AP Mock Draft Rules/Round 1 Schedule

Hello everyone,

By now, you've probably noticed that we've kicked off the 2nd annual Arrowhead Pride Community Mock Draft with UC's pick of Aaron Curry. UC is heading out of town this week so we wanted to allow him ample time to defend his pick in the comment section.

For the rest of us, the mock draft will commence this Monday, March 16th. We'll be doing two picks a day, which should give us enough wiggle room before the draft if someone cancels on us or something.

This is how you make your pick:

  • Check the schedule (below). Be prepared with your pick on the day you are scheduled. We will post one pick in the morning and one in the afternoon/evening. That means that if you're scheduled first, you have to email me your pick by 11 AMish that day. The second pick must be in by that evening (I know some people are at work during the day and can't send a write up in).
  • E-mail me your pick (chiefssportsblognation@gmail.com) along with your write up. You don't need to include a picture. We will post that for you.
  • Do not send me just a name. You must provide a full write up on why you made that particular pick.
  • Look at UC's pick of Aaron Curry for the Lions. It's a great example of what you should be sending in.
  • If you can't make your pick on time, please e-mail me immediately so we can get that pick made by someone else. I understand things come up that are beyond your control.
  • Defend your pick in the comment section. I know many of you won't be able to defend it right away but at least make time to come back respond to other readers' questions.

Here is the Round 1 schedule. Round 2 will be posted later. Be prepared to make your pick on the day you are scheduled!

Obviously, for obvious reasons :)

Bill Parcell’s: "You are what your record says you are."

"My job is not to collect talent, but to build a team. Individuals make the Pro Bowl. Teams win championships. That is our goal."—Chiefs GM Scott Pioli.

Is it easier...

to put our picks as a FanPost that can then be bumped up to the main page? Would make formatting a little easier.

I thought about that

And right now, since FanPosts have certain formatting limitations, let’s keep it in just the email. Plus, if Primetime and I have control over it, we can work the draft posts in between other important news.

Good suggestion though. Thanks.

Yeah

It’s more about controlling the times they’re posted.

How long does that writeup about the pick have to be?

UC wrote several paragraphs about Curry. It alsmost seems like it was an essay. Should we format our picks like his or just give a brief description (maybe two paragraphs)?

The more the better

UC did an excellent job. The idea is to make an informed decision and be able to defend your pick. State your case whether that be two paragraphs or seven.

cool thanks for clearing that up

We just want to emphasize

that because of the success we had doing this last year, we want people to take it seriously.

Maybe

We left a lot of regulars out of the selection process, so I’m going to give them priority.

Thanks for offering to help. We’ll let you know if a spot opens up.
