Kolby Smith the Lone Chief Missing Practice
Once again the Kansas City Chiefs took the field in healthy fashion. 52 of the team's 53 players participated in practice this morning according to Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com.
RB Kolby Smith was the lone player missing. He rode the stationary bike the rehab area instead.
Smith suffered an injury several weeks ago and has been hobbled ever since. He's had just two carries in the last two games. If he can't go on Sunday, expect Dantrell Savage to take some of his carries.
Smith and Savage both were listed as limited participants in yesterday's practice according to the official NFL practice report. Savage ran drills today so his recovery seems to be better than Smith's.
The four other players listed on the Chiefs practice report yesterday included Andy Alleman, Justin Rogers, David Herron and Mike Vrabel. All were listed as full participants.
As Looney notes, not having Smith and/or Savage would mean an increase in carries for Jamaal Charles and potentially a decrease in his return duties.

Sorry, but...
I’m calling it now. Kolby is a bust!
I had and still have some high hopes for him, but every week he seems to have a difficult time getting on the field. I know he’s coming back from a major injury, but seems like he’s stayed injured…
I hope he proves me wrong. I like the kid, but its hard to see him staying on the team next year.
"Every day is an evaluation and if you’re not out there how can we depend on you? If you’re out there and you don’t know what to do, how can we depend on you?" Accountability -- Haley-style...
yeah
I feel bad for him, I’m sure he could contribute….
but, if you can’t stay on the field, you can’t play.
He might land on IR, then the unemployment line in the offseason
* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season
* Stats are for losers
Agreed
Smith seems to have agood head on his shoulders and I like what I’ve heard about him. But we haven;t been able to rely on him to play in two consecutive games. He always seems to be hurt. I think he’s running out of chances to prove himself.
I'm not sure I blame him
He can’t get on the field because Charles has been taking off like a rocket! I wouldn’t blame Kolby for that.
Vrabel full participant?
What happened to the 4-6 weeks that Babb (I think it was Babb) reported?
Thanks
I thought I heard 4-6. Either way, a quick recovery.
Plus it will be 3 weeks only if he misses, but if he plays he will have only missed 2 weeks. I am still a little surprised given Babb’s prognosis. I was thinking it would be closer to the 5-6 end since Vrabel is a veteran and older players typically take longer to heal.
Thanks for the clarification though. :-)
