Will Haley bring Leinart?

I just finished reading an article on ESPN from 1/27 about Leinart waiting for his turn in Arizona. It sounds like Arizona is going to push Warner hard to come back with a 2 year deal. If the Chiefs hire Haley (as most expect), do you think he and Pioli might try to pry Leinart away? It sounds as if Leinart is quietly unhappy right now and if he is forced to ride the bench again he might begin to speak up and request a trade. I know it is unlikely that the Cards would want to trade Leinart but it doesn't seem that they are as high on him as they were on draft day 2006.

What do you think?

Uhh no.

Very simple answer being no.. He had tons of hype coming out of college and did absolutely nothing with it but give an aging quarterback a shot and look what he did with it. If we tried to get Leinart it would most likely cost us a number 1 pick plus more latter picks most likely..

Best advice is to keep him from getting anywhere near a chiefs jersey.

Haley was Warner's coach

And Warner wasn’t starting. Shows what kind of player they think he is after 3 years.

No way

I’d rather have the QB from my flag football team than Leinart. He has a better arm.

Wow

I didn’t realize there was this much hatred for a guy who hasn’t been able to play much. He was a stud in an NFL style offense at USC and had a poor pre-season this year which gave Warner the shot. The Chiefs don’t need a cannon for an arm because they don’t have a true deep threat receiver to throw it to. The most important things a QB needs are accuracy and confidence which is what Leinart is all about.

It wasn’t Haley’s call to start Warner it was the head coach/GM. He may have had input but it is not his call.

Pretty much says it all
I didn’t realize there was this much hatred for a guy who hasn’t been able to play much.

He was handed the job over the offseason and couldn’t take it. With some of the off the field things that have happened with him, I wonder how dedicated he is to football. And that’s not a good question to be asking when looking at potential QBs for your team.

Read the article

It sounds like he has been given a reality check. He came in with an mentality that the NFL would be easy just like college but learned that its not. He has been working hard according the article.

He didn’t play much the season before last due to a broken collar bone. Thats not a sign of a brittle QB thats just a bad luck injury.

I read the article

I’d rather take my chances that he didn’t just get it after 3 years. He’s got a bad rep for a reason. Maybe he’ll turn it around but I’d rather take my chances in the draft.

This draft sucks

at the QB position and judging by the Pats history of drafting QBs, I dont think Pioli (not that anyone knows what his plans are) wants to take a QB so high.

I still feel Leinart will be a good QB in this league, tho it seems I am a minority. I wouldnt throw a 1st rounder at him but def a 2nd+ more.

Warner probably won't be back

They aren’t letting Leinart go too. Not a chance.

No to Leinart

Yes to Cassel

Cassel is better

but I don’t think the price of admission is worth it.

by Buck'O on Feb 2, 2009 11:11 PM CST up reply actions

How come he's SO expensive?

I think Pioli will know his exact worth and Cassel couldn’t argue with what we would offer. We have the money and we have to get the QB taken care of ASAP!

He's high priced because

Brady stands a good chance of not being ready by the season opener and he’s a proven success in their system. He’s not really trade-bait until they’re sure they get Brady back. If you look at the flip-side of the argument, you could see Pioli being leery of the price tag because he’s at least in part responsible for having set it so high. He knows exactly what the Pats are after where Cassel is concerned.

I agree that QB is an area in need of an upgrade, but I don’t see us reaching for the stars on ANY player or position. Everything we do from here on out will be a value play. We’re not going to bet the farm on anyone.

Thigpen < Croyle < Quinn Gray < Ingle Martin < Matt Lienart

I think you meant this

Thigpen > Croyle > Quinn Gray > Ingle Martin > Matt Lienart

Umm I'm going to go and put the HELL NO tag on this

if we get Lienart we make the need for a “LT” at RT more pressing ecause he’s left handed. Plus all he does is throw check downs he got benched in favor of a dinosaur QB. He sucked even with Boldin, Fitzgerald, and Breaston to throw to with Todd Haley as their OC. Brodie Croyle could succeed on those terms!! He’s a bust and nobody wants to admit they’ve fallen OUT of love with him

I think you meant this Thigpen > Croyle > Quinn Gray > Ingle Martin > Matt Lienart

I think you both give Brodie Croyle way too much credit.
