The Case for BPA

Player A figures to be a 3 points per game improvement over your already great offense.

Player B figures to represent a 2 points per game improvement over your shoddy, hole filled defense.

Which player?

duh ;)

That said, many other things come into whether the elephant in the room, Crabtree, is the 'BPA' on Pioli's board.  What's his character?  Work ethic?  Contract demands?  Agent?

In the interest of reaching 75 words, here ya go.

Crabtree's agent

Is Eugene Parker who also represents Larry Fitzgerald so he’ll be well aware of Crabtree’s value.

Also...

Important to remember Pioli’s own words that we are not collecting talent we are building a football team.

I know his comments were probably intended to be applied to Free Agency but I think it applies to the draft in what you alluded to in the post. That he will not only evaluate his past production but also his character, intelligence and work ethic. Randy Moss is a beast of a WR but the reason he is a Patriot is because he is regarded as one of the smartest recievers in the game.

The case against...

Charles Rodgers, Mike Williams, Koren Robinson, David Terrell, Peter Warrick, Desmond Howard…

just fire the guys who drafted them

Chan Gailey is the only guy with the balls to draft Tebow as a HB/TE/2nd QB and actually USE him that way -- alongside a pure passer to help bring on the future of the NFL. It sounds absurd but I swear if you saw my chalkboard....

REMEMBER: On average, a professional team should win the championship about 1 time in 30 years. So how demanding should we be of our college head coaches?

i suppose

BPA is synonymous with ‘most talent of anyone out there’ to many people. pioli emphasized that is NOT his definition. another way to say his board is not ‘sexy’, i guess.

I would like them to pick the best player for whatever system they are running next yr

That is why i am holding off on saying who I would like them to pick. I would love for them to pick the BPA and while the number one guy on most people board is X if he does not fit then don’t pick him.

Agree 100%

And when you look at it like that, it sure starts to feel un-sexy doesn’t it? O-line, D-line. You know, something of real long term value, like the Patriots do. Just my opinion.

Don't reach

Don’t take a LB, DE or whatever with the 3rd pick overall if you don’t think they are worth the pick. You can fill some holes through free agency and take BPA in the draft (when its a legitimate option) and take your chances. You don’t want the next Mike Mamula or some other stiff…
