Be happy you are not a Denver or San Diego Fan.
Their records are better than KC's..........They both seem to have luck on their side during games...........Why wouldn't anybody want to be a Charger or Bronco fan? I'll tell you why, THEY ARE GOING NOWHERE! The Chargers and broncos may have descent teams, but when the playoffs come, these teams are not making it out of the first round. That's if both of them are lucky enough to make it in. From the looks of it now, San Diego will win the division and Denver has wild card potential, but they're not going to anything spectacular like the afc champ. game or the super bowl. Atleast as a Chiefs fan, you're not being let down. Who, honestly thought the Chiefs were gooing to the playoffs this year?not me...I would rather know that our team will be very good in a couple years than tolerate mediocraty during the season and hope for luck in the playoffs. The Chiefs will be a consistent playoff team in a few years, and mediocre play will be a thing of the past. You will be purchasing your playoff tickets in October because you know we are going....Homefield advantage too, none of this road shit...

I could agree about Denver to some extent....
But San Diego has Rivers so I think they’ll be pretty good for quite a while.
It’s all about the QB.
When LT and Gates start (or continue) going downhill
I think Rivers will look much less stellar.
Ryan Succop will be the kicker for the AFC in the 2011 Pro Bowl
LT is already downhilll
And Gates had a down year (for him) last year and Rivers still had a great year.

Rivers might look good throwing up Hail Mary passes against the Chiefs
while the refs allow Hali to be held all day, but that isn’t going to happen against a playoff caliber team. Darren Sharper would be licking his chops looking at how Rivers throws the ball.
"The way this works is you string together some good games, some good practices and you get momentum and you gain confidence," linebacker Mike Vrabel said. "It can be a real positive for your team. It builds on itself."
I think it's a big mistake to underestimate Rivers
I think he’s got it going. He’s no flash in the pan and I haven’t seen him folding when the pressures on. The only thing that gives me hope of catching SD is that they’ve got Norv. But I’m afraid Rivers is going to be like Elway, a constant pain regardless of who’s calling the shots.

Agreed
hopefully we will give Cassel some weapons to compete with and a GAME to look forward to twice a year :)
We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09. Almost there :)
And Succop will be the Key in two of them. Skins & Raiders! Pittsburgh Sweet!

I disagree about that.
I watched the KC/SD game as well as the NO/NE game. The similarities between the 2 games was almost uncanny. I am a huge Drew Brees fan but, I have to admit that Philip Rivers played just as good of a game as Brees did. Both of those guys are able to put the ball in places where there is no way to defend it. All you can hope for is that the receiver drops it.
I was thinking about writing a fanpost about this but, unfortunately I have had a pretty busy week but, did anyone else notice the similarities between our game and the saints game? It started out looking like a dogfight until the first turnover of the game. The Saints and Chargers scored TDs off of those first turnovers and never looked back. Saints and Chargers continued applying pressure by putting points on the board and refused to allow us or New England back into the game. Obviously there was not a complete Chiefs blooper reel for the Pats because they are a much better team than us and will NEVER embarrass themselves like that but, the 2 games seemed very similar to me.

Phillip Rivers is THE most under rated QB in football today.
He is an amazing QB. He is big and strong and hard to tackle. In that respect he’s a lot like Ben Roethlisber. Only he has a slightly more accurate arm IMO. But that’s me. Either way though, he is phenom QB.

He is a good QB...
But I wouldn’t say he is hard to tackle….or sack. With Ben, he has a terrible line and frequently gets himself out of a number of sacks a game. Rivers isn’t touched often (especially by us) but when he is, he is not gonna fight out of it, at least not to a notable extent. Here and there, maybe, but it’s not like he is known for it or whatever.

no doubt about it. Ben is the very best at getting out of being sacked in the entire league.
No one can do what he can do when avoiding a rush. He’s sick. He’s bigger than the defensive guys. I wonder how much he weighs. I watched him swat our players off like little flies. Although you gotta admit that DJ’s riding the offensive guy and lassoing Ben to the ground was pretty cool to watch in slow mo!
This is how I rank current QBs
1. Peyton Manning
2. Drew Brees
3. Tom Brady
4. Brett Farve
5. Ben Rothlesburger
6. Aaron Rodgers
7. Phillip Rivers
8. Carson Palmer
9. Matt Schaub
10. Kurt Warner
16. Matt Cassel
33. Jamarcus the Hut
* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season
* Stats are for losers
Great list but....
I would put Rivers ahead of Big Ben and Aaron Rodgers by a long shot. I also think Kurt Warner should be much higher on that list if for nothing else, just out of respect for the outstanding career he has had.
no question that rivers is a better QB than either of those two. Not taking anything from them
they each have their unique gifts they bring to to the table. But Rivers is a rare quality QB. He is so underrated.
Hell I'm just glad I'm not a Raiders, Browns, Lions or Buccaneers fan!
Yeah, let's just keep matriculatin' the ball down the field, boys! ...
