No Chiefs In The Pro Bowl For The First Time Since '78

The NFL has released the list of players who have been awarded with a Pro Bowl appearance and it includes no Kansas City Chiefs players.

This is the first time since 1978 that no Chief has been represented at the Pro Bowl.

Sigh.

There's always a chance an injury will keep someone out of playing and then maybe a Chief could be tapped.

Tony Gonzalez was previously our saving grace in being represented at the Pro Bowl. Brian Waters, too. But with Gonzalez and Waters playing on a less than spectacular offensive line, that era has ended.

Davis Witten Celek and TG all had good years

Just a good season for TEs in the NFC

He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is

SO

Chiefs, TB, and Detroit is that the only teams not represented

We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09. Almost there :)
And Succop will be the Key in two of them. Skins & Raiders! Pittsburgh Sweet!

Rather sad to go to playoffs and not get a Pro-Bowl berth

We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09. Almost there :)

he's probably next in line

for the RBs in case some one goes down.

UCrawford will eventually calm down and realize that Haley isn't a bad coach.
Will embrace the Fire Haley Bandwagon if we lose to the raiders by more then a TD...
..But we aren't going to lose.
LJ will not land in Pittsburgh
The Chiefs will not be the number one pick in this years draft
The Chiefs first pick of the draft will NOT be a OL
Thinks UCrawford just needs a hug... offer is there when you are ready UC :p

Kansas City, Cincinnati, Tampa Bay, Detroit, Seattle, and Atlanta dont have any one going to the pro bowl

Cinci and Atlanta biggest surprises

He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is

No Corey Mays?!?!? WTF!!!!!

Happy HMills? ;)

This is my signature line. It is full of awesome and win.

by KCSatchmo on Dec 29, 2009 6:31 PM CST reply actions   1 recs

Now Satchmo

you know if we grab a stud NT, and Mays gets to the Pro Bowl, Mills is never gonna let you live that one down =)

I'll be ok with that

This is my signature line. It is full of awesome and win.

by KCSatchmo on Dec 29, 2009 6:36 PM CST up reply actions

As a matter of fact

I’d be okay with that too………

by Hail2DaChiefs on Dec 29, 2009 6:38 PM CST up reply actions

The person who should be most pissed about this is

Clark Hunt. It is an embarrassment in my opinion for the team not to be represented. The second most pissed group should be the Chiefs players.

Winning begins with Attitude - Haley and Pioli will be winners in KC!

I'll forever be a Chiefs fan! Only God himself could take that away from me, but when I get to my great reward, I'll rejoin two bigger fans, my Mom and Dad.

agree

what about colquitt?

Lechler is in on name recognition alone…colquitt has more punts inside the 20 and less touchbacks

Ha

read my damn mind!

by KCinIL on Dec 29, 2009 6:40 PM CST up reply actions

First position I looked at

this is why fans shouldn’t be allowed to vote, majority of them are idiots who only know the top skill players who are doing well, then they just pick who they have heard of before…all the commentators handed lechler the nod.

by Scalper7 on Dec 29, 2009 6:46 PM CST up reply actions   1 recs

most people just vote for

either peopl on their favorite team, or names of superstars that they hear in the media or see on their fantasy football team…most fans don’t vote based on who is having the best season

by KCCheeze on Dec 29, 2009 6:48 PM CST up reply actions

maybe if lechler is SB bound Colquitt is the choice

We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09. Almost there :)

Colquitt

Brian Moorman is better than both of them. His problem is he kicks in Buffalo. If him and Lechler traded teams Moorman would be in the Pro Bowl every year. Buffalo’s weather conditions knock his numbers down but he is the best

by Newbaum Turk on Dec 29, 2009 7:04 PM CST up reply actions

Woulda been okay with Moorman

he would be deserving of it too

Patience is truly a virtue, good things will happen soon

by Scalper7 on Dec 29, 2009 7:07 PM CST up reply actions

I am a little surprised

On Collqitt not gettin the nod…thought he did better at his position than Lechler

by KCinIL on Dec 29, 2009 6:40 PM CST reply actions

He did but Lechlers 80 yard punts makes everyone horny...

