Chiefs Stall on the Goal Line; Trail Denver in the Second Quarter

It's 7 to 3 in favor of the Denver Broncos.

Couple highlights/lowlights from the first quarter:

  • Bobby Wade dropping a wide open catch
  • Lance Long's drop in the end zone
  • The Chiefs getting all the way to the 1-yard line and only getting three points
  • Jamaal Charles has already made some solid plays for first downs this game
  • The Chiefs are 4/7 on third down today

This is a close game and I have a feeling it will be that way all day.

UCrawford will eventually calm down and realize that Haley isn't a bad coach.
Will embrace the Fire Haley Bandwagon if we lose to the raiders by more then a TD...
..But we aren't going to lose.
LJ will not land in Pittsburgh
The Chiefs will not be the number one pick in this years draft
The Chiefs first pick of the draft will NOT be a OL

Historically compared to other rookie 3-4 DE's

Jackson’s stats have been pretty comparable. He is a rookie, all 1st round rookies are overpaid.

Someone had it in a link on a previous post...

New England switched to the 3-4 his second year, I believe they ran some 3-4 his rookie year, but they were a 4-3 team initially.

The Original member of the Ndamukong Suh bandwagon

by averagegatsby on Dec 6, 2009 1:29 PM CST up reply actions

so can you post the link?....

I want to see proof that rookie DEs picked third overall should barely average a tackle a game. I don’t see the connection between Seymour and TJ. First you said Seymour played in a 4-3 his rookie year and now you’re saying he played some 3-4 and thats somehow proof TJ will be good? I don’t see it…

I don't want no Yo-Yos

by CaptainPoopDeck on Dec 6, 2009 1:34 PM CST up reply actions

Jesus Christ...

I did the research so you can too. I had a post, or a comment or something comparing rookie DE’s in the 3-4. You can either be informed and do the work yourself, or you can take me at my word.

But the bulk of Seymore’s rookie year was in the 4-3. They probably changed to 3-4 because of him, or maybe the drafted him with the hope of eventually changing to a 3-4 and transitioned him slowly.

Regardless Im not going to continue this argument, Im going with facts you are going to have to find a rookie who played DE in a 3-4 exceptionally to prove me wrong. Even Seymore didn’t have a great rookie season. Jackson has also knocked down 3 (I think) passes. More than Seymore did. There are signs there.

The Original member of the Ndamukong Suh bandwagon

by averagegatsby on Dec 6, 2009 1:17 PM CST up reply actions

Ok. You tell me what you see when you watch TJ

that tells you that he is going to be good in the future? Other than being a high draft pick. I watched other good 3-4 DE making impact plays. Did you see R. Seymour making plays when he played in a 3-4?

by vincent2668 on Dec 6, 2009 1:20 PM CST up reply actions

I see a rookie struggling...

Just like all rookie D-ends do in the 3-4. Richard Seymore played in the 4-3 his rookie year.

The Original member of the Ndamukong Suh bandwagon

by averagegatsby on Dec 6, 2009 1:22 PM CST up reply actions

I know. but you said a DE in a 3-4 if he is doing his job

shouldn’t be making plays. Just holding blockers so LBs could make plays.

by vincent2668 on Dec 6, 2009 1:24 PM CST up reply actions

Our Linebackers suck too.

they occassionally make plays but that doesn’t change the fact that Jackson is a rookie, and like all rookie 3-4 DE’s he is struggling. Im not saying Jackson is doing bad, Im saying it is expected because HE IS a rookie. There probably isn’t a harder position for a player to progress in (other than QB) than a 3-4 DE. Jackson will get better, and when he does hopefully we will have playmaking Linebackers who can take advantage.

The Original member of the Ndamukong Suh bandwagon

by averagegatsby on Dec 6, 2009 1:32 PM CST up reply actions

so now its our linebackers fault?

I think Hali and Vrabel have been pretty decent this year. I think our MLB position could be upgraded and hopefully Studebaker makes more progress this offseason

* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

What the hell....

Can we get something from the O?

Predictions for 2009:

The Chiefs will regret cutting LJ

Bowe's numbers regress due to lack of decent QB play.

The D gets better in the second half but still is plagued by big plays

Cassel looks more like the guy Pioli almost cut in the '08 preseason instead of the franchise QB he hoped he would be when he traded him for

Chiefs 3-13

Hell of an FG

Lenny and Mitch were saying that he came up short from the 50 during warmups. That’s got to make it a tougher kick. Ryan the Lion!

14-3 vs 14-6

Deal with it, that decision made it a one possession game for the math impaired.

good to have the points

but trading TD’s for FG’s is not going to cut it

by KCCheeze on Dec 6, 2009 1:24 PM CST reply actions

we should be ahead 17-14

But on the other hand, as poorly as our D has played. I’m happy going into the locker room with the score the way it is…

Anyone know if Vexcast is legit?

I can’t find any info about their reliability online.
