Around SBN: Dana White Announces Koscheck vs. Hendricks for UFC on FOX

What's on Your Wishlist?

I'll start thinking more about the Chiefs potential win over Buffalo tomorrow, but after games like today's it's fun to daydream a bit about the next year and potential off-season moves.

What is one thing that is on your off-season wish list? A particular coordinator? A certain draft pick? Free agent signing?

The performance by today's defense was hard to swallow, even though Tamba Hali was a bright spot. The defense needs some solid direction. I am going to go ahead and say that landing Romeo Crennel as defensive coordinator is at the top of my wish list for next year.

The Chiefs waited a while before officially naming their defensive coordinator even after hiring most of the staff. I buy into the idea that they waiting on word from Crennel about whether or not he was planning to return to coaching in 2009. Following the announcement of Pendergast as DC, there was a lot of speculation on Arrowhead Pride following about whether or not Crennel would join the Chiefs' staff in 2010.

I think he'll be coordinating the D in 2010. It's on my wish list at least.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Arrowhead Pride's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Arrowhead Pride writers or editors.

The only measure of true success in the NFL is the Vince Lombardi trophy. Anything less is a rationalization.

I dont wasnt Crennel...

Not even a little bit, not even at all.

But if I had to wish for anything...

It would be a dominant front 7. I want a line that opens lanes for the Linebackers to shoot, and takes pressure off the secondary.

Basically I want Ndamukong Suh, and I want him to be the greatest NT to ever play the game… As a Rookie.

I thought Suh was projected as a DE in a 3-4...

I don’t think he’s big enough to be a NT…that would be a bust from the very start…but as a DE…that could work a hell of a lot better in his favor.

My wishlist is:
1. Crennel as D coordinator
2. Weis as O coordinator
3. Wilfork as NT
5. top notch safety to talke over for Mike Brown.

I have more but…it would start to seem like a rant.

There's no hope with dope...

by chrisjo07 on Dec 7, 2009 10:50 AM CST up reply actions

Suh is 6'4 and I think his athleticism will make up for his lack of girth

He is so quick he will have to be double teamed like Freeney is, except Suh is freakishly strong so he will be able to manhandle any guard who makes the mistake of taking him on solo.

And if Kubiak becomes available… He would be a much more desirable OC than Weis.

And I dont get the Crennel love. He hasn’t proven anything to me that he can build a great D on his own.

I wish, oh how I wish...

1. an OC
2. a DC, that I never wanted hired, to be gone and have a good one.
3. a faster D. Not a slow, aging D. Oh Tamba, DT would be proud.
4. a good draft next year.
5. dare I finally say it? I am hoping on the “New QB” bandwagon, despite defending Cassel all year.
6. Good Receivers who dont ruin the game.

so much…

I mean "hopped on the "New QB" bandwagon"...anyway

This team is like the Devil. Looked for a little while, then I was easily deceived.

Herm actually made division games competitive.

When you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail.

by NJChieffan16 on Dec 6, 2009 10:36 PM CST up reply actions

I agree

Herm did do that, im suprised their’s not a call for T.Haleys head yet. Terrible play calling to day, especially in the 3rd Qtr……… come on Haley what the hell are you thinking about. Their’s noway we should have went for it their at the 28 yard line, we were only 8 points behind at that point in the game. That play changed the momentum of the game, and IMO was bad coaching.

by CPT.Caveman on Dec 6, 2009 10:48 PM CST up reply actions   1 recs

Herm was coasting by on Vermeil's players

And I think the AFC West has gotten a lot more talented since Herm was the coach (hard to believe it has only been a year).

As for the playcall…it only cost us 3 points and could have easily been +7 for us if it weren’t for a missed block. The REALY momentum changer was Bobby Wade’s dropped pass. That was like a punch in the gut.

by Nick Britt on Dec 6, 2009 10:54 PM CST up reply actions   1 recs

I disagree

IMO i think Herm was a better coach than the EGOMANIAC we have now. King Carl had Herm’s hand tied, and he got all the blame. The west hasnt got that much more talented than last year we just suck more, with our new golf pro head coach.
T.Haley should have punted the ball, and B.Wade’s drop was like the 3rd play of the game. Does M.Cassel have std’s, cause it seems like these guys dont want to touch the ball after he has:P

by CPT.Caveman on Dec 7, 2009 1:04 PM CST up reply actions

I'm with you kinda....

I was screaming at the TV when they tried the fake punt. However, after I calmed down, watched the replay, the play almost and should have worked for a huge gain. That could’ve been a play to change the momentum in our favor…as you said we were only 8 points down at the time.

I’m old enough to remember the Schottenheimer days, and complaining about a coach that never took a chance and was ultra conservative…..I have no problem with a coach taking a shot now and then….just hope for better results in the future

by chrisclark_dfw on Dec 7, 2009 1:25 AM CST up reply actions   1 recs

I have

No problems with my coach taking shots, but at the right time, not on my 28 yard line and when we are only 1 score behind. Not only that but did we take anymore shots down the field in that game?

by CPT.Caveman on Dec 7, 2009 1:08 PM CST up reply actions

where the heck have you been?
im suprised their’s not a call for T.Haleys head yet.

My List

1. a GOOD DC (Note how much better the Cardinals D is this season…ouch)
2. a QB Coach for Cassel
3. a GOOD OC
4. a legit NT and OG via Free Agency
5. Eric Berry in the 1st round of the draft
6. A legit center and WR in the 2nd round of the draft
7. Brandon Marshall (the PERFECT WR for Cassel, but it’ll never happen)

Predictions:

Kansas City will not win more than four games in 2009
Kansas City will have a new OC and DC in 2010
Kansas City will win at least seven games in 2010

by jmcgoblue on Dec 6, 2009 10:53 PM CST reply actions   1 recs

Can my wish list go back in time?

