KC 2009 Draft etc.
I do not understand all the draft guru's and KC fans conversations about the lack of a pass rush when the Chiefs can not stop the run. As a Pats fan, Pioli too, this is what I would recommend.
1. Sign either Terrel Suggs or Bart Scott - you have to pay for past mistakes
2. Trade Larry Johnson for a draft pick, probably a 3rd rounder.
3. Draft Jerry Peria with the first pick. Dorsey and Peria for 10 years is real good.
4. Move Derrick Johnson to OLB.
5. Sign a veteran MLB such as Jonathan Vilma.
6. Draft Derrick Williams with the second pick, he is a Wes Welker clone.
7. With the next 3 picks(2 thirds and a fourth) pick a quality center like Antoine Caldwell or Eric Wood, an offenive lineman like Herman Johnson, and a quick third down running back - Devin Moore.
Obviously this is my perfect world but just think how to defend Bowe, Gonzales, Williams and Devin Moore, I'm not sure you can unless you can not get the ball to them. On defense you can now stop the run and get pressure from the edge. I would now rank both the offense and defense in the top half of the league. Good Luck, I am rooting for you except against the Pats.

Peria?
why not take BJ Raji from boston college who is ranked 3rd on scouts top 32 and peria is ranked 26th. if you wanted to trade down then that might make sense but peria at number 3 would be crazy
Peria seems like quite a stretch
I don’t like taking a DT that high, but if we were to, I like the mammoth BJ Raji much more.

I think its Peria Jerry
and he is a beast! Tore it up in the SEC, created lots of problems with the O-line and kept them off the linebackers. May be a huge sleeper.
We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.
Ok already, if you don't agree with what I am saying, just don't email my mom again. She beat the crap out of me with my keyboard!

I like the thought
But LJ for a 3rd rounder and we’re dreaming :)
DJ back to OLB…I imagine this depends partly on whether we pick up a MLB in the offseason/draft.
No way
No way can we get a 3rd rounder. I don’t think we can get anything at all. Just cut LJ after June 1.
Interesting
Thanks!
It looks like he is another 3-tech guy…I think we need a big fatty 2 tech guy next to Dorsey – if that is Tank Tyler, great. If not, I don’t think either Raji or Jerry would be a good fit there – it seems like we’d be doing to them the same thing we complained was being done to Dorsey this last season.
GOTTA GET A NEW D LINE COACH TOO

Krumrie is sticking around...he just bought another house on Troost

"My job is not to collect talent, but to build a team. Individuals make the Pro Bowl. Teams win championships. That is our goal."—Chiefs GM Scott Pioli.
Moore
Don’t we have an exciting 3rd dow back in Charles already? Other wise sounds good. Maybe a QB instead of Moore makes more sense in my opinion.
History doesn't agree
If you look at the Patriots drafts with Pioli, every top 10 pick has been defense. Richard Seymour, Ty Warren, Vince Woolfork, and last year Jerrod Mayo. Up until last year they were all defensive lineman. My belief is that Jerry Peria is the best DL in the draft. I can assure you Pioli doesn’t care if Mel Kiper or Todd McShay think Jerry Peria is a stretch, they thought that of Jerrod Mayo last year too and he was only the NFL defensive rookie of the year.
Well you're close
History agrees he’ll go defense, but nothing says he’ll go DT a year after the Chiefs drafted a DT #5.
The most likely pick is, has been, and will be Aaron Curry. The only other option would be a DE if somehow Brown, Orakpo or Maybin really impress. I like all those guys, but unfortunately trading back from #3 is almost impossible with today’s rookie salaries.
You gotta stop the run.
Could not stop the run in 2008, what makes anyone think that Aaron Curry, an outside linebacker is going to fix that? You have no chance in this league until you stop the run. The draft is not about best player available but rather TEAM needs. The team needs to stop the run as a first priority. One player, like Glen Dorsey could not do that last year so he needs help. Two studs in the defensive line aka Jerry Peria should make Dorsey and the entire defense better.
First Name: Peria Last Name: Jerry (Peria Jerry, not Jerry Peria)
Why not just sign Haynesworth a proven vet that can stop the run and rush the passer (8.5 sacks). This will free up the #3 pick to take Aaron Curry who will ultimately help our anemic pass rush. Plus Haynesworth will make the whole defense better especially Dorsey b/c Haynesworth will be taking up the double team freeing up Dorsey to wreak havoc.
