Cutler?

This is going to sound absurd to most of you.  If Josh McDaniels really wants Matt Cassel as his QB, shouldn't the Chiefs consider trading Cassel for Jay Cutler?  Perhaps the Chiefs have to give up a little more than Cassel.  That still seems fine to me.  Cutler has much more talent than Cassel and his hands down a much better QB.  In fact, Cutler could be the best QB in the league in a couple of years and keep his reign for a long time.  Although flipping Cassel may sound absurd, it will less so after reading this from USA Today:

Cutler > Cassel

But if I were the Broncos I wouldn’t take anything less than 2 1sts or Cassel and a 1st. Trading Cutler would be a terrible move but I hope they do it.

Im not so sure Cutler > Cassel

Look at the history of Mike Shanahan QB’s. He always manages to make ‘em look better than they really are.
I’d hold judgement on Cutler til I see him play with a different coach.

Denver would never trade Cutler to the Chiefs

for the same reason we would never trade Larry Johnson to the Broncos. Denver could not fathom having Cutler beat them twice a year. I couldn’t imagine have LJ run against us twice a year. Even though they were free agent signings, watching Neil Smith, Dale Carter, and Casey Wiegman play for Denver made me puke.

Good point, Major Tom

Yes, intra-division trades are rare. McDaniels being new to the Broncos makes a trade slightly less unlikely, but still unlikely.

We just got our franchise QB and the new Miss AP

and less than 24 hours later we are talking about trading him? WTF?

Booooo!
the new Miss AP

Wrong. Until Broken Croyle leaves the team, Kelli still has that title.

:)

Sorry for ruffling your feathers, Lanier63

Didn’t mean to upset the zen state many Chiefs fans are in right now. I thought it was useful to share this news with Arrowhead Pride. If you prefer Cassel to Cutler as the Chiefs franchise QB, then I have a fantasy football league for you to join.

Don't take it personally.

He does have a point.

Also, knowing the opinions of the fanbase is just as important as knowing the goings-on outside the fanbase: he’s just sharing his news.

Nothing personal over here :)

I just think trading a 2nd for two solid starters is huge and it would cost us dearly to get Cutler IMO

Will never happen

Cutler is a good player but he’s had a few years to show what he is. Cassel was basically a rookie last year and can build on that. If LJ can be convinced it’s a new era in KC, then I really like the potential of this offense. 3 receivers + Tony with LJ pounding it between the tackles? I like it! If we can add a couple of linemen this will be tough to defend.

Some may disagree, but the great thing is, we’ll get to see them face off twice a year.

Look!

Im with you Lani ! IMO, The Donkeys can keep the WHINER , or stick a feather up thier asses, and we will all be happy. As far as Cuntler being more talented, or a better QB all around then Cassel, that will remain to be seen for many years to come. No doubt Cuntler is a pretty good QB, He isnt even close to being a Montana or Elway for that matter. You would nt know that by listening to him bable. From what Ive seen of him, he has his moment, but the consistancy isnt there. The same problem most of the other average QBs in the league have.

Cutler

Is great when he is good but when he starts to slip he reminds me of Rex Grossman, good Jay or bad Jay? When he throws into double coverage and he hits his target everyone loves him, however when he does the same pass and gets picked the announcers are all saying he shouldn’t have thrown it. I think he is a good QB but I also think he is too much of a crap shoot. Just my thoughts on that situation.

There's always next week,,, and when we run out of weeks, there's always next year!

#12 pick

Frankly I’m not that high on Cassel, and I would love to flip him and get the #12 overall pick in the draft that New England supposedly turned down.

It would be a fantastic deal to move from #34 to #12 just for taking on Mike Vrabel’s contract. Talk about a win-win deal, we’d have 2 top 12 picks, plus Vrabel as a veteran leader for the defense.

Sure Cassel will probably be a little better than Thigpen, but I’d much rather have Thigpen and the #12 pick rather than just Cassel with Thigpen on the bench.

This team has a lot of holes, it’s not like we were only a QB away from winning the Super Bowl.