1. Don’t trade for Cassel
2. Don’t trade for Cassel
3. Don’t trade for Cassel

Predictions as of 06.24.2009.

Larry Johnson will be a top 3 fantasy pick once again in 2010 (after a monster season in 2009.)
Dwayne Bowe will be a 2009 Pro Bowl selection.
Brandon Flowers will have at least 6 INTs in 2009 season.
Todd Haley will have a sideline shouting match caught on TV yelling at one of his asst. coaches.

can we please all keep in mind how horrible trent green was in his first year

maybe it is just because I am a very optimistic person, but we have too much negative crap going on as a fan base. yeah, our team sucks right now, but we have pretty much a brand new everything on this team. Give them some time. We already have more wins than last season. We already have more sacks than last season. We have a running back who is producing what we need now. We’ve go a couple decent wide receivers who just need more time and space (and to stay out of trouble). Calm down peeps, thinks are looking up. When we start approaching cubs level of mediocraty, then we can panic

Heres my wish list

1. A well known, good a** D Cord
2. QB Coach
3. Suh/McClain/Berry
4. Dominate Pro Bowl NT
5. Wade and Bradley cut
6. Mays and Williams relegated to special team
7. A new center and RG
8. A complimentary RB for Charles
9. A TE who can catch and block
10. Golden Tate
11. Chambers resigned
12. Bowe stops dropping the ball

by Larryemcdaniel on Dec 7, 2009 1:19 AM CST reply actions

Wish List

Fire every coach except for special teams coach. Go find some coach’s that can actual;ly win with 22 guys off the street.

John Soellner

by chiefs63 on Dec 7, 2009 6:56 AM CST reply actions

4 good players

A safety, a NT who demands double teams, a G and a C. If we added good players at all of those positions, that would improve the other players too, and make a huge difference in the team as a whole.

It’s ironic that our most solid and consistent DL this year has been probably Edwards. He’s been okay all year, but the problem is he doesn’t tie up the middle of the line and force the other team to double him. Dorsey’s improved as the season goes along, and the idea is that next year Jackson will do the same, and that adding a really good NT will help both young guys improve that much faster.

It’s hard to find that many good players in one offseason though. If we got very good players at S and NT and just average players at G and C, even that would make a big difference.

by Offense of the 70s on Dec 7, 2009 7:27 AM CST reply actions

More than anything

Playing guys in the right spot would help, Dorsey is not a 3-4 type of DE plan and simple. I’m really starting to think that we could have won 3 game’s at this point in the season with, Herm and T.Thigpen, infact i know we would have! But you’re right we need a true 3-4 NT via the draft or FA market, Wilfork would be nice. The most important thing to me is that we need to fix the o-line at all cost’s. M.Cassel has to have time to throw the ball to be affective, without a good o-line we have wasted money on Cassel. Here is who i want at center for us next year http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kilY_7cjMvo

2010 Wishing List

DEF
1) Romeo D-Coornatior
2) Safety from Tennessee …(Can’t remember his name)
3) Pass Rushing DE/LB like Tamba
4) Young Stud at NT

OFF
1/ 1.5) A young stud at RB……and WR
2) Stud Center
3) Stud OT
4) WE NEED A KICK RETURNER PLEASE!!

by Jclawd on Dec 7, 2009 9:07 AM CST reply actions

My wish list

1. Fire Clancy and hire damn near anybody else at DC. We can even keep the 3-4.
2. Hire an OC.
3. Do not resign Jarad Page.
4. Throw big-time money at free agent free safety (either O.J. Otogwe or Nick Collins).
5. Trade Dorsey for anything in the 2nd round and let Magee take over.
6. Trade Waters for a 5th (hard to get any higher for a 30+ year old guard).
7. Move Albert to LG (his college position).
8. Use 1st round pick on Oklahoma State OT Russell Okung.
9. Use pick 2a on best available WR (Golden Tate or Marshawn Gilyard) who also can return kicks.
10. Use pick 2b on best available ILB.
11. Use pick 2c on best available big RB to split carries with Charles.
12. Use 3rd round pick on best available nose tackle (Jags and Lions stole huge guys last year from small schools late in the draft).
13. Use 4th round pick on best available center/right guard (there are only 2 good center prospects in this year’s class so they’ll be gone in the 2nd round and we have more pressing needs at the moment- although Niswanger sucks).
14. Use any and all remaining draft picks for defensive line and linebacker depth. Worst case scenario is they offer an upgrade on special teams.

2c?

Dorsey is playing quite well this year.

The Original member of the Ndamukong Suh bandwagon

by averagegatsby on Dec 7, 2009 2:50 PM CST up reply actions

I have to disagree with that

Personally, I think Dorsey is terrible. His two fumble recoveries Sunday were a result of him standing exactly where he was when the play began. He never generates any sort of pass rush and very rarely demands a double team. When he starts blowing up blockers and fighting through double teams, then I’ll become a believer that he fits into the future.

by kc_radrh8r on Dec 8, 2009 12:01 AM CST up reply actions

Forgot some

15. Use 2011 draft to target an elite pass rusher opposite Hali.
16. Use 2011 off-season/draft to target another CB if Donald Washington doesnt show signs of developing.
