Chiefs Sign Rookie RB Kestahn Moore
The Chiefs today signed RB Kestahn Moore, a rookie undrafted free agent, according to a league source.
(Update: Moore now confirms the move via his Twitter account.)
The 5'10", 212 pound Moore hails from the University of Florida seeing game action all four years.
While at Florida, Moore had a career high 104 carries and 580 yards as a junior. He averaged over five yards per carry every season until he hit 4.9 as a senior. Full stats can be seen here.
Moore worked out for the Chiefs today. Other running backs, such as Chris Perry, have been given a workout in recent weeks.
Moore also spent time with the Broncos and Chargers since going undrafted.
The need for a running back arises from Kolby Smith's trip to injured reserve as well as an ankle injury that has hampered Dantrell Savage in recent weeks. Javarris Williams was promoted from the practice squad last week so Moore could be joining the Chiefs practice squad or active roster. That will be announced tomorrow.

I have to admit...
I’m blown away by any man named “Kestahn.” Is that pronounced “Kess-tawn”? Or “Key-stahhn?”.
My brain rhymed it with “Keystone.” As in, Light.

uh-oh…
My long, drawn-out predictions that no one cares about, nor will bother to remember:
1. Todd Haley will still be the Chiefs Head Coach up to the 2011 season.
2. Clancy Pendergast won't make it to the 2010 season and was never intended to. Last-minute hire for a position that needed to be filled.
3. Todd Haley will not be the OC at the start of the 2010 season.
Atleast he has KR experience
Can they get Charles off of special teams now?
2009-10 Predictions:
1. Chiefs will win ATLEAST 6 games, which is a big improvement over 6 wins in 2 seasons
2. Succop will bring stability to the K position for the first time in years
3. Chiefs D will atleast double the number of sacks form last season
4. Cassel will be a top 15 QB
5. Todd Haley won't make a poster and jump around holding it up welcoming the Chiefs players to summer camp, I mean TRAINING camp
Not enough to be our guy

Interesting signing...
Not much experience in college but that doesnt matter to our staff…
Florida is always stocked with RB….hard to find time for them all.
Was a team captain and was the lead blocker on kickoff and punt teams.

Draft write up
POSITIVES: Well-built running back best on the inside. Displays good vision, finds the cutback lanes, and effectively uses blocks. Displays a burst through the hole, and is a solid receiver out of the backfield. Sees the blitz and picks up blocking assignments.
NEGATIVES: Not a smooth cutback runner, and loses a lot of momentum when he tries to change direction. Has been mostly a part-time player in the Gators offense.
ANALYSIS: Moore has the size and skill to get consideration as a fourth back at the next level. His ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and block on passing downs could help him stick on a roster.
Yeah, let's just keep matriculatin' the ball down the field, boys! ...
Apparently he finds them but is kind of choppy getting into them.

This is an example
of why I find draft analysis to be complete BS.

And this is what I pay for, arrrgghhh.:)
Good move by the Chiefs org, glad to see LJ gone.
Javarris Williams had 2 carries for -5 yards with a long of -1 yards
Well I guess this goes to show the Chiefs weren’t impressed…

Not necessarily
For all we know this guy could just be signed to the practice squad. It could also mean Savage is hurt bad enough they might be putting him on IR soon.
Williams never really had a chance on either of his runs if I remember them right. Both times defenders were in the backfield pretty quick.
Yeah, he looked like LJ out there.

I seriously don't get this one
Release and NT and sign a RB? WTF? We have one very mediocre NT and no real depth to speak of. We have plenty of RB’s to get us through the rest of the year. Can someone please help me grasp the premise behind this one?!

Well clearly they seem content going into the last quarter of the season and offseason with the dline we got. I do agree with you but also must be a reason for it maybe be more aggressive in draft/fa for nt and didn’t think he would stay around while maybe they think moore could also stick around … Well he’s not a former pat or cardinal

Well obviously Ron Edwards ZERO tackles in last game was impressive enough
for the Chiefs to give him the entire position to himself. A man producing numbers like that doesn’t need a backup or competition

Well thanks karkz and Poop
At leas I know I’m not alone here. And I’m glad nobody offered up kick returning duties. Bleh! It’s a sad state of affairs.

Only one NT.......
foreshadow of more 4-3 looks perhaps?

You have to be right
great. Let’s abandon what’s barely begun. I’m surprised more aren’t making a case for drafting Terrence Cody as NT.

I really hope they don't do that to us
after blowing the roster up to accomodate the 3-4. I was against that transition from the start, but since we’ve already headed in that direction I think we’d better stay the course. And I haven’t done the homework, but what makes everyone think that the FA’s-to-be at NT will be allowed to walk away from their current teams?

No kidding
IMO the Vince Wolfork love affair is a waste of time. Seriously, would anyone here let that guy walk if they were in Bill Belichik’s shoes? Ummm… Not just no, but HELL NO!
