If you look at the Personal and Coaching staff there are problems like Offensive coordinator and defensive Coordinator, Defensive backs coach and Quarterbacks coach. These are the easy things to fix because there is so many good play callers out there like Charlie Weis, Mike Martz ect... And because personally I believe Clancy is calling horrible plays, and there are d coaches like Romeo, Brian Stewert,Erick Mangini(if fired) ect.. Who would be good replacements for Clancy. But the other open spots like DB coach and Quarterbacks coach is harder to fill so maybe someone like Trent Green I don't know its up to Scott. The next thing is the 53 man roster, are biggest holes like Safety,NT,CB,OG,C can all be addressed this offseason. So my plans would be to first sign a center or a guard so you don't have to draft one. Guys like Justin Hartwig who I believe is from Kansas, and saw us win against his Steelers so he would defiantly consider coming here. So if he does then you have a center locked in for years to come, then you still have an opening at right guard, so there are also some guys like Jason Spitz,Logan Mankins,Manuel Ramirez the only one we have a chance at signing is Mankins because the pats have so many free agents like Wilfork,Kaczur,Mankins, Stephan Neal. All these high priced guys cant all be signed so either Mankins of Neal would we an excellent pickup. So there are still two big holes left so I say we go with nose tackle because this class is loaded in the secondary. And I have heard rumors quisling around that the Steelers are not resigning Casey Hampton and if we could sign him to a one year deal. Or another possible nose tackle is Aubrayo Franklin who plays nose tackle for San Francisco. So now that were done with free agency next is the NFL Draft, where I am thinking we hit the defense hard this year, because the old saying defense wins championships. So heres my mock.
Round 1 Taylor Mays S USC, this gives us the athleticism we need at safety, with Page and Taylor lined up together it gives us speed and versatility in our secondary. Stats, 79 tackles 1 interception.
Round 2 Jermaine Gresham TE Oklahoma, this opens up our offense and gives us a threat over the middle and did I mention he can block to. Stats, Injured reserve
Round 2 Toby Gerhart RB Stanford with a solid offensive line this kid will flourish, fits perfect into Todd Haley's system of single back formations and would give us the bruiser we lost in Larry Johnson.
Stats, 311 attempts with 1736 yards rushing, averaging 5.6 yards with 26 touchdowns.
Round 3 Trevard Lindley CB Kentucky, this gives us a shutdown corner opposite Brandon Flowers. Imagine a secondary that dosent give up 400 yards a game wow. Stats, 29 tackles with 1 interception.
Round 4 Micah Johnson LB Kentucky gives a 3rd down linebacker who loves to stuff the run. Stats, 100 tackles and 1 sack.
Round 5 Danny Batten LB/DE SD State, gives us a pass rush, and is co defensive player of the year in the Missouri Valley Divison. Stats, 9 sacks and 82 tackles and hes a defensive end.
Round 5 Myron Rolle Safety Florida State, gives us a special teams beast, and could one day start. Stats, 62 tackles
Round 5 Brandon Banks WR/KR takes over duty of kick returns where he set a k-state record with 5 kick return touchdowns. Sounds like a Dante Hall clone. Stats, 56 receptions for 705 yards with 1 touchdown. And was nominated for special teams player of the year with 5 kick return touchdowns.
Stats by ESPN.
