Stats show a few positives from Broncos blowout...
I'm sure Joel/Chris will be coming out with their 5 good stats post sometime soon... but, here's what I noticed:
* Better pass protection... only 2 sacks (especially impressive against Dumervil and company)
* Castille contributed... 3 carries for 26 yds, 1 catch for 8 yds... he also had some solid blocks, I think
* of course, Hali was a MONSTER. Get a pass rush up the middle, and/or on the other side of him, and this defense will be instantly improved. 9 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles against CLADY
* Mike Brown made some plays, one INT, 8 tackles... (though, I'm sure he missed some coverage, considering how easy Denver moved the ball)
* Only 3 penalties called on KC ( I think 2 were false starts on Pope)
* Cottam showed up... 3 catches... but, I think he had a couple of drops, too. At least he was in the game, though.

I wonder... seriously here...
Was the O-line actually better? Or did Denver drop more guys back into coverage because our O-line is that bad?
If you only knew...
Much better
Plus, the one sack was ALL cassel’s fault. He had forever, ran away to the side line and took a freaking sack instead of throwing it away. I was really angry about that. Why take that loss of yardage and keep the clock moving? It made no sense and was just another poor decision of his on the growing pile of mistakes.
So basically
there was a Cottam sighting at Arrowhead stadium. That is news.

I loved what Tamba did, but I don't trust the fans to downplay it a little bit in case he doesnt have a good game next week...
What makes it truly impressive is that 1) he was going against Clady and 2) every week the announcers have talked about how the line keys on him as the player to stop.
If someone asks you if you want extra mayonnaise you have to say yes, cus that's part of it.

Thats partially I think because he's the only true threat.
There hasnt been any consistency coming from elsewhere so until there’s a true threat up the middle or off the other edge or we get more push from the dline(which I think will be more predominant next year) they only really have to worry about Hali.
He couldve had even more production yesterday if Clady didnt get away with holding so often too.
"Success is never ending, failure is never final."
The 2 sacks were really Cassel's fault anyway. He had time.
Cottam could go on the good AND the bad stat. His drops were horrible. If he wouldn’t have gotten his hands on them, the ball would have hit him in the face both times. If he can’t catch, I’m not sure what skills he brings. Guess we know why he hasn’t been active.
The o-line was better. There was a nice pocket all day for Cassel and Charles had some nice creases to get through.
I remember Dawson to Taylor, Kenney to Carson, and Blackledge catching the snap in his facemask. Seen it all...
5 good stats is about all you can come up with yeterday...
the list of bad would go on to infinity….lol
I'm with you stagdsp
your list looks a lot like what I’m working on for my weekly glass of Kool Aid this week. I’ll have to come up with a few new ones now, so I’m not just reposting what you already put up. Darn you for making me work harder! :-)

we are going to have competition at every position
Including stirring up the Koolaid
Chiefs go 9-7. LJ makes 1400 yards. DBowe makes 1200 yards. Defense #18.
10/28--The Koolaid buzz is beginning to wear off. Maybe drop this back to my original thoughts on the year. Chiefs go 6-10 (and that my be optimistic!). LJ gets a restraining order to stay 1400 yards away from the Chiefs. I'll let the rest stand for now. 11/18 Oh My! Dbowe gets a restraining order to stay 1200 yards away from the Chiefs. Argh! Can we go 5-11? Can the defense make #20?
nice Haley quote!

I'd be happy to help you there guys.
It’s too hard to come here after a loss now and see all the other stuff though.
Everything except Hali being a monster.
By NFL standards he’s weak. He’s a blip at the bottom of the list. Not even an honorable mention. Dumervill has more sacks by HIMSELF than our entire defense has. It’s not good. He’s better than anyone else on our D. But again our talent level is so bad that it’s hard to say. If he had a better supporting cast maybe…MAYBE>
I think he meant this week.
He’s leading the league in sacks and forced fumbles this week.
And he’s tied for 18th for the year. Not awesome, no…but after last year’s debacle and moving him to a new position, I’ll take it.

Huh?
Hali had a fantastic game, I don’t think Clady has ever had 3 sacks on him, let alone in the same game.
The defense struggled, but Hali was a beast

and... he's more than a "blip" to the opponents KC plays
seems like he’s made a name for himself around the league as a pass rusher you have to game plan for

But other than that I couldn't agree more
I think our offense actually showed some potential. Potential. Like with a very accurate QB and better receivers, the plays over the last two weeks in general have been exciting to watch and disappointing to watch all at the same time.
Potential is there though. Good post
only 2 sacks
and they mentioned that on tv during the game, but is it just me or did it seem like cassel was running for his life most of the game?
how many pressures/hurries?
Also, it seemed like he couldnt find anyone open to throw to..
Just like novocaine. give it time; always works..
I think this was a bigger problem than the pass rush

I was at the game
and Yeah, he was getting hurried fairly often, but he missed alot of passes
After witnessing a game in person, I think someone’s (cant remember who) evaluation of Cassel is correct. He looks for the big play too much and either A – he’s willing to hold the ball in hopes of a bigger play or B – he’s not seeing his targets.
I’ve supported Cassel since the start and will continue to do so, but I cant say that I’m not skeptical at this point.
I am NOT
happy with Cottam. He dropped a couple of EASY passes..I mean..EASY. I know he was a decent pass catcher in college so Idk whats different about him now. Maybe its the arm strength of the QB’s throwing to him (not like Cassel has a real strong arm so I dont think this is the case) or maybe he’s scared of the defenders. I dont know what his deal is but IMO, he should be further along than what he is now.
yeah, he certainly hasn't shown much
I was listing him as a “positive” just because I hadn’t even really SEEN him in a game before yesterday, and he did manage 3 catches

Critical stat missing
Josh McDaniels knew #7’s flaws, his weaknesses were exposed Sunday. Moving forward, the opposing teams will now watch how Denver’s D make a JarMarcus out of #7. Its over for #7 for the season. McDaneils made #7 looked as bad as bad can be. I almost thought it was April Fool’s Day when I saw #7 stat line for that game. OMG!
from NFL.com: Cassel completing just 10 of 29 passes for 84 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions. For those of you calculating at home, that’s a passer rating of 14.2
If LJ was nicknamed 2.7, is’t time to label Matt 14.2?
Predictions as of 06.24.2009.
Larry Johnson will be a top 3 fantasy pick once again in 2010 (after a monster season in 2009.)
Dwayne Bowe will be a 2009 Pro Bowl selection.
Brandon Flowers will have at least 6 INTs in 2009 season.
Todd Haley will have a sideline shouting match caught on TV yelling at one of his asst. coaches.

CORRECT
since we’re in the mode of losing, we need the stats, don’t you agree?
