5 Offensive Players Scott Pioli Cant Miss This Draft
via media.kansan.com
Dezmon Briscoe Kansas WR junior, but, is probably 99% going to go this year, because Mangino has been fired and guess who the quarterback is next season Kale Pick. He maybe runs crisper routes then Jordan Shipley you cant miss this kid in the 3rd round. This would make a great receiving core with Bowe,Briscoe,Long,Darling,Copper. I dont see us resigning any of are receivers. Hint Chambers,Bradley. Stats 84 catches 1337 yards with 9 touchdowns and averages 15 yards a catch. NFL comparison Andre Johnson Texans

sorry for bad quality
Anthony McCoy TE USC, This kid is the Tight End version of Dwayne Bowe, has long arms soft hands and a huge leap down the seam. His main asset is in the run game where at 6-5 255 pounds is an athletic freak. Where in the passing game he uses his long arms to block speed rushers. Stats 20 catches, 443 yards averaging 22 yards per catch and 1 touchdown. NFL comparison Mercedes Lewis Jacksonville
NO VIDEO
Sam Young RT Notre Dame, He is a perfect fit for are zone blocking scheme, from what I have heard a big athletic freak is needed at tackle for the zone scheme. At 6-8 320 pounds he makes defensive linemen disappear. So basically is a perfect fit in the 4th or 5th round. Stats none. NFL comparison Jordan Gross North Carolina Panthers.
via pictopia.com
Brandon Banks WR/KR Kansas State, He is the special teams player of the year, for the Big 12. Is a Dante Hall clone, and an underachiever at receiver but at 5-7 143 pounds is a speed demon who is a threat to take it back every return. Stats 56 catches for 705 yards, 1 touchdown and averages 12 yards a catch. NFL comparison a mix of Darren Sproles and Dante Hall. San Diego and out of the league.
Charles Scott RB LSU, This kid is a big bruiser, and would make a good tandem with Charles but his only concern is that he has a injury riddled past. But his big athletic build will probably make him slide to the 5th round. But the thing I like most about this kid is his desire for blocking he maybe the second best blocker for LSU, next to Ciron Black. Stats 116 542 yards, 5.4 average 4 touchdowns. NFL comparison Larry Johnson Bengals.

NOOOO briscoe
He had a terribly disappointing season this year. I’m talking about big drops during big moments. I’d be surprised if he even gets drafted.

you'd be surprised if he gets drafted?
you’ve got to be kidding.. why dont you watch that clip up there and tell me we dont need that in KC. He’ll go by the 3rd round at least.
He'll be taken early but not by us
He doesn’t do things the Pioli/Haley way at all.
Character issues and can’t even focus enough to hold onto the ball. Not the professional that the guys are looking for. I would call him a less talented Dwayne Bowe.
Ive said this before and I'll say it again...
There is absolutely no possible way Sam Young is around for the 4th round… Let alone the 5th round.
Not only that, but Pioli isn’t going to draft a big name TE for Haley. His system is very WR heavy, so why waste a pick on a big name when more than likely the TE will only be used for blocking.
This space for rent.
That was my thinking LAST offseason, but they mostly went after guys who wanted to catch the ball and weren't great blockers.
And they’ve definitely been looking to get the ball to a big man in the middle, same as everyone’s been doing to KC this season (except Chokeland, oddly enough). I would rather seem ‘em go after a brutal blocker who can make the occasional catch, but after watching the KC D this season, it’s not at all clear to me that a pass catcher who also blocks fairly well might cause defenses more problems than the lumbering sort of player I’m looking for while KC is still in search of a dominant front 5.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
Tortured prose.
Started out to be a double negative, and missed the 2nd half of it. (sigh)
I’m saying that I’m up in the air as to what sort of TE, exactly, would do the most good. About all I’m clear on is I don’t want to spend high picks on TE until other position groups are addressed more aggressively.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
Sam Young is a guy who could go in the 2nd 3rd 4th 5th
Hate Larry Johnson.
So if he COULD go in the 2nd or 3rd...
why would you say that we should take him in the 4th or 5th… Granted if he were for some reason to fall that far we should take him, but you can’t make predictions like that.
If Sam Bradford were to fall to the 2nd 3rd 4th or 5th then you have to take him too.

