Though he played on the left side (like Brian Waters), Dockery is a 28 year old guard coming off a massive $49 million contract he signed with the Bills just two years ago.

Keep an eye on the site today. There will be more and more players released as free agency looms.

Anyone know

How smoothly guards can transition from side to side? I know the move from LT to RT (or vice versa) isn’t always automatic but I thought interior linemen were more interchangeable.

Well it didnt work with

self gratification :(

We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.

I was just pointing out

it isn’t easy switching sides. Ask Ellen Degeneras or Elton John.

I definitely am interested...

And as I pointed out in the other thread….He is an AFC East guy, so Pioli will know if he is worth a look…

Hey I jumped over to the Bills blog and this is what they had to say about Docekery

First, I was very repsectful and kept AP’s name in good standing while representing you guys.

I asked, was this a financial move or was he just not that good?

Replies:

It was probably a little of both – he’s not terrible – but not worth what we were paying him. He seemed to regress this past year.

Well I wasn’t expecting this, that’s for sure. After it had been determined that his salary wasn’t that much for this year, it makes even less sense.

Really, they cut him just to save $500K? We still have to replace him with someone.

At least we finally did something about an overpaid underachiever. Don’t stop here, OBD, you’ve got plenty more to get rid of. Dockery may end up the poster boy of the vaunted Marv Levy era and the stench it left on the franchise.

Still I’m confused, we don’t have a backup option and we aren’t saving a great deal of money. Was Dockery THAT bad last year?

We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.

Dockery's An Interesting Option

Although I’ve got to say that Buffalo’s running game was pretty underwhelming for most of last year so I don’t know if he’s worth a big contract. A lot of that was Jason Peters, but nobody seemed to think Dockery was an All-Pro.

Predictions for 2009

1. Todd Haley's going to struggle with managing his staff in his rookie year as head coach.

The suggestion amongst the Bills guys was

Sign for minimum or some type of incentive based contract.

We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.

But I think of Haynesworth now

Dockery may be a prime example of the “contract year” player.

We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.

I dont remember this guys play much

but any help on our oline would be nice even if this guy could come in as a back up we need depth.

can you elaborate?

He’s the same age, has had more success in the league, and seems like less of a risk from an injury standpoint. Dockery also has now been cut from twice

by KansasCityShuffle on Feb 26, 2009 12:02 PM CST up reply actions

Oh yea

and off the top, Moore already plays RG where Dockery would have to moved

by KansasCityShuffle on Feb 26, 2009 12:04 PM CST up reply actions

I can’t fathom a reason why y’all would want Dockery, big deal or small deal. He regressed significantly from 2007 to 2008, and he could only be considered “above average” in ‘07. He really isn’t worth your while.
