My Off-Season as GM !

Obviously the Chiefs need a few players.  I have come up with a few possible moves the Chiefs could make to try and turn this thing around!

Offer contracts to these Free Agents:

NT- Ryan Pickett  He signed a deal for 4 years and $14 million, and a rookie deal for 5 years and around $6 million.  With one major problem being NT, the Chiefs have the money and need to make this happen. (5 yrs/ $30 million*)

NT- Casey Hampton  If Pickett for some reason re-signs or goes elsewhere Hampton would be the next best choice.  Hampton would want more jack, but with him being the second option the Chiefs would have to spend big!

FS- Daniel Manning  Playmaking FS who is on the outside looking in on the Bears roster.  As the second major need for KC, Manning would fit in and come at a reasonable price.  (3 yrs/ $7 million*)

C- Olin Kruetz  Unhappy in Chicago means he would be willing to sign elsewhere for a little change. (2 yrs/ $13 Million*)

OG-Duece Lutui or Dave Baas will more than likely be mulling over offers this off-season.  Bringing in one of these players would help tremendously.  (3 yrs/ $13 million*)

CB- Marlin Jackson  With both starting CB's coming from the same draft as 3rd and 6th round picks adding another CB would be beneficial.  Jackson would love the chance to fight for a starting job also.  (3 yrs/ $8 million*)

RB- Deshawn Wynn Drafted by GB to compete for playing time, but spent time on the injured list.  Could be a power back to complement Charles.  (2 yrs/ $4 million*)

*= possible contract terms

Draft

Rd. 1 Weatherspoon, LB, Mizz   (Chiefs can take the best LB available, IMO that's Weatherspoon...insert your choice if you disagree.)

Rd. 2 Mike Pouncey, OG, Fla  (Obvious need being filled, could also learn and develop under the FA signing from above.)

Rd. 2 J.D. Walton, C, Bay (Again...Obvious need being filled, could also learn and develop under the FA signing from above.)

Rd. 3 Norwood, LB, SCAR (Highly underrated LB that could have an immediate impact on special teams as well as at LB)

Rd. 4 Rolle, S, FSU (Quality character, willingness and ability to learn, and the chance to play immediately makes Rolle a great choice.)

Rd. 5 Binn, WR, Cin (When Pike needed a sure catch he looked Binn's way, with the drops in KC and the fact Binn is (6'4" 200lbs) bigger than any KC reciever means he would look real good in red!)

Rd. 5 Render, OG, VT  (Again...Obvious need being filled, could also learn and develop under the FA signing from above.)

Rd. 5 Pitta, TE, BYU  (Team player willing to get the job done whether he is catching TD's or blocking for them.)

These moves would bring in secondary help, replenish the LB corp, and plug the middle on Defense.  On the Offensive side the Chiefs are not that bad, minus the line.  This scenario brings in 5 lineman to protect and open holes.  Adding the sure-handed Binn brings a bigger, physical WR that has handled the attention being a number 2 wr brings succesfully.

That's my take on things...

GO CHIEFS!
