Chiefs Checking Out a Receiver Today
A league source tells me that the Kansas City Chiefs are working out Chandler Williams today. A 24 year old receiver out of Bradenton, Florida, Williams is one of many receivers the Chiefs have checked out this season in order to combat the case of the dropsies that have taken over in recent weeks.
Williams comes in at 5'11", 178 pounds and hails from Florida International University.
Originally a 7th round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings, he's bounced around the league including stops with the Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons.
He was on the Dolphins while Chris Chambers was there so those two have a connection.
The Chiefs currently have open spots on the practice squad.

novel concept!
* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season
* Stats are for losers
Another wide receiver off the street
means he will start this next game, be thrown at about 8 times, catch a few of those then be benched the next week for Lance Long, Mark Bradley, Bobby Wade, or anyone else.
I say we just go get J.J. Birden and see if he can still play.
Can return kicks
“…top kick-off return specialist with an average of 21.7 yards on 19 returns…ranked No. 57 nationally in that category…”
He also lettered in badminton in HS.
badminton?
nice…sign him up
we need a guy who is battle tested in fierce competition like that!

I prefer
big receivers.
Isnt it a little..frustrating..to see us getting these small receivers?
Long – 5’11 186lbs
Chambers – 5’11 210lbs (I DO give Chambers credit because he plays bigger than his size)
Wade – 5’10 186lbs
Lawrence – 6’0 186lbs
I mean..I dont have anything against small speedy receivers, but its always easier for a QB to throw to a bigger target. To me, 6’2 is the smallest a receiver should be, UNLESS he’s a serious speed threat. At that point, I’d be willing to go down to 6’ flat. IF I were to ever dip below 6’, that guy better be 200+ lbs and have a serious vertical.
I like big, tall, physical receivers, and I’m sure QB’s like to throw to those types. I dont mind speedy receivers at all..you have to have a deep threat..but how hard is it to find a speedy receiver whos atleast 6’ tall?
Always raising the bar!
Long time Chiefs fan!! First time post!! Great spot.. I really enjoy this blog. I listen to Sirius Radio ( all NFL, all the time). I hope we keep looking for every postion of need untill it’s very hard to get on roster. Keep raising the bar..
Let’s keep Matriculating ball up the field!!
