Chiefs Could Have Two RBs Missing the Broncos Game
You take one step forward and then take two back....
As of yesterday, it appeared Chiefs RB Dantrell Savage would be available to play on Sunday against the Denver Broncos. The question then was whether RB Kolby Smith, who was downgraded to a non-participant in practice, would be available to play.
As it turns out, both players could miss Sunday's game. Here's the situation, via Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com.
RB Kolby Smith not at practice
Uh-oh..a Chiefs player suffering an injury that's unaccounted for at practice has generally meant a trip to IR. I haven't heard anything about that though.
Yesterday Chiefs coach Todd Haley said of Smith, "Yeah, we’ll know a little bit more [tomorrow]. We’ll list him as [did not practice today] but we’ll have to see what’s up."
It's possible Smith was getting medical tests done during practice. Or he's going to IR. Or he'll play Sunday. The point is we don't now "what's up" yet.
RB Dantrell Savage downgraded
Yesterday, Savage was listed as a limited participant and via multiple folks we heard he was running pretty well.
Today? The rehab zone. We're not sure what this means for Savage's status on Sunday but practicing on Friday is a big part of Haley's determination on who is active and who isn't.

I want to see a Williams/Charles 1-2 punch

Good point
We still have Javarris Williams on practice squad. I wonder if this becomes his first week active. Seems like we’d heard about that at practice though…
I think we need a bruiser to run inside on the Donks. Could be Javarris or I guess Tim Castille could fill that role. Not sure, but it seems that their defense is build more for speed to defense the outside. So, we need to be physical inside with them…
I could be wrong though — what the heck do I know! If I was good at this, I’d have a job in the NFL, right?
"Every day is an evaluation and if you’re not out there how can we depend on you? If you’re out there and you don’t know what to do, how can we depend on you?" Accountability -- Haley-style...
I was just going to ask that,
if Smith goes to IR can they bring J Williams up from the PS. If so we can get a preview of our version of Thunder and Lighting.
The Greatest Trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
Officially on the FIRE TODD HALEY BANDWAGON.
Chris Perry signing imminent?

Chiefs will be lucky to go 4-12 in 2010

Not a good thing...
Even though I like the way 25 has played for the most part, it isnt a good thing with just one back ready to go. Could be big trouble against the Donks.. So much for those that claim that a lack of conditioning is what lead to all the injuries last year.
Predictions for 2009:
The Chiefs will regret cutting LJ
Bowe's numbers regress due to lack of decent QB play.
The D gets better in the second half but still is plagued by big plays
Cassel looks more like the guy Pioli almost cut in the '08 preseason instead of the franchise QB he hoped he would be when he traded him for
Chiefs 3-13
I think it is time for Javarris Williams to get promoted
Chris Perry is also a possibility, but this late into the week, we need someone that knows the offense that can step in if Charles needs a spell. Looks like Quinten Lawrence will be returning kicks this week — so no big returns.
Williams gets promoted. We sign Chris Perry and inactivate him for this week. Savage and Kolby Smith both to IR. That’s my prediction. :-)
