LJ Not a Factor Against the Chiefs

Several weeks after saying he would "gallop" all over the Chiefs, RB Larry Johnson carried the ball four times for just 11 yards - about an average of 2.75 yards per carry.

With just under 10 minutes left to play in the second quarter, LJ caught a 9 yard pass and was tackled near the sidelines by Demorrio Williams. Johnson quickly jumped up and was started jawing at Williams as he was pulled back by one of the referees. I'm not sure if Demorrio said anything or if LJ was just hyped up but Williams was eventually pulled away by one of his teammates.

Jason Whitlock of the Kansas City Star said of LJ, "Bengals win but at least LJ made a fool out of himself. Is there a dumber player in the league?"

LJ had just one more carry the rest of the game.

During the game, the CBS announcers said Jamaal Charles and LJ still stay in contact to some degree.

"Charles said he got a text from Larry that said, 'You need to hang onto the ball.' The announcers talked about some of the friendships LJ still had on the team.

LJ's replacement on the Chiefs, Charles, is still within striking distance of 1,000 yards.  Charles had 102 yards on 24 carries against the Bengals bumping his total just 139 yards short of 1,000.

2.7 washed up

I think after the season is over no one will want 2.7 .

woooo 2.7!!!!!! YEA!

but JC passing the 1000 yard mark would be beautiful.

When you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail.
RIP Chris Henry #15 (Bengals)
RIP Derrick Thomas #58 (Chiefs)

What's most pleasing about this thread is the TOTAL lack of interest.

I’m just sorry that I’m adding to the apparent interest by posting at all.

Prediction for '09: Chiefs are looking like a .500 team, especially considering Denver's inattention to D-Line, Chokeland's disarray, and a San Diego team that looks like it's on the decline. With a weak schedule, Chiefs steal a few and win between 7 and 9 games, and if .500 or better, will contend for supremacy in a weak division.

139!

dang, Charles is legit. He’s even a better runner than Priest.

NO

This is Charles first season as the starting RB, he didn’t even get a full season thanks to 2.7. Yes he has signs of priest in him and the speed also but there will never be another priest no matter how much we pray.

by chiefs58 on Dec 27, 2009 11:01 PM CST reply actions

not the same, but possibly better

Charles looks like a better runner while Priest was the better receiver. To be perfectly honest, Priest benefited from running behind Roaf, Waters, Shields, Wiegman, and Tait in 2002/2003. Priest was AMAZING for 3 seasons with the best line pro football and a coach who was willing to stick with the run. There’s no doubt that Charles can break most of Priest’s records once the current O-line improves.

quest for 1000 yards

if haley is smart or if he cares about his players and moral then he’ll feed Charles the rock next week and let Charles get his 1000 yards.

We need to draft Eric Berry, no if's / and's or buts about it!!!!

I would think so.

y not. 1st year starter and not even started a full year, behind arguably the worst Line in the league and still achieving 1000 yards in only what 8 starts? being deactivated in game 2 cuz coach thought nothing of him. talk about a confidence boost.

We need to draft Eric Berry, no if's / and's or buts about it!!!!

JC is something to build around.........finally!

Of all the low lights of this season, the one constant has been JC. Thank you LJ for being an jerk and getting your walking papers. Aparently JC and LJ stay in touch…….and I hope JC takes everything that LJ tells him and does the exact opposite (except for holding on to the ball (listen to him on that one)). Priest will always be a God for the fans of KC, but I believe we are seeing the second coming of Priest. JC is tough, smart, fast and doesnt care how the play is drawn up………he just finds the hole. Lets build around it, put this season behind us, and move ahead.
