Chiefs WR Bowe Back to the First Team; Dorsey Appears to be Okay
The Kansas City Chiefs returned to the practice field this afternoon in preparation for the final home game of the season (Keep the streak alive!) against the Cleveland Browns.
A few big notes from practice today.
Bowe is back
Bowe is back to the practice field and back to the first team specifically. He received first team reps and, per Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com, didn't look like he had lost a step.
Bowe's transition back to the team will continue this week. If all goes well, which we think it will, he should be on the field on Sunday.
Dorsey appears to be fine; Waters, too
Chiefs DE Glenn Dorsey appears to be healthy after suffering a knee injury in last Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills.
I saw him in the locker room after the game with a brace on his knee (not the same injury he had in college). He was back on the practice field so it appears all is well.
Brian Waters also suffered an injury in last Sunday's game. Looney also reports he was back on the field practicing. He was off to the side in agility drills, though.

I think the next 3 weeks are KEY
What do we have in Cassel + Bowe + Chambers + Charles + Pope?
If this combo can prove to be effective, score some points and move the ball, there will be alot less questions in the offseason and holes to fill.

agreed
I think that Bowe being out really hurt the offense and Cassel.
But, they have to play well in order to prove that theory correct.
I think Bowe makes 3-4 great plays per game, if those plays come at the right time, they lead to wins.
I think Pope is playing pretty decent, as well

Brain Waters
Glad to hear Waters is ok. He just keeps on ticking. We need al least another year out of him. He and Haley seem to have come to terms…

Anyone That Questioned Waters in the Off-Season
SHAME ON YOU
I saw the posts that Waters needs to STFU and play etc ….here is he’s hurt, his team is 3-10, and the guy just keeps battling. You have to respect Brian Waters. Personally I think he could move to center in the off-season and give us a couple to three more years and be the general of the line.

+1
So you think you are so important that no one can replace you? Put your finger in a bucket of water and pull it out. Does it leave a hole? Nope, just some ripples that eventually calm themselves!

I’ll be there for this reason

yep! even though he was asked to tone down his Bowe Show attitude, he's still exciting.
Hopefully it will help with ticket sales and keep the sellout streak alive. :]
Bring the Bowe Show back
we want somebody to show some confidence besides JC……..even it’s annoying to some it is definitely a morale booster for the team.

when the team wins, and he's a pro bowler
then, he can bring the show back
until then, I hope he stays humble and gets better

I agree with this. I rather have the team winning first before anyone begins busting out glam for themselves...
Maybe the lack of confidence
is contributing to our losing to begin with. Nobody is mad at JC for busting out glam, because he is doing it. And he’s becoming the cornerstone of this offense too…..

I guess we are looking at it differently.
If Bengals were horribly losing, I would say OchoCinco isn’t focused on whats important—-getting out of the sh*thole the team is in. Instead of putting extra effort into finding out what dance to do next in his celebration, that effort could be entirely focused in constantly improving himself to help the team.
Don’t get me wrong though, I enjoy OchoCinco and his antics as long as the team is winning and happy. It’s entertaining. But when the team as a whole is losing it doesn’t look like good form to be celebrating individually for your own self and image.
We might be on the same
page fundamentally, I think our view on the words I chose is just different. I will elaborate.
I want some players on our team to change the mentality overall. The antics Ochocinco will pull on any given Sunday are fun to watch indeed…….as long as he’s pulling them on another team. I don’t want that stuff goin down in this organization because that is distraction.
What I do want is for a few of our players to quit being so polite, man the hell up, make a good play, and show people they aren’t sittin back and taking this anymore. I want the D Bowe show to be great catches and stare downs like “Look, I’m gonna own you today. I’m a good receiver and you are in my house. I just made a good play, and I’m about to make another one on your sorry ass because this is Arrowhead bitch and I’m not havin it up in here”
Silly dances, props, and media hype…….no. Moxie, execution, and the ability to make the opponent second guess why they are in the league……hell yes.

You don't want him to get out of hand, but
I feel like our players need to get more confidence and attitude so they can win more and they can get to the pro bowl. The morale of this team and this fanbase is way down…….so I am willing to forgive an act or two of swagger to change this terrible momentum.
Example: Pope diving into the endzone during the Steelers game. Humble player extremely overjoyed and showing some emotion. Fans and players alike getting fired the hell up and yelling and playing harder. That’s what the game is about, used at appropriate moments of course.

I like Bowe's swagger. The Chiefs offense could use some of that.
Just don’t get all Ochocinco on us.

Exactly
Swagger (pride and confidence) is what this team could use more of right now. There is a happy medium and if a couple of players have it in moderation, it can positively affect the whole team…..

After the off-season, I had questions about Waters but not any more.
I mentioned this before but, I think the @ Oakland game he’s the one that hussled all the way down field and recovered that fumble that was bouncing all over and it was a long ways down field, not where you’d expect your 30+ guard to be and then the other play was on a KC fumble, early in the year and the visual that I recall was Waters launching himself and knocking the other player out of bounce, and it was quite a ways down field too. he just does not give up on certain plays.
and
the block that sprung Charles’ 76 yd run… I swear he piled up 3 defenders, and sealed them off.
Charles should buy him a watch for that one

Yeah agreed.
I kind of feel bad how Haley and Pioli treated him in the offseason. He still performs and tries like the professional people say he is.
Still no proof that all of that happened by the way...
Unless you count Whitlock’s articles as good research. Some do, and that’s fine. I don’t, and that’s fine for me. Outside of Waters hiring an agent for the first time, there’s been no other outside evidence proving that tale.

Haley has made it a point to bring up Waters every time he is talking about bright spots.
That story is waters under the bridge….Get it?…Nevermind.

He's still a beast. Love BW.

Man
you should check out the Philly game when one of there LB’s was mic’d up Waters straight up layed his ass on the grab about 4 times….good stuff
Great players dont win championships.....Great TEAMS win championships
This entire team has got to play for one another, like their lives depend on it.
As an example,
last night on ESPN2 was a feature on Raiders vs Patriots, snow bowl the tuck rule etc. In the second half the Patriots are receiving the kickoff after a Raiders score. The return guy (don’t remeber who) is into a good return as he is getting hit he is spinning fighting for yards, and out comes the ball (sound familiar). The Patriots were, as it seemed, fortunate that THREE of them were right there to recover. Now here is the interesting part. This feature cuts to an interview with Larry Izzo (OLB that season) and he says recovering that fumble was “ANTICIPATED” because they were so tuned into each other as players that guys knew to follow that paticular return guy on all kicks because of a history of fumbling. And Izzo said he just had a gut feeling to really stick with that play.
KC has got to get that tuned in feeling.
