A new collegiate football award was presented on Tuesday. The award is presented by the Touchdown Club of Richmond and it goes to the small college player of the year in Virginia. That award is now affectionately known as "The Willie Lanier Award."
....
"This is not about me," Lanier told the Richmond Times-Dispatch. "It’s about a young person who’s observing and then recognizes that they might, through participating athletically, be able to achieve certain things through a college education that could be of long-term benefit."
