Around SBN: Win or Lose, Boston Celtics' New Big 3 Era A Success

Several members of the Chiefs' new coaching staff were on my plane to Indianapolis today for the NFL Scouting Combine, but their lips were sealed as far as their exact duties are concerned.

There's not a nicer guy in the world than Chan Gailey, but when I asked him whether he's still the coordinator or the quarterbacks coach or whatever, he politely said any comment has to come from new coach Todd Haley.

and you didn't get any autographs or predictions?

We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.

Remember BigBlueShoe's post?

He was comparing the future Chiefs to the Colts saying that there is one voice of the organization and it’s the head coach.

You from Indy?

I was there a while back and had some absolute killer pizza at Bazbeaux Pizza.

Well damn it...

Here I am thinking that I’m tossing a bad ass tip JayKC’s way.

LOL

Thanks for the tip anyway! I love pizza so if I am ever around Indy I will try and stop by there.

damn i wish

i could be at the combine hearing what the coaches think i wish i could be a fly on the wall in some of the kansas city meetings that would be awsome to hear their plans.

No Kidding

I would love to be a fly on the wall for any NFL team really.

by Joel Thorman on Feb 18, 2009 5:22 PM CST up reply actions

ya would be a dream

Just to hear those coaches and pioli work deals would be awsome . Im pretty sure that guy is a closer for sure wheeling and dealing.

thank you for clarifying

Saw This Piece Earlier

Yes…the secrecy obsession is now getting really absurd.

I have absolutely no idea who the Chiefs will draft or sign in free agency and anyone who thinks that they know is talking out of their fourth point of contact.

All I know is that the Chiefs are going to field a better team in 2009. Prediction of team record will be submitted after the 2009 draft.

by UCrawford on Feb 18, 2009 5:23 PM CST reply actions

Having one voice

Isn’t that absurd IMO. I know what you’re getting at but maybe there is more to the story….like they actually haven’t been assigned exact positions yet because we’re holding out for someone else (Crennel?).

by Joel Thorman on Feb 18, 2009 5:24 PM CST reply actions

Maybe

I’d be happy if they got Crennel in to coach defense. But where does that leave Pendergast or Gibbs. There’s an extra linebackers coach in there somewhere if someone else is coordinating.

True

I’m not quite sure. Just thinking out loud really. But you’re right on the LB part.

by Joel Thorman on Feb 18, 2009 5:28 PM CST up reply actions

Baltimore!

The Ravens at one point had two linebacker coaches so it is a possibility. They were not big names as this but…

it is absurb

but if it all pays off and we win ill be ok with it. The sad thing is my friends would always make fun of this guy who had no info about the pats and he always stated he was a true fan.but knew nothing now i understand he always said they release no news i never believed him now i do.

I'm Fine With No News

As long as they produce results, I can live with no news. Problem is, this doesn’t appear to be a coaching staff full of guys who get results. A lot of the guys they’ve got, in fact, have been really terrible at the jobs they’ll likely hold with the Chiefs.

To Be Fair

Let’s give them a chance to provide results. I understand where you’re coming from about the hires but let’s see what they will do with the Chiefs first.

by Joel Thorman on Feb 18, 2009 5:29 PM CST up reply actions

uc you really have a good point

im not ranting and raving right now im a little worried i really dont want to be that team that can put up a million points and dont have the ball with the last min and lose by one. its just heart breaking when you have no D. So im kinda worried

by sexassassin on Feb 18, 2009 5:30 PM CST reply actions

I just cant wait till free agency

once we start wheeling and dealing the pieces will start coming together and maybe ill be less worried about them not being good cause talent can make coaches look awsome sometimes.

by sexassassin on Feb 18, 2009 5:34 PM CST reply actions

i would be more worried

if pioli came in and made a bunch of rash decisions and cared more about titles than assignments

hey chiefs 8288

keep the cap locks off people get thrown out of here for that . hahahah jk

by sexassassin on Feb 18, 2009 6:09 PM CST reply actions

NOW NOW

just cuz that dood didn’t know how to be polite, turn off a caps lock button, or use a shift key, or even know how to write full grammatically correct english sentences, or write a sentence without dropping slurs, f-bombs, and demeaning comments, doesn’t mean we should be ragging on him, on other threads. oh wait. yeah it does.

Maybe they haven't been assigned titles so they can evaluate talent fairly at the combine?

This way they don’t zero in on certain guys they want to specifically coach.

agree

I think they have only been assigned a number for where to stand in line to eat.

Possible, but do we have to remove all of their titles for next year's combine too? :)

Im stressing about the draft right now

I know if im streessing those guys got to be stressing

by sexassassin on Feb 18, 2009 6:50 PM CST reply actions

Man

I ahte the off season. Too much speculation. I wish the draft was over so we can clearly see what we have.

by kcfaninsandiego on Feb 19, 2009 9:27 AM CST reply actions

This is fun. We might not like the finished product. Smell the Roses.
