Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

Johnson’s venom was vaguely directed at the "organization," but not at the players or the coaches. He complained that, when Dick Vermeil was head coach, the team tried to trade him to Tampa.

L.J. Wants Out

Click over and read more from LJ's interview on 610 this morning. It's completely and utterly ridiculous. He said he wants to play for the Cowboys or an East Coast team.

The guy's out of this world

I’ve been on the fence about trading him and taking the slight cap hit vs. keeping him around and running him into the ground.

After reading this….this trade/release/whatever can’t happen soon enough!

Don't Think So

He was just saying that LJ dislikes women so much that if he was one he’d probably kick his own ass at the clubs. :)

No, got that.

I was just being a smart-ass in saying:
since KCS said LJ’s a bitch
then JB turned that immediately into a synonym of woman.

Bitch = Woman = the misogyny

Since he was bashing LJ for his misogynistic behavior by making a misogynistic comment, that’s were the irony lies.

by Dustin SLO,CA on Feb 4, 2009 3:30 PM CST up reply actions

Ah

Yes, I suppose it is.

Although not necessarily…he could have been referring to Johnson in the prison sense of the word, in which case it wouldn’t be a female reference at all. :)

by UCrawford on Feb 4, 2009 3:35 PM CST up reply actions

Or More Precisely

Using “bitch” in a prison sense dilutes the feminine inference so much that the directly misogynistic aspects are minimized or lost. Like someone using the term “”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_thumb" target="new">rule of thumb" even if they’re aware of that phrase’s alleged (although untrue) ties to wife-beating.

Well I said this a long long time ago

….in a galaxy right here in KC when a lot of people were crying about the salary cap. Well, there ya go…salary cap or not.
If he’s smart (and I doubt that very much), he should beg to talk to Pioli, renegotiate his contract so we don’t take a big hit on the cap and it’ll help his case for a trade.

Tony G. can go with him. There’s plenty of ex-Chiefs players that were proud to wear the red and gold and these two yahoo’s aren’t even in the same league in regards to being men that honored the Chiefs uniform and fans. What a bunch of millionaire whiners.

I blame Vermiel and Edwards for not putting “foot in butt” on both of these guys. Vermiel tried and let up. I PRAY we get a HC that has the guts and personality to bench both of them (if we don’t trade them) until they learn to keep their stupid comments to themselves. With as young a squad as we have, this will not bode well for thier attitudes if they see “veterans” acting this way.

I could give a rats butt what he did. If someone is a great employee and bad mouths the organization at your workplace, how long do you think they’ll be around?

He can be the second coming of and it doesn’t make a difference to me. The attitude of “it’s ok, cause he makes us better”, is just a bunch of BS. He doesn’t make our team better when he runs his mouth like this because it makes a bad impression on the rookies and they’ll start copping the same attitude and than you have….the Raiders.

Yeah, he’s watching film and staying over and after commetns like that it’s because it’s all about him not what his legal binding contract stipulates.

Yeah, “it’s a misunderstanding”…is he going to use that line again like he did a few months ago?

When you poison the water, it takes a while for the venom to spread.

We’re not bashing his work ethic, we’re bashing his millionaire whining antics when people are scrimping and scrounging to be able to afford season tickets to take their families to games. Those same families that if it were not for them, he’d be stocking shelves playing in a sandlot on weekends. How disrespectful of those that buy his jersies and pay to watch him play.

Some will defend him as though WE as fans and an organization owe him something. When has this team become more about an individual than being a reputable franchise with fans who for the most part are very respectful of our Chiefs heritage? When have we become so complacent that one players playmaking on the field gives them carte blanche to disrespect the fans, the owners and his teammates (in that order)?

If I was a teammate, I wouldn’t want him around. He’s basically said, he doesn’t think the team is good enough to be SB winners. He’s saying that his teammates don’t have the ability and wants to go to a contender. Read between the lines, if you don’t want to be around a group of people because of your own personal desires for a ring, than you are indicating they don’t have the ability to produce.

Actually, with all the soap opera scenarios going on with our team I was taking a break. The Arrowgate fiasco made my head hurt. I was going to wait until we definitely had a new HC, but with all the badmouthing by a couple of our current veterans…I had enough.

Speaking of….can anyone recall this much bashing of the organization by veterans in the last 5-10 years?

What’s going on with these players nowadays? You never would have seen Marino, Payton, Lenny, Bell, Lanier, Smith, Thomas, etc. go to the media and bash their franchise. They made much less money, yet they didn’t step over the line to the media. There was pride back then representing the team colors and the fans and I think that it’s not about that anymore, it’s about individuals.

by Dustin SLO,CA on Feb 4, 2009 12:39 PM CST reply actions

I Don't Think LJ Is Being Straight Up At All

He’s rationalizing away all of his problems and claiming that the Chiefs are responsible for all of it. I think it’s pretty clear from his most recent remarks that he was lying through his teeth when he said that the problems in KC were “partly” his. He thinks that it’s all the franchise’s fault that he’s not being worshipped here. Doesn’t seem to register with him that the fans are sick of him because he’s a whining, wannabe thug who bullies women and often half-asses his job for a superstar wage before blaming everyone else for the problems he creates.

