Jamal Charles 1000 Yard season?
Can Jamal Charles Get 1000 yards this year? What does everyone think? he needs 241 more yards. has 2 more games. 120.5 yards per game is what he needs. he has 2 tough obstacles. the Donkey's and Bungles. it would be sweet if he gets the 1000 yards. currently at 759 yards and 5 td's so he might end up with 1000+ yards and at the 7+ touch downs. that would be extremely impressive. considering alot of people wrote him off begining of the year and now he looks to bring KC a 1000 yard rusher again. KC hasnt had a 1000 yard rusher in what 2 years now right? I personally hope he gets the 1000 yard mark. then next year improve the O-line in the off season and we could very well have our very own Chris Johnson.

Charles
yeah i just hope Charles doesnt get one ugly ass Grill like CJ has. it looks stupid.

Larry Johnson got so much credit for his partial season of rushing for 1750yds.
Here’s a comparison:
In games in which Jamaal Charles has logged 7+ carries in a game this season, he’s averaged 101.1yds. per game.
In games in which Larry Johnson logged 7+ games in that aforementioned season, he averaged 113yds. per game.
To me, the differences between LJ and JC are as follows: Larry did slightly more with much more help, and blocked like Mariah Carey’s chastity belt. JC does slightly less with much less help, actually puts effort into blocking, and is a much better receiver at this point in his career.

Add in LJ's
receiving and return yards please.
I bet the two match up a lot closer now.

I didn't add in Jamaal's receiving yardage
So I don’t see why that’s relevant.
He had 343 receiving yards. Charles has 272 in less time.

just saying
JC has contributed more in every aspect of the game than LJ ever did. He receives, returns, runs, and blocks. Only thing he doesn’t do is run as gunner on punts.

Yep
And it’s not like LJ did gunned either!
Man, people talked him up like he was some sort of unequaled RB, when in fact he was only one thing: a pure rusher. He could do that pretty well, and was one of the most effective in the league at it when he had a great line, but he didn’t do enough other things to make him even tolerable. I sighed a big sigh when KC drafted him.

And a big sigh of relief when he left.
But when he was drafted, I was CUSSIN’!
Prediction for '09: Chiefs are looking like a .500 team, especially considering Denver's inattention to D-Line, Chokeland's disarray, and a San Diego team that looks like it's on the decline. With a weak schedule, Chiefs steal a few and win between 7 and 9 games, and if .500 or better, will contend for supremacy in a weak division.
Watching Charles yesterday I was impressed with....
…his patience for the hole to open and how fast he hit the hole when it opened. He is fast no doubt but his acceleration is what makes him stand apart. Larry Johnson certainly has/had ability but in my opinion our o-line (in his hayday) made him look that much better. LJ couldn’t hit the hole that this o-line created fast enough, resulting in 2.7 yards per carry. Charles can and he is a star in the making, he is starting to show that “homerun” ability that alot of us hoped he would. A few upgrades to the o-line in the offseason and a decent backup to take the load off of him once in a while and Charles ceiling is limitless.
Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.
i agree that he has homerun ability
but we need to get whoever worked w/ tiki barber on holding on the ball, to work with charles. otherwise his fumbles are going to be a problem. he hasn’t lost many this season, but he’s had a handful of fumbles go out of bounds or be recovered by a fellow chief. that’s the only problem with him that i see (unless the bum shoulder gets worse as time goes on…i’d HATE to see his career cut short by injury)
Make sure you give The Hoff some love:
Here's to you Steve Hoffman
Unfortunatly the guy who turned Tiki around is still coaching the Giants.
Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.
His fumbles
aren’t THAT bad. We’re just used to LJ and Priest protecting the ball so well. I think he’ll overcome them, but they’re not a plague like dropped passes are.
And he doesn't fumble nearly often enough to warrant the reputation

agreed.

yes extremly patient
and thats a great quality. i was hoping yesterday that he would have gotten 200 yards. it would have been nice if he was the one getting the 286 yards. but hey theres always next year. and theres still 2 games left in the season.

I friggin' HATE this kinda talk!!!
Makes it harder for me to spend the whole day arguing for positions other than RB. Heh.
I still think that you set the table for these players. You get a blue-chipper, like Charles apparently is (and look at Marcus Allen’s early fumble stats – much worse), and you want to protect him from the big men, with YOUR big men, and with a passing game that gives you a passing option when teams gang up against the run.
Great as Charles is, I think we’re starting to see better play from 3 of the starting 5 OLs and sometimes all 5 of ’em. Still want OL help for next year, but KC looks 1 or 2 new faces away from being MUCH improved, at this point, and like they may not have to spend a whole pot of money for left tackle, but can make generally strong picks in the top-middle of the draft and have a truly beastly line.
I’m still scratchin’ my head on the drafting (and signing) of mostly maulers, and zone-blocking scheme on top of that. Maybe it’s a philosophy of going after the biggest guys they can find and teaching them to play at a lighter weight, but still be honest-to-God 300-lbers after the slim-down. True wide-body strength and frame, but with an edge in conditioning, and an emphasis on technique.

yeah, that seems counterintuitive
IF they knew ahead of time that they were going to the ZB, Goff and Brown seem to be the wrong guys to bring in.
Ndukwe, Alleman, O’Callaghan, Albert, Waters all now seem like they can be effective in a ZB scheme. (I’m curious to see Beswaf’s post on the OL this week)
Sounds like Richardson played pretty solid too, which gives more hope.
LT with the #1 pick is definately not at the top of my list, unless there just isn’t another player in his class that can be picked there.
What about the possibility of Matt Light being brought over from NE? Vollmer seems to be the LT of the future there…
IF that happens, then, obviously a LT should be off of the radar in rounds 1 and 2.
Center has to be the #1 priority on offense, Safety and NT on defense.

I like Matt Light, but I'm not sure how much gas is in the tank.
