Why You Shouldn't be Mad, Upset, or Hopeless: The final quarter of the season (aka Part 3)
So how about those last two weeks, huh? Definitely hard to swallow, so much so, I had to get on here and give a few choice posts about just how incredibly bad the Chiefs looked yesterday... Namely the wide receivers and anyone not named Tamba Hali or Jamaal Charles.
But I think everyone would like to just forget these last two games and look to the future of this team
I really don't have any good reason for why you shouldn't be mad. I'm mad as I'm typing this listening to all the conversations going on around me about just how bad the Chiefs were. Mostly though, my anger can be attributed to the wide receivers of this team. It's clear to me now why Wade was released by the Vikings, although they are pretty talented at wide receiver, Wade can't catch the ball reliably. Chambers was released from the Chargers for a reason too, he's apparently not talented enough to get open when covered. Long is young and getting his first shot in the big show, so really I can't fault him for much, but I recall him missing a couple "shoulda's." The Chiefs need help all over, but being mad at the wide receivers is pointless, after all, the Chiefs did have a 20 play drive and scored 13 points (Thank you Jamaal). So I guess be glad it wasn't a shutout, because save a couple of players on either side of the ball, they played like they should have scored a big goose-egg.
Being beaten by a superior team really shouldn't be upsetting. Yes, they're a division rival, but really, they have more talent (except for that Ty Law guy, really wish they would have called holding on him). But really, it was a game at the beginning of the season you looked at and thought, "Crap." And with the complete inconsistency with which this team plays, it doesn't really surprise me. It still hurts, but it's not surprising.
Don't give up on this season yet loyal Chiefs fans. There's still 2 home games left. Tamba Hali is playing back as he was when he was a rookie. His coverage ability isn't there yet, but he's doing a good job getting pressure on the QB. Jamaal Charles seems like he has a chance to score 6 every time he touches the ball with his speed and ability to just move around and escape defenders. The biggest reason to not be hopeless: We won more games than last year. Most people have said that the W-L columns are the ultimate showing of a team making progress, so progress is being made, no matter how badly they looked the last two weeks.
We can't abandon ship now. If you find yourself teetering on the brink, the read this story. If you're already read it, read it again. Then read the comments. There is no Kool-aid in times like these that will make anything feel better. The Chiefs need another win. The fans need another win. These players are better than what they showed us yesterday, and in the final weeks of the season, you'd better believe they're auditioning for a chance to play in the NFL again this year. There are no sacred cows here. There is no one above reproach, and that my friends, is why you should not be hopeless.

Look at Haley’s “quarters”….
0-4 in the first quarter
1-3 in the 2nd quarter
2-2 in the third quarter
that’s progress, even if it doesn’t feel like it.
NOW, beat Buffalo, Cleveland and either cincy or Denver…
go 3-1 in the 4th quarter…
that would be a solid improvement over last season, and steady improvement in the w/l column all season.
Next season, they can focus on being able to compete with the better teams in the league… for now, focus on winning the games you SHOULD win, and finish the season strong
* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season
* Stats are for losers

I disagree
Oakland (twice) , Cleveland, Buffalo, Washington
all SHOULD be won (or winable) by KC
