Trade LJ to CLE

For Shaun Rogers

"As much as Eric Mangini has tried to change the culture in Cleveland, one of his biggest challenges now is changing the mind of Browns defensive tackle Shaun Rogers.

Rogers has grown so disenchanted with the situation in Cleveland that he has asked the Browns not to pick up the $6 million option-bonus payment due to him next month, a source close to the defensive tackle said. Rogers would rather be released after one season with the Browns, despite still being owed another $15 million in guaranteed money.

The Browns said Rogers hasn’t asked them to be released.

Cutting Rogers would be difficult to do financially. If the Browns release Rogers, they would have to count more than $9.7 million against their salary cap."

he wants out and they are in the same situation as we are, he wants out but has a larger contract another team would have to take on... which comes out to about even with LJs so just do a switcharoo and say good riddance

How about LJ, $25.00 cash, a diet coke and some click clacks?

We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.

I'd do it

That sounds like a fair trade to me.

I would love t ostay in a 4-3

If we got Rodgers. With Dorsey and Rodgers next to each other, some one is going to take double teams, freeing up either one of them or a DE, on a regular basis. This would be a good trade if we added a draft pick. I think LJ and a 4th would be sufficient enough.

Well

I actually would like to stay in a 4-3 this season and see what we would look like under this coaching staff… It’s hard to think about changing anything we have right now, because of the fact that our coaching was horrible. Now that we have a good GM and knowledgable head coach things may get turned around.
You said it… With Dorsey and Rogers in the middle, pure mayhem. If we were able to sign Olshansky we’ll have a formidable line. Olshansky, Rogers, Dorsey, and Hali. It’d be pretty ridiculous… I mean, if youre other teams, who do you double? Rogers cause he’s bigger? Or Dorsey cause of his speed and agility? Either way our DEs could succeed if we signed another DT like Rogers and keep Tank in rotation. Fresh DTs are a definite must.
Then forget it… Siging Bart Scott or J. Vilma and drafting Aaron curry, with DJ waiting in the wings. 2 awesome CBs like Flowers and Carr… FORGET ABOUT IT! All this may even allow Page and Pollard to excel and get to the next level. All with a couple FA signings, and a draft pick or 2.

I know that you're afraid... you're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin.

Devils advocate here...

Just want to know. Who we gonna get who is an upgrade from LJ? I know he is a pain in the ass but, still the guy is pretty good.

Personally

I don’t think LJ is all that anymore, I think we are fine with LJ and Kolby, and then add a RB in the 4th and we will be fine… LJ is a middle of the road RB now because he doesn’t have the desire to be a football player

Ok, a dumbass old man needs help with an answer

In these days we all know the contracts aren’t really worth much since the team can release you anytime it darn well pleases. So, with that being said, (this is where the education would begin) if LJ wants out of KC bad enough, can’t he just ask the Chiefs to cancel the contract and both sides walk?
I know about getting trade value and all, if we can, but just sayin.

if they cut him then

all bonuses and guaranteed money accelerates to time now which means we would be on the hook for 8 million of dead money.

Lanier

If both sides want out bad enough, they could restructure his contract. NE had cap problems and restructured Brady’s contract to get Moss, for example. Restructuring can happen and I’ve been pontificating this as an alternative. The issue would be that someone would have to be interested in acquiring him.

I thought same reading another post on this site involing Shaun Rodgers, when he told the Browns that he would forgo the roster bonus due to him and the rest of his guaranteed money to get out of Cleveland so I guess if LJ wants out bad enough he could take that approach.

When deep space exploration ramps up, it'll be the corporations that name everything, the IBM Stellar Sphere, the Microsoft Galaxy, Planet Starbucks.

I'd be fine with 9-7 or 10-6 and competiting for the divsion title

I think I remember

a similar situation some years back when another player wanted out of his contract. He was willing to give up the rest of his guaranteed money. Then the players union stepped in and wouldn’t allow it.
