The longer we go without an official announcment about Mike Vrabel which has pretty much been confirmed, the more I suspect he may just be one part of the deal.
Wild speculation is circulating that the primary in the deal might be Matt Cassell with Vrabel being a secondary party. If this is indeed the case, what would a Cassell / Vrabel package deal cost the Chiefs in terms of compensation to the Patriots?
This is difficult to tell because no one really knows what Cassells real value is. He put up franchise QB type numbers last year (63% comp %, 3600+ yds passing and 21 TDs) in his first year as a starter, yet just three years ago he was the 230th pick in the 7th round because he had been a backup his entire college career. So he could either be the next elite QB in the NFL, in which case he is worth nearly any price, or he could turn out to be a one year wonder that benefited from being on the best team in the NFL.
Interestingly, NFLTA had talked about this same topic.
So what do YOU think the Chiefs should give for a Cassell / Vrabel package? (if indeed that is actually something Pioli is seriously looking at)
