Chiefs G Brian Waters is Doubtful for Browns

A few minutes after I write that Kansas City Chiefs G Brian Waters could have been limited in practice today for precautionary reasons, the practice report comes out.

And, of course, he's listed as doubtful, which means he has a 25% chance of playing.

Chiefs head coach Todd Haley hasn't completely ruled Waters out, though.

"I haven’t given up hope that Brian can’t go," Haley said. "We’ll have to just see. We have a couple of different plans ready to go and we’ll see how Brian comes along here in the next day-and-a-half."

Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com is reporting:

G Andy Alleman received some work at left guard over the course of the week, while Ikechuku Ndukwe could also be in the mix should Waters be out of action. Another option would be to move Wade Smith from right guard to left guard and start Alleman on the right side. Alleman had previously filled in for Mike Goff (now on injured reserve) at right guard.

Busy day at work. I'll be back soon.

That sucks.

Doesn’t CLE have a big ‘ol beast of a DT? Can’t remember his name.

On the bright side, this could potentially cut two holding penalties from Sunday’s game.

My sentiments are likely to be summed up with one of these 2 quotes:

"Shut the f--- up."
-Matt Cassel

"WHAT THE F---?!?!"
-Todd Haley

Seems like Ndukwe has dissappeared

since being relieved from RT duties. It’s worth nothing he played LG with the Redskins (at least he was listed on depth charts I’ve reviewed). He seems to be Wade Smith Jr. with his versatility on the line, the problem with these type of linemen is they never find a true position. A lot of comments I’ve read from fans here give the impression Alleman has a brighter future than Ndukwe, which surprises me because what little I saw from the two earlier in the season Ndukwe seemed to be better

I agree.

Ndukwe should be our RG IMO.

I'd like to see them both on the field this week

considering we know what to expect from Wade Smith

Start Alleman at LG, Ndukwe at RG…. maybe Ndukwe will impress enough to keep that job!

* "I doubt anyone will miss Connor Barth except UCrawford"
* the LB corps may become the biggest strength of the Chiefs in 2009
* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season
* Stats are for losers

How about this

Alleman at LG, Smith at C, Ndukwe at RG.

I doubt it happens since Haley seems to like Niswanger but I wouldn’t mind seeing how they do.

Pretty scary.

I agree though. Smith is bound to be better than Rudy.

Ya know...

This sucks because as beswaf has pointed out in his posts, the offensive line has had a little continuity in the last few weeks and seems to have been gelling….

Let's see if they continue building on what they started.

I think they have more big men who know what they’re trying to do and how to do it. They have more confidence that Charles will capitalize on anything they give him. They might just have something more potent at WR than we’ve seen all year.

Another week of anticipation and optimism. Here’s to hoping it doesn’t end in disappointment.

Prediction for '09: Chiefs are looking like a .500 team, especially considering Denver's inattention to D-Line, Chokeland's disarray, and a San Diego team that looks like it's on the decline. With a weak schedule, Chiefs steal a few and win between 7 and 9 games, and if .500 or better, will contend for supremacy in a weak division.

If that isn’t a synopsis of our year… I don’t know what is…. minus the optimism on my part… but hell at least I look forward to wondering who the hell they’ll put on the field this week.

You know what though Joel

this kid Alleman, although he will never be a hall of famer for sure, is a great addition. It’s super to have someone who can fill in on a moment’s notice like him. I like that. He needs to stay.
