December 2009 Scott Pioli Approval Poll

Props to soybon for the image. Been a while since we used this one, hasn't it?

Can you believe we're nearing a year of approval polls? We started way back in February with the new regime and haven't looked back since.

Last month, Scott Pioil's approval rating only hit 67%, the lowest in our ten months of polling. His high is still in August 2009 - 91%.

You know the drill for this month - vote in the poll. It's that easy!

But first, here are the stories Scott Pioli has been involved in over the past month:

Make sure you vote in the poll. Let us know your thoughts and how you voted in the comments.

The previous months results are after the jump.

With 2 wins since the last poll I think his numbers will be up

I voted approve every month. It’s so nice to have a GM who doesn’t stand pat once the last cut date has passed. Since the start of the season our O line personnel has improved and our Receiving corp has been greatly improved. I look forward to seeing what he does this off-season now that he has his scouts in place.

This is the first time I've voted "Not sure" if I remember correctly...

I think some things could have been done differently, but looking back and seeing what it takes to build a complete team, I think it’s going the right way, so I approve.

The big thing everyone talks about is his neglect of the O-line in lieu of the defense. Typically, it’s more difficult and takes longer to become a good-great defensive player (the offense knows where they’re going, you as a defender have to learn to react to them and know your assignment), so while the line may have been neglected, I think the foresight here is that the team will be more complete in the next two years with good defense in place with younger offensive talent that can come in and contribute right away.

Now will this work out? That’s a coin flip that every team must make. There’s always going to be booms and busts from top to bottom of an organization. I personally think that things are headed in the right direction.

If you only knew...

first time I’ve NOT voted “Not Sure”

Approve

OL has gotten better… even though Sackintosh and Goff never should have made it to training camp. O’Callaghan is an upgrade, and at the very least will make a good back up.

WR corps has improved. Grabbing Chambers was a no brainer, but you have to give credit where credit is due. Long has showed some promise as a slot guy.

Getting Cassel and Vrabel for a 2nd rounder was a trade I’d make every time.

The defense has improved. Their stats don’t show a lot of improvement, but IMO, I see a difference from last year. As the unit solidifies and gets more talent I’ll be expecting a top 15 defense within the next year or two.

Yeah, I approve of Pioli so far. This next off season will make or break him though. He got a bit of a pass coming in late and evaluating the mess that was the 2008 Chiefs. 2010 is a “must win” for him, both in the draft and free agency.

November 22nd 2009: Chiefs win in OT vs the Steelers 27-24. This could be the turning point for the Chiefs to get back to being respected.

I went not sure this time.

My entire attitude regarding the Chiefs has gone from being excited to more of a “wait and see”. It’s hard to know what to think when we beat the Steelers one week and get our asses handed to us the next. What makes it even more difficult is the fact that we matched up so much better against the Chargers last season. If you use the way we played against SD as the gauge then, this team seems to have digressed this season instead of improve. I’m not necessarily saying we haven’t improved but, I know this for sure. The Chargers have NEVER dominated us the way they did this year…NEVER!!! The thought of it makes me want to throw up.

I think it will be well into next season before we can really see what we have in the new regime. Hopefully, we will see some serious roster upgrades as well as getting some coaches in here who can help improve this team. If you want to look at just this year though, I would say that Pioli and Haley have failed miserably.

Well

Pioli hasn’t sat pat with players, he has churned the roster, bringing in some of his guys, and some of Haley’s guys, and brought in players from other teams.

We’ve taken a step forward in talent at some positions, and a step back at others, there’s still two very, very winnable games on the schedule, and two that are not outside the realm of possibility.

We could beat Denver at home, but we seem to regress against divisional opponents, if Cincy overlooks us like they did against Oakland, that game is winnable, Buffalo and Cleveland are also very winnable.

I have to give Pioli a thumbs up, we’re sitting at 3-8 and odds are we’re 5-11 at the seasons end. Talent acquisition, we haven’t arrived, but there’s definate hope, partially due to Pioli and his dumpster diving.

Anyone who cuts 2.7 after all the B.S.

is good in my book

Things I have learned from Arrowhead Pride...
1.) A turtle can win a WR spot in preseason
2.) Everybody loves Kool-Aid
3.) Ochocinco is now not the only player to be referred to by his # (2.7)
4.) Its okay to cry because Vermeil does
5.) You (still) play to win the game
And no matter what CHIEF fans are the greatest!

Not Sure

Things are starting to get better some good player moves as of late.
However the one consistant all year except for a couple qaurters has been the POOR to Terrible play of Matt Cassel something has to be done he is not the answer and Pioli needs to pull the plug. Give Croyle or Gutierez the rest of the season to see what they have got and plan for the future Cassel is not a TOP QB and needs to go.

So if Cassel isnt a "TOP" QB than

Who is? Farve, Brady, Brees, the Mannings? What do you want from the guy? Do you really think that Croyle is closer in talent and skill to the men mentioned above than Cassel? You and us need to worry about the O-line. I dont care who you put in the so called pocket, very few guys could take the whoppin’ Cassel has and take it in stride. Matt seems to have passion and (besides aginst the chargers) is smart. Not allot of overthrown balls and very few Int’s.

Gotta give it to Pioli/Haley for their handling of Larry Johnson

LJ needed to go, they finally made it happen. Jamal Charles looks more like a game changing runner each week. Gotta say I approve!
