Thursday Night Football Open Thread: Steelers at Browns
We are already half way through the first quarter and the teams are trading punts. The Steelers (6-6) travel to a cold Browns (1-11) stadium for a must win. The wind chill is suppose to get into the negative teens there. This will be a huge game for the Browns if they get the win which is possible since the Steelers are on a downward spiral. The best play thus far was a pass to Browns TE Miller for a one handed bobbled catch for over 20 yards. The game is once again shown on NFL Network. Go Chiefs! Who cares!

These are not the same Steelers we faced
There are a lot of guys out on injury right now. But Quinn has been playing like a genuine NFL QB the last two or three weeks. They could give us a run. But they’d better not.

Man the Browns may beat us. Thats not good.
We better beat the Bills.
When you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail.
We better beat them both
What sucks is that the Broncos, Bills and Browns face us after a Thursday night game so they get extra prep time. If we don’t win the next two, I’m blaming Goodell for screwing us in the scheduling.

I don't see that facing the NFC East like that was really a problem
We had to face them all, just like the rest of our division. It’s just a matter of how they’re playing when we got them. I think we got the Cowboys and Skins at their worst, Giants at their best, and we did get the Eagles without McNabb.

The Browns have a good D
its been the offense that’s been stinking it up for them. Very similar to the Raiders.
If the Raiders had played Gradkowski the whole game vs us we would have lost. Now we’ll be getting the Browns at the wrong time. Browns might actually better be a slightly better team than us. They sure are playing better as of late

"Gonna gallop all over the Chiefs. Cleat prints on the chests. Mud in the face masks." - 2.7* *Yes I know it was changed to 2.9 but f*ck the statisticians.
I disagree - I don't want to pick in the top ten
I think it’s insane to give guaranteed money to a guy who hasn’t played a down in the NFL. That’s why it’s hard to get anyone to trade into the top ten. It’s damn near impossible to get anyone to go for the top five.
-"A man may be a fool and not know it, but not if he is married." - H.L. Mencken
Has Harrison been mentioned lately?
For a guy that was Defensive Player of the Year he’s been pretty quiet this year. I wondered if he was going to be another guy who disappeared after getting a big contract. So far it looks like it unless he’s got an injury or something.
-"A man may be a fool and not know it, but not if he is married." - H.L. Mencken

That's the ball game
Steelers only have one time out.

Looks like the Browns are all rush tonight.
Stack the box and make Quinn beat us? We’re used to that (Raiders), so maybe we’ve got a shot?

Quinn struggled most of the season
But he’s really come on the last three weeks. He looks like he may be a legit QB. Cribbs is still their biggest weapon by far. The guy is amazing.

Agreed on Cribbs.
Can’t believe he was on the block earlier.

He was on the block...
But would have taken a haul to land him. The guy damn near makes league minimum so that increases what you have to give for him.

Wasted that 2nd Timout
Should have had 2 calls played on 3rd down.

Good for the Browns
I love the Steelers Browns rivalry. Good to see it back.

Agreed
I always wanted to go to a Browns Steelers game. After I moved here I got the chance when a friend got some tickets. We had seats in the SECOND ROW, right at the goal line near the Dawg Pound. It was the Dec 24. It was the worst game I’ve ever seen. Browns got in the Steelers Red Zone once the entire game. They proceeded to lose yards to the 50 in the next two plays and failed to score. The Browns fans were so pissed they were booing the carolers and Santa at the half. Ugly game.

We didn't play the Rams, Lions and Bucs!

I'd venture to say that we've beaten ourselves several times this year! =)

Ahahahaha
Can’t wait to rub this in a friends face tomorrow, jackass wore his Big Ben jersey the Friday before WE beat the Stillers, guessing that jersey is going in the closet.
Not that I want the Browns to be doing better, cause they’re toast come Arrowhead, but man I do like seeing them beat Pitt.
Mentally, what kind of effect do you think this will have on the Chiefs?
seeing the “other shitty teams” beating Pittsburgh…every week, our win against them looks less and less impressive.
My long, drawn-out predictions that no one cares about, nor will bother to remember:
1. Todd Haley will still be the Chiefs Head Coach up to the 2011 season.
2. Clancy Pendergast won't make it to the 2010 season and was never intended to. Last-minute hire for a position that needed to be filled.
3. Todd Haley will not be the OC at the start of the 2010 season.
I don't think it counts for much
The NFL is still a “any given week” league. And this Steelers team is not the one they faced.
I think if the anything is bugging this team it’s how they’ve played the last two games.
-"A man may be a fool and not know it, but not if he is married." - H.L. Mencken
none whatsoever
we were still fortunate to get that win vs Pitt … and any win we get this yea … and if they don’’t focus on the next game it will be another in the L column
Marty had the right idea: one play at a time

This win means Mangini just got another year
It wasn’t clear he’d get one before this game.

Just goes to show you
what happens when you play inspired football. Please inspire the team coach haley.
Go Todd Haley!
and all this time I thought these guys were making millions of dollars to find self-inspiration

I think Craig was talking about that up above.

Whatever works
I’ve used that myself. More last year than this.

I have a chiefs sweat shirt
that cannot leave the closet within 2 weeks of the start of training camp. I got it in 2007.
Go Todd Haley!
I've got lots of Chiefs stuff but two favorites
One is my coaster set made from the last Arrowhead Astroturf. I have a hideous Chiefs tie that my wife found in a bargain bin in NC for 99 cents. It is the most gaudy tie I’ve ever seen, and I always wore it after a victory. I pretty much wore it our during the 90s.