Tony’s being a whiner too, but I think he’s being a lot more straightforward than LJ. He never said he wasn’t going to request a trade in the offseason…he just said he’d do his best during the season after his midseason trade request fell through and that he wasn’t going to cause problems. And he didn’t. He was a pro during the season, just like he said he’d be.

I don’t give a damn if he’s the best TE to play the game, because at the end of the day, you’re still A GD TIGHT END. So they can both piss off.

Being a piece of shit is when you create constant problems for your team off the field and by whining about how they don’t respect you just two years after they hand you a superstar contract. The fourth "altercation" was in September

Johnson has been involved in at least three other incidents during his six-year NFL career; the bye week incident is his fourth — not third, as reported — and second of 2008. Each incident involved one or more of three common denominators: a female accuser, alcohol and a nightclub. In the case of the past three, it’s been all of the above.

by oldchiefsfan on Feb 4, 2009 2:10 PM CST up reply actions

Larry Johnson was arrest for battery???? NO. Simple Assault. By the way my friend was arrested for battery a year ago because he shut the door on a cab driver who was trying to get out to fight him, then run him over. Here's the facts:

In 2003, he was arrested for felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor domestic battery for waving a gun during an argument at his home with an ex-girlfriend. The charges were dropped when Johnson agreed to participate in a domestic violence diversion program. In 2005, he was again arrested for assault when a woman accused Johnson of pushing her to the ground.

His third arrest for assault came on February 24, 2008, after allegedly pushing a woman’s head at a nightclub. On October 10, 2008, Johnson was arrested for the fourth time and charged with one count of non-aggravated assault for allegedly spitting a drink in a woman’s face at a Kansas City nightclub. The woman involved, Ashley Stewart, has since filed a civil suit against Johnson, accusing him of negligence, assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

Not for Larry Johnson. He’s never produced at a high enough level to offset his bullshit and frankly I’m not interested in giving him another chance. He’s had plenty and he always finds a way to fuck them up…screw that guy. Let some other team deal with him so we can have a guy who’s more interested in winning than in being Jay-Z’s buddy.

Like I said, I don’t fault the guy for getting a big contract, but I do fault him for becoming even more of a team cancer and off-field distraction after he got it. He got paid a lot of money by the Chiefs to help build a winner (even if Peterson’s plan was a mess)…as far as I’m concerned that officially negates the need to feel any pity for him. I don’t care how “justifiable” he might have sounded in the interview, his behavior has been anything except justifiable.

See Old Chief's Comment Above

Four incidents involving violence or threats of violence against women.

One time, I can see the golddigger defense…but not four.

Herm Edwards will not be the Chiefs' head coach next season.

Neither will Mike Shanahan.

"Wannabe thug" being the key term

Must have been rough growing up on the mean streets of Happy Valley, where only the strong survive.

Regarding Johnson's Trade Wishes

I’d love to see him end up with the Cowboys. The universe might just implode from all those prima donna idiots lumped in one place. Heck, I’d love to see the Chiefs trade Johnson away for Felix Jones straight up (like that would ever happen). :)

Just Curious

Could we get for LJ in a trade the pick neccesary to draft Shonn Greene ?

by Infrognito on Feb 4, 2009 1:08 PM CST reply actions

Where is he projected?

LJ’s worth probably a 5th-6th rounder at this point.

I'd still do a conditional only trade

1) Playing time or # of touches
2) If he leads the Conference in rushing
3) If he leads the Conference in TD’s scored (notice no distinction between running or passing)
4) Playoffs(eg. whether or not the team made the playoffs, how far they went into the playoffs…)

We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.

Ok already, if you don't agree with what I am saying, just don't email my mom again. She beat the crap out of me with my keyboard!

5) how long he is able to go without getting arrested

And Every Time He Opens His Mouth

That price probably drops.

The Red Zone had a pretty good article today about how the new coach already has his first major challenge ready for him…getting control of his team and either getting the veterans to step back into line or putting them on notice. The Star’s writer wasn’t all that sympathetic to Johnson or Tony either.

It sounds to me like

He’s playing video games while doing the interview…

The Day Herm Edwards didn't get his team ready to beat the Raiders at Arrowhead is the day he kissed his job goodbye.

What I meant was that HE thought that, not you guys

I think the Chiefs are hacking in to AP, some strange stuff happening.

If we traded him 2 years ago when he held out the first time.....

what would we have missed out on? Two years of sub-par play and childish behavior. I would say hindsight is 20/20 but I wanted to trade him 2 yrs ago.

Scuse me guys, but fuck lj!

Would he even be known as a top flight rb had he gone somewhere else? He came into a good offensive system, with a top flight line, I wish Detroit would have got him! Fuck you lj, do not let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya!
