Around SBN: The End Of Sabanball: Details, Barbarians, And Precision

First, the Chiefs have a terrific RB in Jamaal Charles. He has shown unreal speed, and is a definate threat when he gets to the edges. Denver could challenge the edges with a traditional 3-4 defense, but in the 5-2 look the OLB/DEs are more likely to be plugging gaps than containing the outside. Expect Denver to respect Jammal by either zoning an OLB wide or placing a LB in man coverage. Both safeties will be watching for wide runs as well.

Is it just me?

or does Charles not look as fast as he’s hyped? I mean, when he gets on the edge he’s picking up yardage and making tacklers miss but I’m really not seeing this breakaway speed people talk about it. Sproles, now there is one fast mofo. He just looks fast. But Charles’ running style on the other hand doesn’t strike me as speedster. Maybe it’s his long strides he takes. Something about his running style doesn’t live up to the hype. My brother in law and I were talking about this at least weeks game.

my friend got tickets to the game last week

And the first thing he said is that charles was really fast and made sproles look slow. Now I’m not saying he is right but he said that guy is blazing fast sproles has a diff running style sproles looks so fast cuz his steps are choppy and he has good speed out he gate. Charles seems like a longer stride runner who needs a couple strides to get away and that’s why I think sproles it more dangerous sproles sees day light he’s gone. Charles sees daylight his strides r so long he gives guys a chance to react. That’s my opinion.

yea I agree

plus naturally fast people dont look like they are trying when they run hard almost like they arent trying which is the case with charles.

If you see on that kickoff he took to the house, there was a small gap of about 3 defenders and he shoots by all of them

i know we have all seen it plenty of times but for shits and giggles

I was at the game and said the same thing

charles almost took 4-5 touches to the house that you wouldnt see on TV…he takes any daylight and goes 5-10 yards before anyone can blink

sproles looked like jesse chatman compared to charles….

Ive seen some great backs, the best being faulk and holmes in terms of multi purpose, but charles made some plays ive never seen a guy make before, some cuts that were barry sanders like…and he can block

add in that catch up the sidelines, which had SD fans CRYING, literally every SD fan was in AWE of charles…my friend, a SD fan who went with me, said we are SO LUCKY, because charles is only 22 years old, he couldnt believe it.

charles takes longer strides when he runs so it doesn't look like he's running as fast

unlike sproles or mjd. they look like their going faster because their legs are moving a lot faster. On the other hand, randy moss never looks like he’s running very fast because he takes huge strides but he still tends to blow past everyone.
