Not to naysay, but ...
With Leggett, Flowers and Carr, do we really need this guy … ?
I mean, sure, maybe he’ll grab a spot away from someone like Colclough or Macklin. But, it’s not as though this signing is really for a ‘position of need’.
And, yes, I get that he’s a warm body that’ll compete for a spot at training camp. But, why couldn’t we have spent some of this money on, say, a guy to fill in on the right side of the O-Line? Or, perhaps a decent Linebacker … ?
He does have one year more in the NFL than those 3 combined
And he’s coming out of a 3-4 system. Our take: probably necessary and wise, but disconcerting for the overall state of the D.

I have a feeling
That the general consensus of the ability of Flowers, Carr and Leggett, is overrated on AP, at least as it compares to what Pioli thinks.
Pioli probably sees that we were ranked (as I remember) 26th in pass D, and realizes it wasn’t just because of a lack of a pass rush.
Leggett in particular, I’m not sold on long term. His ROY win last year, was ridiculous. Not saying he’s bad, but it’ll help to have someone like Daniels, a guy who’s started in this league to compete with him.
I bet he wont last more than a year
But with that said I’m not dissapointed we signed him. I’d rather have him than Macklin or Colclough (seen all I needed to see from them last season)

its always nice to add some depth to any position.
I think we all could have wished we had depth at lb last year . And with our pass rush we probably will need some cb that can rotate since they will be running down people alot haha
