Chiefs Now 5,500 Tickets Short of a Sellout

And the road just got a little tougher. At this time last week, the Kansas City Chiefs were approximately 3,500 tickets away from a sellout. The deadline is Thursday at 12:00 PM (CST) and the Chiefs needed a 24-hour extension to get it done.
Today, the Chiefs are 5,500 tickets away from a sellout.
Just like last week, the Chiefs will have until Thursday at noon to sell all the non-premium tickets necessary for the league to call it a sellout.
However, I'm not so sure the Chiefs will get an extension this time. The league generally grants an extension only if selling the game out is likely.
If you can afford it, then help keep the streak alive.

If the Chiefs don't sellout, then the game will not be televised for the first time since December 16th, 1990.

Question
Okay, as I mentioned earlier this week, I am visiting my Sis in Overland Park for vacation. I also am going to the game — she said that she was able to get some great tickets 10 rows up from the field, near mid-field — yeah, big surprise, huh…
Okay, so my brother is also coming to the game with me. He’s a Donkeys fan — yeah, brings new meaning to the term black sheep…
Anyway, he has a flight back to Denver leaving at 4:35 on Sunday afternoon. I told him that he’s crazy — football games usually run more than 3 hours and that he’ll probably have to leave the game at halftime or he’ll miss his flight. He thinks he’ll be able to stay for the whole game and still make his flight no problem…
Does anyone think he can stay for the whole game?
Not a chance. Arrowhead to the airport is at least a 30 minute drive
plus the hour minimum you need to allow yourself to check in and get through security… probably have to leave after halftime, but if leaving with the rest of the crowd, I’d say it’ll take that much longer.
If you only knew...
Did it a few times in 2006.
That sounds tight for time. If he’s getting dropped at the gate that’s much better than turning in a rental. At KC you don’t really need too much time to get through security. If you print your boarding pass online that morning and don’t check a bag it goes pretty fast.
Getting out of the lot is the big question mark. Not too much traffic on 435N once you get on it.

I doubt the entire game, but the majority of it.
I went to the game against the bills, we tried parking in the grass area on the west side of the stadium and although its a longer walk I highly recommend it so you can get out of traffic quicker….I got stuck in the back for over an hour one time parking by the offices.
Ha-ha
He’s on his own! I told him that there’s no way in hell I’m leaving early. I love my brother, but I haven’t been to a Chiefs game in 30 years. No way I’m getting into that one. I told him that I’d help him out with cab fare if he needed it…
To top it all off, he’s planning on wearing his Donks coat to the game. I’m sure that will go over really well for him — NOT!!! I think that’s going to make it harder for him to get anywhere… ;)
If blacked out
Does anyone know of a bar in Wichita that may carry the game or if there is somewhere online to watch it? I’ve never experienced this blackout BS before, pretty much sucks.
Thanks Saint
So if you’re outside of the 75 mile radius and the game is scheduled to be televised in your region, then you will get it??
hahaha!
I’m 113 miles. That means I’ll get it?

This game deserves to be blacked out
After the way they played after they had to beg for ticket sales last week.
I love my Chiefs but they don’t deserve to continue this sellout streak. The last 3 years have been atrocious. If they want to keep selling tickets, they need to put a better product on the field. Let the organization miss profits from this game. It’ll light a fire under their ass to get cracking this off season.

Ok. Now remember that the back up QB is ALWAYS the most popular guy in town when a team is this bad. Matt will bounce back. He had one of the best TD to INT ratios for the first several weeks of the season. Chill out people.

Chiefs fans have been very supportive...
maybe too much so. i think it will be sad to see the streak end, but maybe the fans need to bench this team to send a message.
Does anyone know
If kctv 5 has bought there share or if there waiting longer this week
They have not purchased their allotment yet

I'm hearing
that if they use all the same tactics as last week, they’ll still fall around 1500 short.

ight thanks
i wonder if they will buck up that extra 1500……..i can understand why they didnt do it last week bcuz then they knew they would have to do it again this week but i wonder if they will pay a little more this week bcuz they know its the last game…….not counting our playoff games
I'm sure they've done the math
They know what number they can afford to buy and still turn a profit. Whatever that number is (somewhere in the 2000 range) they did it last week and they’ll do it again this week.
The Chiefs can choose to buyout the Browns cut of gate receipts. This would end the sellout streak, but the blackout could then be lifted.

I like it and hope the pony up the $
I’m on record. I care zero about the streak. But, I think having the game on TV in KC is important in this community.

yeah I don't get that...
if they know they’re not going to sell those tickets why not offer them for a really low price… might as well get SOMETHING for them… but no…. they gotta have 80 bucks a seat or nothing….
hope they get blacked out
not in a mean way- just that the streak really isn’t a streak when your sellout has 30k fans…
Either change the rule or let the games go off air. I will be there again with the 20k other fans or whomever they gave their tickets to.
Sad to say~ but the streak~
WILL END~ 100% sure of it~ how?
2 LOWER LEVEL TICKETS, 1st ROW behind the chiefs, on the 50 yard line