But
my favorite is Charles Scott
Hate Larry Johnson.
banks could be worth a 5th rounder
No to Briscoe and Scott
Young would be fine… though I think Zone Blocking schemes usually call for more athletic, quicker tackles, not huge maulers…
Selvish Capers is the kind of OT that could go late in the 2nd, and start at LT, potentially.
I also like Ciron Black and Jason Fox in the 2nd round
Cant miss guys? how about Toby Gerhart, RB ? That’s the ONLY RB in the draft that I’d be really excited to get.
* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season
* Stats are for losers
hes a hiesmen canidate and a team like Cleavlend or Philidephia will get him before us
Hate Larry Johnson.
why do you refuse to hit reply?

I'd be fine with drafting Banks
I was apprehensive at first but after seeing that return at around 1:30 I’m convinced he would make a great returner in the NFL. The way he drew the other team into the center of the field and then exploded to the outside shows me he isn’t just a pure speed guy.
Why in the world
are we comparing Chambers and Bradley to Amdre Johnson? Does anyone compare to AJ? Maybe Fitzgerald…possibly a healthy Megatron…yup…tha’s about it. If teams stop resigning receivers for not comparing well to AJ, we better get used to a shitload of Zero WR sets flooding the NFL.
Or are you comparing Briscoe to AJ? If that’s the case, then it’s time for a ride on the

This is my signature line. It is full of awesome and win.

I couldn't agree more...
The way I read it…Dezmon Briscoe’s NFL Player comparison according to this post is ANDRE JOHNSON….
Andre Johnson – 6’-2", 230, 4.40 – Arguably the best WR in the NFL , and zero character concerns.
http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=28243&draftyear=2003&genpos=WR
Dezmon Briscoe – 6’-3", 200, 4.62 – Productive college WR in spread offense with concentration drop concerns, questionable speed to separate or ability to beat NFL corner in press coverage and character concerns (suspension from team in spring 09).
http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=68736&draftyear=2011&genpos=WR
I personally think Briscoe will be a good possession receiver given some time to develop in a pro style offense. However, I in no way see any comparisons to Andre Johnson, nor have I seen any draft site make such comparisons.

Briscoe
I would take him anyday over Banks, Banks is a kick returner who can play a little receiver, HE is a Devin HEster type player, Briscoe does occasionally make some drops but his potential as an nFL player is unlimited, IF you guys like Dwayne Bowe you will like Briscoe
Interesting post...But...
How on earth do you see the Chiefs NOT resigning Chambers? the guy has been one of the few bright spots on the team this year, and has become a favorite target of Matt Cassell. I just don’t see how he doesn’t get re-signed in the offseason. Do I think that Briscoe would make a good WR for the Chiefs? Yes, absolutely. Do I think that we’d get rid of Chambers in favor of keeping Darling and Dropper? No way. Also, We already have a big, bruising back on our team, in fact there was a post about the kid just yesterday, Javarris Williams. McCoy and Young would be good pick ups, I think, though. Honestly, I think Chambers still has a couple of good years left in him, Bowe is going to learn a lot from the guy, and If we got guys like Briscoe, Young, And McCoy, I could be happy with that. However, we still have a LOT of offseason work to do, on both sides of the ball. We still need depth at most of the defensive positions, help at safety, We need more O linemen. Not a bad post, and for the most part I agree with you, I just don’t see how the Chiefs don’t retain Chambers.

I think what you're seeing also are more convincing threats from Wade and Long (and a little Bradley).
You don’t cover these two and they WILL catch all the catchables. What I’m wondering, here, is how much of it is just that, and whether Chambers and Bowe would both be better without the other on the field at the same time. I see Chambers as halfway between possession receiver and deep threat, which flourishes when paired up with more speed and quickness at the other wideout spots. Re-signing him would hardly be bad, but I suspect that Bowe and he might not be the best complementary pair of starting wideouts.
"Ow! You knocked my tooth out!!"
"Yeah? Well, Colt makes a heavy firearm. That's a fact."
Where's Mardy Gilyard?
Or Golden Tate. If either of those two guys fall to the 2nd round, we would immediately acquire a speed receiver (with hands) who can also fill kick return duties.
Oh, and the best Kansas receiver was Kerry Meier. If he’s available in the 5th round, I’d be happy with him. Coming from a Husker fan, I actually enjoyed watching him play.
Kerry is a tweener between reciver and Tight End
Hate Larry Johnson.
