The Kansas City Chiefs have been granted a 24 hour extension to sell the remaining unsold tickets for Sunday's game against the Buffalo BillsJosh Looney of KCChiefs.com reports.

Traditionally the NFL grants extensions if the team is likely to sell the remaining tickets.

So, the waiting game begins again. This time the deadline is 12:00 PM (CST) on Friday.

If you're looking to buy tickets for the game, click here or call the Chiefs ticket office at (816) 920-9400 or through Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000.

hmm

I wonder if KCTV5’s strategy was to get some more people to buy tickets before they bought more. You can say you already helped so everyone isn’t sitting there thinking that you will buy the rest anyways. So now that it is possible to be sold it, KCTV5 saved some money by letting the public purchase the share they would have had to. And then they just purchase what is leftover now.

Or someone like Hyvee may have stepped up

Sponsors benefit from advertising during the huge rating share the game gets….

This is my signature line. It is full of awesome and win.

Bought mine. Section 120 row 10.

My buddy and I are deciding to head up there this weekend for the game from Tulsa. They always cut the viewing area off at the Oklahoma/Kansas border anyways. First game I’ve ever been to was the home game against Oakland this year. Hope it has a lot better outcome this sunday. GoChiefs!

Curious

If the blackout is a 75 mile radius, does that mean it will broadcast in Joplin? I know the distance is further, but the same state, same side of the state… If I had the money I’d be happy to attend just so I know I did my part, but Christmas has killed that idea.

If it doesn't get sold out,

a sports bar down here in Carthage is re-opening this weekend coincidentally named Arrowhead Sports Bar…It a cool place to eatch the games if you haven’t been. That’s where a lot of us Chiefs fans from here go to for games…I know that’s a 2 hour drive from KC, but check it out sometime…we always have fun in there!

Is the name really a coincidence?

November 22nd 2009: Chiefs win in OT vs the Steelers 27-24. This could be the turning point for the Chiefs to get back to being respected.

Cool!

Didn’t know it was re-opening…Ill have to stop by there soon.

This one will probably not be blacked out....

…This is my guess. They are obviously close to selling out or there wouldn’t be an extension.

The real danger is the Cleveland game. The Cini game may draw a crowd since its Larry Johnson’s return to KC — but only if we start winning some games and fast.

Why don't they lower prices for these games?

I understand those who paid full price would be a little miffed, but that’s life.

Really, they should auction remaining tickets a few days prior to the game if it’s not sold out. I’m sure there are lots of fans who’d be happy to go to games like this, but can’t/don’t want to spend face value on December games against Buffalo & Cleveland. Plus, it’s depressing to see all those empty seats on gameday.

Predictions:

Kansas City will not win more than four games in 2009
Kansas City will have a new OC and DC in 2010
Kansas City will win at least seven games in 2010

by jmcgoblue on Dec 10, 2009 12:31 PM CST reply actions

they should

I don’t want to pay $194 for two tickets before tax and parking….

by Jayhawk2k3 on Dec 10, 2009 12:38 PM CST up reply actions

I paid $75 total for two lower level seats

Then again my dad is also retired military, therefore we get in on that awesome discount for the games. Might even get tickets to the Browns game if it’s blacked out.

by TheSmokingPun on Dec 10, 2009 12:50 PM CST up reply actions

Hey same here $50 for sec. 120

I bought mine off stubhub though. I went on there and there is still a lot of tickets for very reasonable prices. But if you by them from stubhub or ticket retailer’s like that would it still go towards the 3500 tickets needed to be sold to prevent the blackout?

by chiefs_fan05 on Dec 10, 2009 2:37 PM CST up reply actions

I dont think so...

because techniacally those tickets have already been sold to someone besides the chiefs. am I right?

by tomahawk44 on Dec 10, 2009 2:41 PM CST up reply actions

I take that back

just checked ebay & auctions for pairs of lower level seats are expiring with 0 bids at $25 (per pair). OUCH

Would love to buy a couple of tic's and go...

but been on furlough since September. Add in Christmas and a couple of teenage kids and there is no chance this year!

So you think you are so important that no one can replace you? Put your finger in a bucket of water and pull it out. Does it leave a hole? Nope, just some ripples that eventually calm themselves!

