Around SBN: Tottenham's Plans for Northumberland Stadium Approved

Bob Gretz is asking for your input on the game of the decade. He's followed the Chiefs as close as anyone in the last decade so I'm really interested to see what he comes up with.

Hop over to BobGretz.com and put your vote in the comments section. I'm going with Kansas City beats Denver on Thanksgiving 2006.

when did they go to baltimore and beat down ray lewis and the ravens while lewis was mic'd up?

The only players I hurt with my words are the ones who have an inflated opinion of their ability. I can't worry about that.

was at that thanksgiving game

while there may have been better/more important games, that thanksgiving game was certainly the best one i’ve ever been to. apparently stuffing yourself all day then going out to a t-shirt weather football game against the broncos is a recipe for an incredible atmosphere.

I watched that game from a casino

in Lake Charles, LA. It was awesome.

Best game ever

…..because of lack of great moments in the 2000’s i can’t choose one because all the moments were from the 90’s

kc/gb- where we scored 19 or something in the 4th
kc/denver- i think it might have been OT and dante ran it back at arrowhead

by cassel4prez on Dec 17, 2009 8:19 PM CST reply actions

Either the GB game in '04 with Kennison's TD in overtime or the Donkey game in '05

Both the Chiefs and Donkey’s were undefeated and D. Hall had that ridiculous punt return for a TD. I’ll never forget either. Absolutely awesome.

I hate to say it but...

There were sooo many illegal blocks in the back on that kick return. You couldn’t even count them all. I can’t believe there were no flags called. I guess the refs were so stunned watching the X Factor that they were blinded to all the penalties.

Here's my personal story....

In 2006 I was a kid from northern Canada going to college in North Dakota. I knew nothing about the NFL, and couldn’t really care less about it. My girlfriend lived in Kansas City, and I ended up coming down for Thanksgiving to visit her. My girlfriend’s dad (now my father in law) offered to take me to see a football game – the primetime Thanksgiving game against Denver. At the time I had no idea that a Thanksgiving game, especially a primetime Thanksgiving game, was a pretty big deal.

We got to the parking lot around 4:30 that afternoon, and I just hung out with my father-in-law’s family. We ate barbecue and chatted while my father-in-law spent almost two hours roaming around the parking lot, trying to track down a ticket to buy. Finally, about 20 minutes before the game started, he managed to get some tickets (he wouldn’t tell us how much he paid, but I’m sure it must have been a ton).

The game was phenomenal, an absolute blast – Arrowhead was packed and absolutely rocking. The half-time show was awesome – they had the lead guy from CCR, one of my favorite bands (that was the year they flew him around the country to do the half-time shows for all of the Thanksgiving games). I remember walking out of the stadium, cheering with everyone else after an awesome game of football.

So yeah – one game of football changed me from someone who couldn’t care less about the NFL to a dedicated, rabid Chiefs fan. I wish I’d known more about the game before I went – I was a little lost for most of the game, to be honest. But after seeing how amazing the game was live, it inspired me to become a fan and learn more – so for me it’s not just the game of this decade, but the game of my lifetime.

best KC loss

was the Colts-Chiefs playoff game 5 or so years ago that had only one punt. It hurt real bad, but that’s further proof of how good a game it was.

by 1kmilesfromkc on Dec 18, 2009 6:19 AM CST reply actions

I'm with you on that one

Didn’t want to post a loss, but that game was flat out insane – one of the most electrifying playoff games I’ve watched in a looooong time.

by Ochophosphate on Dec 18, 2009 1:00 PM CST up reply actions

chiefsfan1970 was right

no punts.

I was super pissed because not only did the Chiefs lose, but I missed the game and had to listen to it on the radio after visiting a girlfriend’s parents out of town for the first time. Should have seen this as a bad omen for that relationship.

by 1kmilesfromkc on Dec 18, 2009 7:43 PM CST up reply actions

I though there were ZERO punts in that game. Am I wrong?

I agree. That was probably the one of the best games I have ever seen. That was OUR year!

There was a terrible holding call on Gonzo that called back a TD so, we had to kick a FG. That TD would have made the difference and we would have won. We had homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. NE wouldn’t have had a chance against us at home.

Fucking Zebras!

To me, the best game was the 45-17

beatdown of the Donkeys at Arrowhead in 2004. Any time the Chiefs totally hammer the Donkeys it is a good game. I am hoping to see many more beatdowns of the Donkeys in the future. I guess it probably shows that I hate the Donkey Dicks………………….

One of the most brutal blowouts....

When Atlanta came to Arrowhead (’03 I think) and there was all this talk of Mike Vick and how much trouble we would have containing him…

We ended up obliterating them – with EIGHT rushing TD’s.

4 by Derrick Blaylock

I always wonder why they didn’t let Priest run for 6.

by Ochophosphate on Dec 18, 2009 1:05 PM CST reply actions

I loved how much shit talking the Falcon's fans were doing while tailgating prior to the game

about how Vick is going to run all over us.

Also, if I remember correctly, Atlanta was coming in to the game with the #1 rush defense in the NFL.
