Kool Aid Aside I am Ready for this Madness to End
I would like to preface this post by saying:
1. this is my first post
2. I have never rooted for another NFL other than the Kansas City Chiefs in my 30 years of watching the NFL.
I grew up in Missouri around KC; wore red to elementary school on Fridays, had KC Wolf come to assemblies, waited in line for Derrick Thomas' autograph etc. etc. It then also goes without saying that I (we,in my particular situation) have barely felt what it was like to have a team win in the playoffs much less contend for a Superbowl. I don't have high expectations but one I do have is that we win at Arrowhead.
I have since moved away to two different states Pennsylvania and North Carolina. During this time period Pittsburgh has won two superbowls, the Eagles have been to a superbowl(with T.O. none the lesss) and so have the Carolina Panthers (SIDEBAR: I was at the Panthers game last year where we where blanked wearing red and gold) which really makes it hard to stomach our futility.
I am sick of watching the other 32 NFL teams beat us like a rented mule and then taking sh*t from their fans. What really makes me angry is that it does not appear to be getting better and the Chiefs brass know it. Todd Haley knows the Chiefs have 1 shot per game to win and when we miss that shot ( Bobby Wade droping wide open touchdown pass) it's pretty much over. He's Pissed. And there isn't a thing he can do about it.
Our players stink, they have heart just not abilty. I can't imagine how hard it is to go out on National TV week in week out and get beat down like they do, it's not their fault they just can't play. Our linebackers are either castaways from other teams that are slow and vulnerable or out of position. Our O -Line is absolutely terrible. And here is one reason why: I have an idea, instead of drafting a left tackle in a draft that has talented left tackles, let's draft a guard and make him a tackle. It's hard enough to make the transition from college to pros why set him back even further? Moreover, where did our lineman come from? How can we not have ONE person we have drafted over the past 4 years become a solid contributor where you say you know, he might not make the pro bowl but he can still hold his own? It further ticks me off that we rid ourselves of Casey Wiegman because he is too old and he is picked up by the DONKEYS and is anchoring their very good offensive line! I could keep going but I won't. Point of my rant is this: IF KC is to break .500 we NEED A NEW STARTER at pretty much EVERY position with very few exceptions. Talkin' like 19 new people.
I will not even pretend to know how to fix our glaring problems ( I definately will not post screen shots of breakdowns or mock drafts) don't have the time or the knowledge. I only know one thing:
I am tired of hearing crap about how terrible the team I root for is and would like at the very minimum to bring back the winning aura of Arrowhead Stadium.
It's frickin' ridiculous.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

Chill NCCHEFS and drink a glass of Koolaid
I know the Koolaid’s gotta be on ice right now but it helps with our current situation. We all new that this year was gonna be a rebuilding year and rebuilding is not pretty. Most predicted 4 to 6 wins this year which we’re on track to do. 0 wins in the first quarter, 1 win in the second and 2 wins in the 3rd.
This team is still one of the youngest teams in the NFL. KC has 19 players with 5 yrs or more experience, the Chargers have 31 and the Broncos 28. The Bronco’s signed all these older FA’s in the offseason and guess what, they won’t make the playoffs this year.
Stay the course NCCHEFS and have faith !
I'm in NC too man.......
and I was at that Panthers game in full Chiefs gear catching all kinds of hell. I’m gracious in defeat, but I really hated to see the Chiefs embarrass themselves that day much like yesterday. I’m still hopeful since I’ve been able to watch more games this year and I can see where the team is headed. I think we have good minds in Pioli and Haley, but we need the talent to follow suit. I agree we need new starters in several positions. It’s gonna be interesting to see what we can do in FA, because the draft isn’t gonna be enough to plug all these holes this offseason.
Getting crap from other fans is part of the deal.
I’ll be a Chiefs fan till the day I die. None of this running away when things get tough crap.
There are lots of problems on this team, and none of them can be fully changed in one year.
We need to be patient. Rome wasn't built in a day and we already have a better record after dumping half of Herm's team. That should be plenty telling. In a year or two we WILL be AFC West leaders.
BTW, Tom Brady will have to win out to match Cassel's record last year. Cassel has no talent to work with. Receivers aren't open, and when they are, they drop passes or run routes incorrectly. He may hold onto the ball too long but good game managing and mature QB's do just that. I'd take a 4 yard loss on a sack than forcing a ball into the hands of the other team. Imagine your hatred if he threw 20INT's in 11 games like Cutler. Give him some time to prove he was worth that AVERAGE NFL contract....
Just think about when those of us
who purchased Arrowhead Pride Wolf Pack tee-shirts have the opportunity to say, “Yeah, I was there when we were at our worst, and didn’t give up, didn’t give in, and dished out as much crap to opposing fans as I took.” It will happen, men (and ladies). This year (and the 3 preceding it) have been tough. Next year will be better, and the year after that, and so on until we reach the big game. It requires much patience and a little courage to take crap from opposing fans, but it will be worth it in the end. Geaux, Chiefs.
The other team's fans are irrelevant
I’m always the only one in the bar rocking a Chiefs jersey and people know I’ll go all out if they say anything about the Chiefs. Matter of fact, I’ve only actually met maybe only 5 or so Chiefs fans in person (I’m 28 years old). What bother’s me the most is to see my team going through some serious growing pains. I’ve been a lifelong fan and I’m never jumping ship. And we’re really only a few position upgrades from being competitive.