106 row 30...

but I’m a season ticket holder that lives in Springfield- so I see the game if I go or stay home.

Well

I knew this would become an issue if Cassel stayed at the helm. However just to make things worse Cassel said geeting enough fans to buy tickets was the least of his worries. Well if your an NFL QB and you don’t care if fans want to wattch the team play something is definatly wrong. Expecially since his bad play and lack of trust the fans have in him as our QB is the main reason for the lack of ticket sells. Something has got to change or this will become a normal thing of no Chiefs on TV and empty seats at the stadium.
There are alot of holes on the team but the one that matters most to the apperance of the team is our QB. Cassel is not that exciting to watch, most of the time on SUNDAYS he looks like a highschool QB who is in over his head. That combination in a team leader is going to lose fans. Things must change and if Haley and Pioli want to ignore thier problems it looks like we will just have to ignore the Chiefs because we won’t be watching them.
I love the Chiefs and always will but I will, but I cannot support a front office that is ignorant to its problems!

by kcchiefstd on Dec 10, 2009 1:22 PM CST reply actions

it is the least of his worries...

they have a PR department, he has to worry about becoming a better QB and helping make the offense better which should happen with time and more players…So in my opinion, this is getting pretty nitpicky

by SDChief on Dec 10, 2009 1:25 PM CST up reply actions

Are we really turning this whole thing onto one player?

Bad economy+ Bad TEAM+Another Bad team= low attendance
I mean come on lets not make a blackout into ANOTHER discussion about how good or bad Cassel is.

and the fans will come. right.

Cassel is not the problem...

You cannot pin this solely on Cassel…I mean he is no Tom Brady but the stats show we lead the league in dropped passes and those are passes that have hit players in the hands, is that not where he is supposed to throw the ball?

We get a NEW GM, a NEW coach, and a NEW QB and give up on them after 1 year? I think the lack of ticket sales is that we are used to at least a competitive team and we have tried to “rebuild” this team since Vermeil left.

Cassel is throwing to a different set of receivers every week and the only decent receiver who has been here more than a few weeks is missing a quarter of the season…

And I am sure Mike Brown letting 3 50+ TD plays a game get by him is just causing the fans to pour in as well. This is a problem with the team, not with just one player. I doubt Tom Brady would be “Tom Brady” behind a line that couldn’t block a 5th grader and receivers who couldn’t catch a ball if it was handed to them.

Go Chiefs!

Almost every Chief has had a bad game this year.

The one who has had the least amount of good games is Cassel and most bad games is Cassel not even Niswanger has had as many bad games as Cassel and that really is an ugly thing.

You don't...

even make sense half the time. I can’t wait when Cassel proves you haters wrong.

Donated my tickets to charity

Will be at the Browns game. Getting back into the country just in time for the final home game of the season. Will be looking for someone to tailgate with, anyone that still thinks I am 2.7 2.9…..Ask me to tailgate with you and I will bring beer and meat. Larry will be in San Diego so I think I can prove I am not Larry….

Predictions for 2009:

The Chiefs will regret cutting LJ

Bowe's numbers regress due to lack of decent QB play.

The D gets better in the second half but still is plagued by big plays

Cassel looks more like the guy Pioli almost cut in the '08 preseason instead of the franchise QB he hoped he would be when he traded him for

Chiefs 3-13

Doesn't matter for me, I live in Cowgirl territory.

No chance of seeing so much as a highlight here.
And I refuse to subscribe to anything that contributes to Jerry Jones pet NFL network.
I can only stream radio coverage.
But hey, there is something nostalgic about that.
I remember in 1969 at age 11, me and my buddies were out playing basketball. One of the guys had a transistor radio and we listened to the AFL Championship game against the Raiders while we played. We pretty much stopped playing once the fourth quarter rolled around and just listened, with fingers crossed.

It looks like we're a go for sellout

Just got word that the Chiefs are offering the last of the tickets to Red Coaters at…well….lets just say….a very very significant discount. lol. Have fun watching the game guys. It’s prolly the last televised home game of the year. They’re nowhere close for Cleveland.

This is my signature line. It is full of awesome and win.

We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09. Almost there :)
And Succop will be the Key in two of them. Skins & Raiders! Pittsburgh Sweet!
