Rams Release Orlando Pace
I may be alone here, but I see some parallels to Roaf, in terms of age and the perception that his career was winding down when we acquired him.
When he was on the field last year, he was pretty solid.

I want this guy
I’m not going to lie.
Three year deal, you structure it so all of his guaranteed money goes on this years cap…we have a ton of money to spend, and it would give us major flexibility on the OL.
As Florio points out, it would give Albert more time to develop.
They could compete for the LT spot, with the loser being one of the best RT’s in the league.
Not only that, but it instantly creates depth on the OL, and eliminates that need with the #3 pick, allowing us to go with Curry or Raji.
I understand the injury history, but with Herb Taylor and McIntosh as backups I feel more comfortable with this risk.
Also gives us more time to develop another OT to take over for Pace whenever he can no longer go, whether thats Taylor, or someone else.

Probably
Should have made this a fan post.

Either way
I’m not entirely opposed to this idea so long as there’s an out after one season.
He’s a big dude that’s missed serious time in 2 of the last 3 years. Those types of injury history’s don’t usually get better with age.

True
But at least last year was his bounce-back year.
When we got Roaf, as I remember, he only had played in 8 games the season prior, and wasn’t much older.
Now, I’ll admit, I don’t think Pace has the heart Roaf had…guy was a warrior, but put in roster bonuses, to ‘encourage’ him to stay healthy, and like you said, have an out after one year…why not??

No doubt the Rams are drafting OL
They wouldn’t release Pace unless they planned on picking up one.
