Free Agent, Peppers and Dansby

Peppers is insistant on a trade if Carolina tags him.  do you think we have enough cap room to sign both these guys plus a high dollar number 3 pick? if we get these 2, we can probably get someone for the OL for the #3 pick instead of going defensive route.  what are your thoughts maybe a trade LJ for Peppers?  I think LJ is better then DeAngelo WIlliams, so they might benifit with a power running back like LJ.  your thoughts?

What?

I didn’t even read your post. I just gave an overview before even reading and came across the phrase "maybe a trade LJ for Peppers? What are you fucking retarted. Deangelo Williams is young and amazing. Oh and who did they draft last year? Oh thats right another running back. He goes by the name Jonathan Stewart, who also had a great year. Horrible post. thanks for wasting my time.

Why the rush to judgement on nfamous209?

Everyone has the opportunity to write a post with their thoughts until Chris and Primetime tell us its over. You have the right to disagree, but grow up and do it like an adult, please.

We need a future defensive leader, his name is James Laurinaitis and he can be selected in round 1 of the upcoming Draft.

Ok already, if you don't agree with what I am saying, just don't email my mom again. She beat the crap out of me with my keyboard!

Dang McWhirt

Did mommy forget to hug you this morning? The tone of your response is way out of line with what was posted. The purpose of these threads is to provoke thought and intelligent debate, not rip someone who may not have known Carolina’s running back situation.

They have a big back in Jonathan Stewart

Carolina has spent two 1st rd picks on both Williams and Stewart. Their running game is sound and needs no changing.

Peppers does want out if he gets tagged. Dansby will get tagged again this year. So what do we do if they both get tagged? I don’t think we want to give up any draft picks this year but if we do it will mean that we can only land one of the top FA that have a franchise tag.

Goes both ways, and since Free Agency begins before the Draft FA often affects how people draft more so than the other way around

by GracieKal on Feb 14, 2009 7:44 PM CST up reply actions

yep

some teams already have players that they are eyeing in the draft, so they sign in FA to fill the other holes

I agree that the commenter was a little hard on the fanpost author.

But, DeAngelo Williams was amazing the 2nd half of the year and is an ascending player. LJ is going the other way, has an albatros of a contract, and has known legal and attitude problems. The Panthers have two backs better than any backs the Chiefs have. No GM in their right mind would do LJ for Peppers. If someone is going to put out trade scenarios, they should at least have some basis in reality.

Not gonna happen

as brutal as Mcwhirt was he’s right about LJ and Peppers being traded. that #3 is as good as Carolina’s should we decide to go for Peppers. It would probably cost us our secon and fourth and some picks next year too

I don't see a guy like Peppers

as a value acquisition for a GM with Pioli’s background. Doesn’t quite fit that overall team concept.

Free Agents

This is what I mean about what we can draft cheap and
what to spend BIG money on.

Offensive LIne

For the money spent on Peppers we could outfit the OLine for years

by Steve_Chiefs on Feb 14, 2009 9:14 PM CST reply actions

Exactly

we have a ton of needs. burn all that beautiful cap space on just a few high priced guys and squander an opportunity to cover all of our bases? I’m thinking no.

free agents

with the history of how the patriots did things when pioli was there i dont see them going after anyone that would be being considered for their teams franchise tag. i would expect the 2 or 3 tier free agents and to trade down in the draft (not probable) and develop the tallent that is already on the team. there is alot of high picks on the d-line that with better coaching could live up to expectations which would solve alot of our defensive problems

Yes

Wow. Thank you. I’m getting the impression that not many people are getting this. Hat’s off!

I agree

We have a lot of 3 and four star talent on the D-line
We need a coach to get the D-Line better

McWhirt33

geez, take a midol or something. i forgot about Stewart completely. i’m not saying that williams isnt good, but now a days succesfull teams have a great rb tandem. I just happend to forget about stewart, plain and simple. it was just a thought a possibility. so go ask mommy for a midol and take a few, cuz ur post was completely uncalled for.

also

i stated if we have enough cap room to sign both plus a our draft pick we wont need to trade LJ. only reason i mentioned trading LJ is if we dont have cap room to sign them. its all possibilities and thoughts. heck if we can sign them and trade lj for a first round or second round pick that would be good. I think we should keep him, but thats just me.
