Just goes to show in the NFL
There’s no such thing as “a sure thing.” I feel bad, but he should’ve known what he was getting into. Even if he went to a team like the Patriots (who also might not make the playoffs), there’s no way of knowing what might happen in one season.
I'm not a Cassel fan or a Tamba Hali Fan or a Jamaal Charles fan. I'm a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs.
It's fine with me.
The bottom line is he’s not a Chief anymore, and I want a high 2nd round pick more than I want to see him go to the playoffs. Sorry Tony G, good luck next year.
It should be higher then it's going to be.
A couple miracle wins pulled out of their ass and a weak schedule, this shouldve been a 5-6 win team at best. We should still get a top half of the 2nd round pick.

It's alright. He will fail out there and come back to the Chiefs.
Tony G is just another great who might not get that ring in his career. The sooner he realizes that, the better. :P jp
+10
I completely agree with this.

He could have stayed here and missed the playoffs
And Matt Cassel might have about 40 more completions to his credit….cause TG dont drop balls.
Gonzo gave up on the Chiefs. I have given up on him.
Gonzalez is dead to me.
Yep he got his wish...
and now he is on a different bad team.

I've been saying that for a while.
Honestly couldn’t care less. I wanted the Falcons to do poorly this season to make our compensation for him that much better, and I am getting what I wanted out of that deal. Hooray!
If you only knew...
I WAS the biggest TG supporter
During his rookie year I picked him to go All-Pro in the pre-season.My buddies and I would pick a player that we thought would be a stellar player for the year.I remember sitting at Arrowhead & we were all picking players & my buddies just laughed at my pick. “Riiiiiiiight, a TE”
Every year he proved to play better & better.Luckily the coaching staff saw his potential & increased his offensive role.Remember,TE’s really hadn’t been used AS much in the NFL until recently. Here & there, but it seems almost every team uses them in a passing capacity moreso nowadays.
I would have been fine with him leaving EXCEPT for the fact that he made such a stink WANTING to leave after signing a contract extension. He’ll never be the epitomy of a Chief like Bell,Dawson,Lanier,Holmes,Okoye,Word.
Had he just left & NOT re-signed & then wanted out,I’d think differently. The problem was that his excuse of “wanting to go to a playoff team” didn’t hold water with me.
I’m a Chief’s fan.Always was, always will be. If you don’t want to be with us,good riddance. Oh, & I have been rooting against the Falcons, just to spite him like he spited us.

Unlike most of these comments...
I actually feel sorta bad for him. No sour grapes, it is what it is. But on the same note, I’m not that worried about it. It was a value trade for us and while I didn’t agree with it, it was probably the right move regardless if that player in the 2nd pans out or not.
I like Gonzalez too
but that 2nd round pick looks better by the day. Plus I don’t have the wife remarking how cute he is anymore (you make a couple of trips to River Falls and live to regret it). He pretty much forced his way out of town and it turns out that he will be doing the same thing come playoff time that he does every year. Just happens that way. Maybe that pick will be spent on a receiver with more than hooks for hands.
If he had stayed...
If Gonzalez had stayed in KC, the Chiefs would have a better record than the Falcons would. He probably would’ve made the difference in a couple of KC games, and we’d have 5 or 6 wins by now. And Atlanta probably would have one or two more losses without him.
Neither team would be a Super Bowl contender. And next year, the Chiefs will be better off.
Kind of a blunder by Gonzalez though, he’s certainly no closer to a Super Bowl than he would’ve been if he stayed here.

We at least beat(tied) the Bills.
That seam route wouldve been TG instead of Chambers and no way Tony drops that ball. Also I’d like to think that starting at the 50 yard line in OT against the Cowboys Tony couldve at least got us the 12-15 yards to get into Succop range.

I was mad that he left
but for myself.
The man has career goals and ambitions and a short window in which he can achieve those ambitions. The Chiefs were good to Tony and Tony was good to the Chiefs.
He gave the Chiefs many years of service and then a valuable 2nd round pick in the twilight of his career. How many 1st round picks are such model people and players for their organization and then fetch almost as much draft value for the team that was given up to obtain him? Yeah, he got a little disgruntled at the end, though he did stop to save a man’s life, so I think we can give him a waiver on being human.
As far as I am concerned Tony G is square with the KC Chiefs House.

He lost me last season ...
After his tantrum when he didn’t break the record in the Chiefs win. Showed me right there he put himself above the team. He wanted to risk the win so he could get his record a week sooner. And don’t give me that BS about wanting to do it at home … just smoke to cover his ego. Good riddance.
