Jack Harry Reports that Haley Gave Fan the Finger

On the local NBC News tonight, Jack Harry said he received emails from two different fans this weekend reporting that Todd Haley flipped them off while leaving the field and entering the tunnel. According to Harry, the fan yelled out that Todd Haley deserved to be fired and Haley looked up and flipped him off.  The fan says he has been a season ticket holder for two years longer than Haley has been alive.

You can watch a video of Jack Harry describing it with more detail on the link below. Frankly, I don't think the story of two unknown fans makes a credible enough source to report it on the news, but I guess it will get people's attention.

Yeah

This was posted on another site I saw.

I like how one angry email to Jack Harry gets you on the news – actually, that email just has to be critical of the Chiefs and he’ll put it on there.

And after watching this video

Jack Harry has simply lost it. He has very little credibility in my mind….“Todd Haley is a wuss! That’s Jack Smack.”

Sorry…can’t take anything this guys says seriously.

And I'm not calling for his job

I’ll admit – I watch these segments now and again but it’s purely entertainment. We saw this story floating around on a message board yesterday and didn’t think twice about it. He definitely presents a biased piece with really no legitimate sources. The pitchfork angle got old years ago, but he gets hysterical at times, almost like a car wreck.

by Joel Thorman on Dec 22, 2009 8:36 PM CST up reply actions

I enjoy watching him

just to see if his head might explode from all the piss and vinegar in his body. He’s like KC’s own Mickey Rooney, always has something to gripe about.

It’s a little odd because when I hear him on 810, he’s nowhere near as doom and gloom as he portrays himself to be on TV… but I haven’t heard him on there in a few weeks so maybe he is now… But stuff like this is kind of ridiculous. Even if Haley did flip a guy off, which I doubt, he’s a human with emotions just like anyone else.

If you only knew...

by IISaiNtII on Dec 23, 2009 9:23 AM CST up reply actions

It's more about the fact that

He throws things like this out there that, in theory, could cost someone a job and he doesn’t exercise appropriate journalist tactics like, you know, fact-checking or asking the “victim” of his report for their side.

All done in poor taste.

by Joel Thorman on Dec 23, 2009 9:54 AM CST up reply actions

Oh no I totally agree

But it’s one of those “guilty pleasures” of mine… I like to see train wrecks like Harry parade himself around like a know-it-all… Whitlock too. Every once in a while they get it right, but for the most part they’re just w-r-o-n-g.

I don’t think that act would cost Haley his job, but it could draw him a hefty fine from the NFL. It’s still pretty poor journalism to report something like this with no rebuttal from the accused though. Even something like “We contacted the brass at Arrowhead and got no response” would have been better than nothing.

If you only knew...

Yeah, I know he has a temper… But usually just with the players. He seems too smart to do something stupid like that they may jeopardize his standing with the organization. He’s usually really good about minding his temper with the media too.

Rec'd!

Thanks J-man. That is my main argument for anyone who wants to dump Haley now. We as a franchise can’t become the lions, browns, raiders, etc. and dump coaches every or every other year.

I don't think you keep an incompetent for appearances or stability.

But the guy doesn’t appear to be incompetent.

Prediction for '09: Chiefs are looking like a .500 team, especially considering Denver's inattention to D-Line, Chokeland's disarray, and a San Diego team that looks like it's on the decline. With a weak schedule, Chiefs steal a few and win between 7 and 9 games, and if .500 or better, will contend for supremacy in a weak division.

I don't think so either

But Haley has shown improvement over the season IMO.

Granted that hasn’t translated into wins but I have seen him improve his coaching and sideline demeanor.

I think Haley and Cassel will be in KC for some time.

Stupid fan, IMO

Those calling for Haley’s head already are the types whose approach to filling the coaching position would be like those of Al Davis or Dan Snyder.

Instant success is not only hard to achieve, but also generally built on a poor foundation that crumbles quickly.

I have a lot of pride for the Chiefs and their fans, but I see no reason why some drunk ass fan should be telling the coach of this horrible team that he should be fired.

I like that this coach isn’t going to take stupid shit from people. This is the beginning of a new era of Chiefs football, and a screw you, we’ll do what we want mentality should start with the HC.

That fan’s a dumbass anyways. Yeah, let’s fire Haley and start another rebuild next year. We would become the next OAK Raiders. I don’t want no coaching yo-yos.

It's just trying to stir up the pot

If the “fan” that wrote the e-mail that said Haley flipped him, had not already be calling for Haley’s job then I would think something might have happened. And even if I did I still don’t think it is a major issue the “fan” was acting like an ass and deserved to be treated in that way. However, this comes off as a way to stir the pot in hopes of getting Haley fired. (as the “fan” has made clear as his desire)

As far as Jack Harry goes it is a way to make him relevant again. I imagine his rating have dropped and as a way to stay employed has latched on this e-mail like a life preserver. Things like this will be repeated in the media and web sites by those that wanted to Chiefs to start winning overnight. In my humble opinion.

is it me? or isn't about time the Lamar Hunt trophy belonged to His team?

This Chiefs team is closer to a new expansion team than it is a playoff contender, your expectations should match that.