I am one who purchased the shirt
Worn it to all (3) home games I have been to this year.
Got to shake hands with Joel outside of the stadium before the chargers game becuase of the shirt.
I’ll be a Chiefs fan for ever, or so my sn says!
"I’d go to battle with him every day of the week." Todd Haley on Matt Cassel
This statement is why I am on the Cassel train, drinkin the Kool-Aid!
No is questioning
who is or is not a fan, the problem is that I have been a fan (and a good one) who has recruited more than my fairshare of fans for our team for 30 years and really have never had a good team. Everyone talks about the being the winningest team in the 90’s but what do we have to show for it? Nothing. Rome wasn’t built in a day but how many years JK? It’s been 30 so far so hopefully you and I can get a AFC championship or a SB before we die.
Bobby Wade droping wide open touchdown pass
Makes me wonder why Mark Bradley rarely sees the field…he’s surely not the fastest guy anymore after his knee surgeries, but he has a history of finding the end zone for us. Not many other guys on this team can make that claim.
Come on, Man, Kool Aid up.
Do I agree that the last two weeks were embarrassing to listen to? Absoloutely. I’ve been a Chiefs fan since I started watching football, and honestly, the last couple of seasons have had me yanking my hair out. But, honestly, we expected this. We. Expected. To. Suck. Hard. And we do. We suck hard. But, I think it’s time to just..trust that things will get better. They have to. The NFL is a competitive buisiness. I’ve been taking crap from Bandwagon Colts, Steelers, and Patriots fans down here in Florida for the last 5 years, And If I can put up with that, then, certainly, so can you. Just remember what I do. “One of these days, The Chiefs will have their time. Every dog has it’s day. And when the Chiefs do, it’ll be me rubbing it back in their smarmy faces.” Does this team need a lot of help? Is it all across the board? Certainly. But I also have faith that that help will come. We’ve already made strides over last year. We’ve one exactly one game more than we did last year. We’ve had the same QB playing all year long. We have more sacks than we did last year, We aren’t at the complete bottom of the pile in every catagory this year. There has been progress, just not a lot. Will there be more? Yes, I have no doubts. Will we be better next year? Yes, we will. Don’t give up hope because we suck this year. We sucked last year, we sucked the year before that, and we got “lucky” the year before that. Give Pioli and Haley the chance to prove they’re worth their salt. Were you all not willing to Give Herm Edwards Three years of running the Chiefs into the ground? Give Haley his shot.

I really can't figure out how to quote a previous post
Any help?

BetterRed, I disagree with your comment ...
you see, I think Herm was actually the best thing for this team, especially at the time – I should have this on my PC, ready to c/p to misguided souls like yourself who continue to rag on Herm – Herm inherited an old team and was forced by Carl to go with those old and older players for 2 yrs
it was only his final year, last year, that Herm actually STARTED the Youth Movement – ONE YEAR! in addition, his draft from last year is one of the best in many, many years
given that Herm wasn’t allowed to even BEGIN reguilding until LAST YEAR, given that he really had ONE year to work some kind of miracle, I think it’s only fair that Pioli and haley be held to the same standards, and as of now I’d toss both of them
yes, we have the same QB playing all year, and he’s getting worse as the year goes along and needs to sit for the remainder of the season – yes we have more sacks, but we’re also giving up more yardage and more points (is that what you call progress?)
I’ve been a Chiefs fan since they got to KC … and for the record, I don’t drink Kool Aid
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisiton!
I'm sure you were exaggerating but...
IF KC is to break .500 we NEED A NEW STARTER at pretty much EVERY position with very few exceptions. Talkin’ like 19 new people.
I disagree. Things are bad yes, but not 19 new starters bad.
Positions I expect to stay the same next year:
QB: Cassel (not ready to give up on him yet)
HB: Charles
WR: Bowe
LT: Albert
DE: Dorsey, Jackson
OLB: Hali
CB: Carr, Flowers
K: Succop
P: Colquitt
So there’s 11 guys, 9 if you don’t count the kickers, I figure will be starters next year. Still not great, but only 13 to replace instead of 19.
Players that I wouldn’t be surprised to see starting:
FB: Castille
OT: O’Callaghan
OG: Waters (maybe)
That gets us down to 10. Still not good, but more manageable. I think there’s some players that could step up and fill some spots, but for now I’m just going with the guys I think are pretty much locks.
Good post overall though. Nice work.
Also
Our Left Tackle, Right Tackle, Left DE, Right DE, Left CB, Right CB, Primary Tailback, and three important LBs are all rookies or 2nd year players. These are some of the most important positions for any team, and most of these players should continue to get better over the next two seasons. IF the offense can improve next season, I believe KC could win 7-10 games in ’10.
Predictions:
Kansas City will not win more than four games in 2009
Kansas City will have a new OC and DC in 2010
Kansas City will win at least seven games in 2010
