Want a team like the Colts?
At the end of the 2008 season, all 22 of the Colts starters had never played for another team.
Talk about developing your own players throught the draft -- the Colts are just like the Royals -- except they give the second contract.
I think there is a good argument for doing almost nothing in free agency this year, drafting some more young studs, and seeing what everyone on our team can do this year with good coaching -- then next year go for broke on that trophy with a couple big money signings and an extra year of experience for this young, and talented, team.
The big problem there is the QB situation. Thigpen deserves a shot, IMO, but if he fails, we can't really legitimately expect the superbowl run with whatever first year starter we bring in.
In other news, 4 Colts free agents last i checked:
OL Jeff Saturday
WR Marvin Harrison
LB Tyjuan Hagler
RB Dominic Rhodes

Their Super Bowl year
They had something like 5 players on the team that weren’t drafted by the Colts.
Bill Polian and Co. are masters of NFL personnel and the draft.
Thats why Polian
was high on our list for GM. Colts have a strong blueprint for success just like the Steelers, and Ravens, drafting well is definitely a better recipe than going heavy free agency.
I like what you have to say but...
The Chiefs just have too many holes to fill. I will agree that we have some very talented players but, we could really use some veteran help on defense and the o-line.
I think the coaching will be much better this year and I believe our young draftees from the last few years will play much better.
I agree
I like the idea of building the team through the draft and with good coaching. But especially with the switch to a 3-4 the idea to pick up a few defensive free agents and at least one on the O-line would be good for the transition.
I honestly don't think
the Chiefs will do all that much in FA. There’s not a ton of value in it.
Vae Victis!
Big name FAs are great
….If this were baseball and we were the Yankees. Pioli is much smarter than all of us. We will know all is well if FA signings are announced and most people don’t have a clue who they are. If not, we probably paid too much.
OU SUCKS!!!!!!
