First Time at Arrowhead will be...
December 20th for the Browns game. I'm a long time fan, but do not live in KC. I'll be Driving from Houston. Anyway, How does the tailgating work? Are people happy to give away free Burgers and Steaks, bbq etc or does it cost, or what? We are ranked # (behind Houston ironically) for tailgating in the Nation and I don't want to pass this experience up. KC is also the BBQ Capital of the US . So, how does it work? My brother and I are pumped for the game, we usually go to our local pub every sunday and sit in our reserved corner(we're the only two Chiefs fans at the place), but we are making the journey to the mecca to check it out and hopefully get out of there with a victory................let me know to help us make the most of it!!!!!!

i’d suggest getting one of those little 30$ Weber grills from wal-mart pick up some meat and beer and show up about 2-3 hours early, and you’ll be set.
Chiefs 2010 big board-
Eric Berry
Dez Bryant
Taylor Mays
Rolando McClain
Russel Okung
Not that I've seen in my 20 years of going.
I wouldn’t expect handouts either. People are freindly but don’t show up empty handed. If you don’t want to haul around a grill just pick up something to go and plenty of beer.
Over 48 hours in the car, traveling over 3600 miles round trip all to see the Conference of Champions play in the 2010 Holiday and Rose Bowls.
Well, I wouldn't want a handout from you since you want to give HIV to people...
Just kidding, I’m sure If I show up with a couple cases, somebody will give me some chicken waaangs.
Don't buy
Trade.
Step 1: Grab a cooler of beer.
Step 2: Approach tailgate of fun looking people and good smelling food.
Step 3: Introduce yourself and make friends.
Step 4: After an appropriate period of time say “Hey you guys are really cool. I have a cooler of beer back at the car. Mind if I share?”
Step 5: Stick around for the feast
This is my signature line. It is full of awesome and win.

Good plan Satchmo.
Worked for my friends and I last year.

I’m not sure, if your not tryin to grill you might as well pick up some gates on the way to the game though if you want some bbq.

Scratch the Gates
Get yourself some Arthur Bryant’s. I order the sauce to be shipped to me in SoCal, so needless to say I love it.

LC's BBQ
is right on the way from the stadium, coming from the west side.
I’ve never been but it’s great apparently.

Honestly, I don't think it matters.
I have some brand loyalty due to family connections to Jack Stack, but in the interest of deflecting some of the “X place is better than Y” or “Z place sucks” I’d say that it most likely just depends on what sort of BBQ you like. Different places are known for different things, so find what you want and enjoy it.
Does anyone know if the players autograph anywhere?
My bud thats going with me wants to try and snag a few
The players exit the stadium
through a tunnel that goes underneath the Arrowhead Pavilion.
John
"Gentlemen! You can't fight in here. This is the War Room!"
Don't think so.
There’s an underground tunnel that goes out of the stadium and to the practice facility. I know you can go early and watch the players come into there (not sure if you can get autographs)
I have heard the best place is the seats by the tunnel where they run onto the field. Get there early and fight off some kids for some autographs!
"I’d go to battle with him every day of the week." Todd Haley on Matt Cassel
This statement is why I am on the Cassel train, drinkin the Kool-Aid!
Not the tunnel leading on to the field
but the tunnel leading out of the stadium into the parking lot on the press box side of the stadium. There’s a section of that lot that is reserved for players. This tunnel runs underneath the Pavilion – that tentlike structure alongside the stadium.
John
"Gentlemen! You can't fight in here. This is the War Room!"
Yeah
But I have heard you can get autographs from the players on the tunnel on the inside of the stadium much easier

That could be
as I have never been an autograph hound. But I do know where the players come out.

A lot of former players hang out around the Pavilion
Especially if they are being honored at halftime
I saw Willie Lanier outside the Pavilion talking to fans
I think it was the Pitt game.
If you are willing to sacrifice tailgating...
Go in the stadium as soon as it opens and go to the lower level and stand by the Chiefs bench. They will come in and out down there warming up…and Haley, too…if you are a fan.

Yea man...
I got Derrick Johnson to sign my jersey of his last year and then Haley signed my hat this year and all…it was cool…

There's a place..
Called sportsnutz in K.C. that is right down the street from the stadium. I drive about 500 miles to arrowhead from where I live and that is the first stop we make. I haven’t been there in about three years but every Saturday they used to have one or two players there signing autographs. I don’t know how many people know about this place but it is always one of my favorite places to go. It’s a small shop that’s packed with chiefs stuff and you can meet the players , they’re just hangin’ out there.

After watching the Browns play Detroit
If we win, it’ll be on Charles’ shoulders, I just don’t trust Cassel.
I could see Brady Quinn lighting us up like he did Detroit. Picking on Carr, the LB’s and the safeties.
If Brady Quinn lights us up, Clancy should be gone.
I get that he’s trying to make chicken salad out of chicken feathers, but that soft Pendergast Zone is killer.

Easiest close in the world
As stated above, approach tailgaters with full cases of ice cold beer, definitely bring Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat, this will be awesome beer for you to enjoy and will impress the target tailgaters (local KC beer easily available at any KC liquor store/gas station).
“Hey hows it going, this is our first Chiefs game ever, and we’ve heard a ton about the tailgating around here?” let conversation flow for a bit….“So where’s the best place to get some BBQ in town?”
This will start spirited but fun loving debate, make sure to bring pad and pencil, they will give you a lengthy list.
“Hey, we can’t drink all this beer and we can’t haul it back with us, do you mind if we trade you for some food?”
Enjoy the feast my friends.

Don't forget to mention that your drove up from Houston for the game
Chiefs fans respect and love the dedication of their fellow fans from across the country. When I was in KC, mentioning that I was from L.A. and hadn’t lived in KC since I was a toddler was a great way to break the ice. I met a group of guys from KC while I was in philly for the game this year and it is always appreciated by KC natives that our fanbase spreads far and wide. People are going to be more willing to share their grilling with you when they realize that you’re one of the die hard fans that cheers for and defends the Chiefs in the bars across this nation every sunday.

Bring plenty of warm clothes, blankets, etc.
I went to the Dallas game….my first one ever. I about froze into a solid block of ice. I got me some hot chocolate and about burned my mouth out because it is hotter then the surface of the sun.
Have fun and take it all in, it will be the best time of your life….trust me!

I thought it was going to say: First time at Arrowhead will be...
… a blackout. Well, at least you’ll get to watch the game, unlike the folks who decide to stay at home.
Ahh some corp. will buy up the tickets.
Good move by the Chiefs org, glad to see LJ gone.
Oklahoma Joes BBQ is awesome!
Find one, get the z-man sandwich, with fries, or onion rings, awesome stuff.
