The Chiefs might not be very good on defense, but Tamba Hali is a great player. He has only 6½ sacks this year but faces constant double-teams and chips on every pass play. Imagine how good he could be if the Chiefs hadn’t traded Jared Allen and had both players racing off the edge.

oh man...Jared Allen and Tamba Hali

would have been a sick combo.

What crazy fantasy land is this guy from.

You can’t have 2 speed rushers!

If Allen were still here, Tamba would still be an undersized DE gettin' run over on the strong side in losing efforts,

despite accruing a fairly good number of garbage sacks off of Allen’s pressure from the back side.

This is a better situation for Hali long-term. He’s playing at a better weight for his frame, and isn’t confronted by RT and TE on every down.

"Ow! You knocked my tooth out!!"
"Yeah? Well, Colt makes a heavy firearm. That's a fact."

agreed, once again

Allen wouldn’t have a position in the 3-4

Get another pass rusher at OLB, and watch the sacks pile up

* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season
* Stats are for losers

It's comments like these

that make me depressed…

I thought the Jared Allen trade was a good idea at the time…

I didn't think it was a good idea - I thought it was a bad idea that was inevitable

He or Carl had to go and the wrong guy went.

dont forget

that because of that trade we got Brandon Albert and Jamal Charles. I think it will work out pretty well. Besides, would this team really be that much better if we still had Jared Allen. I love the guy but I think it worked out well for all parties

Didn't like the Jared Allen trade

and didn’t like the Gonzalez trade.

It is nice to see the development and outside recognition for Tamba though. Now is the time to get the second OLB to support Tamba, and a monster nose tackle. If we have a pocket crushing , QB smothering rush, then the Interceptions will increase dramatically as well. It’s all about the pressure.

I'm not as bothered by the Tony G trade

He was great for the club, but he was getting desperate for a shot at the a ring. But there’s a big difference between trading a standout DE early in his career and trading a TE, even a HOFer, at the end of his.

He will be good still...

When we get another good OLB…and when TJ and Dorsey develop and we get an actual NT…

Takes a while to switch defensive schemes…

not a Clancy fan

but I’m afraid another DC would delay any more progress/development……..unless the schemes were very similar

I think we need another DC also.

87 points in the last 2 games is unacceptable.

I'm not sure about Clancy's status for next year

I don’t think he can be blamed for everything that’s happened. But I’m also not sure he’s the guy Pioli and Haley really wanted. He may have gotten the job because he was the best 3-4 DD available at the time. Whether or not Clancy stays, I think we are committed to the 3-4 for the next couple of years at least. Haley was pretty clear about that being the D he wants, and I think Pioli is in the same place.

I'm still not on the Romeo bandwagon

Hoodie is, was, and always will be the real DC in NE. Romeo’s Browns D’s weren’t much to talk about.

Pendergast...

He got outcoached by the Chargers and Broncos in back-to-back games. These are teams that we are going to have to play twice a year going forward. Clancy needs to find a way to at least put up a fight.

I wasn’t a Pendergast fan from the beginning, but I wouldn’t mind him staying on to help out maybe as asst. defensive coordinator to someone like Crennel, who I was pulling for as DC last offseason.

i'm not sure that with this regime, it has to be about a "blame thing"

pioli and haley have pretty much shown that they’re willing to upgrade any position possible. it may not be that pendergast is “to blame”, and more that Canidate Fill In The Blank is more qualified.

the schemes could be identical, and there just might be a better person out there to run it than clancy. it’s entirely possible. he might not even be anyone we’ve ever heard of —>insert shocked, slack-jawed smiley face

if rhymes were valiums, i'd be comfortably numb