Even if he gives up the most return yards of any punter. Guys like Scifres and Colquitt who are true masters of the punting proffesion will always be overlooked.

i am not a big fan of the pro bowl thing. once a player has established himself he gets in almost every year at certain positions

by pmwz on Dec 29, 2009 6:47 PM CST reply actions

Exactly

Doesn’t matter, they screwed the pro bowl by having it before the super bowl…just think if Minnesota and Indy make it to the super bowl, we will see a ton of alternates.

but no Chiefs…

WTF?

how did Bryant McKinnie, Vernon Davis, tom brady and Shane Lechler make it?

by fujirio on Dec 29, 2009 7:22 PM CST reply actions

Name recognition?

Bryant McKinnie is the only one of the 4 that probably doesn’t deserve it and he is hardly a household name.
Who is more deservant than Davis, Brady or Lechler at their positions? And don’t say Colquit, truth is Colquit is awesome but is probably the 3rd best punter in the AFC West (Not a slight at Colquit, but Lechler and Scifers are the best in the buis)

by craig in calgary on Dec 29, 2009 7:30 PM CST up reply actions

Lechler has a hell of a leg...he sometimes out kicks his coverage team...

More often than does Colquitt…but he’s a hell of a punter….Mckinnie has looked like doo doo lately but Davis and Brady are no brainers. Thoes are legit picks…the NFL is better about actually picking all stars than the MLB

Don't Fuccop Succop

by chicks_love_chiefs on Dec 29, 2009 7:37 PM CST up reply actions

tony G, Matt schaub, Carson palmer, colquitt

by fujirio on Dec 29, 2009 8:09 PM CST up reply actions

sorry not carson palmer

not carson palmer i meant Ben Roethlisberger

and colquitt has more in the 20 than lechler and less return yards

by fujirio on Dec 29, 2009 8:12 PM CST up reply actions

Well...

Vernon Davis led the league for TDs by TE. Jason Witten only has one TD and he made it over Brent Celek… who has 8. Only Randy Moss has more receiving TDs that Vernon Davis… and he did not make it to the Pro Bowl!!

by dragon6172 on Dec 29, 2009 8:44 PM CST up reply actions

hey maybe KC should have picked Orakpo …

He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is

by WarWolf on Dec 30, 2009 2:19 PM CST up reply actions

The plan is comming together.

It’s about the right 53 not the best 53. We have purged our roster of all of the “bests”. Phase one is now complete. Look on the bright side at least Pollard didn’t make the pro bowl. Somehow I think that might of stung a little.

Go Todd Haley!

by Idahochief on Dec 29, 2009 8:32 PM CST reply actions

lol – well KC sure doesn’t have the best 53

He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is

by WarWolf on Dec 30, 2009 2:19 PM CST up reply actions

Not so sure...

about Miles Austin making it for the NFC. Realize the guy had some good games, but was it really Pro Bowl worthy?

by dragon6172 on Dec 29, 2009 8:40 PM CST reply actions

yes

check out his stats.

If only Charles started all games...

Hali, Johnson, Vrable, Mays, Williams, Studebaker, Belcher

-Come Get Some-

by Chiefsfan85 on Dec 29, 2009 10:50 PM CST reply actions

My first take was that Tony G got screwed by the fan vote

But looking at the stats it was actually Brent Celek that should have been in for the NFC Tight End spot.

I hate that so many Cowboys always get voted in. This year they mostly deserved it, but usually they are highly over-represented.

"The way this works is you string together some good games, some good practices and you get momentum and you gain confidence," linebacker Mike Vrabel said. "It can be a real positive for your team. It builds on itself."
