Edwards's firing means that 11 NFL teams will change head coaches between the beginning of this season and start of next season. The Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders are the only clubs still looking for coaches."
The way the off-season and the 1st half of the regular season has progressed or not. Is it possible that Todd Haley is a caretaker Head Coach? Not because he will be fired, But that he will be the Offensive Coordinator/Asst Head Coach next year. The Chiefs bring in a more seasoned Head Coach that is more of the Defensive type. Is it possible?

There is no way anyone would take a demotion...
and then stay on. He is either the Chiefs head coach next year, or he is not with the team. So that means he will be the Chiefs head coach next year.

What did Haley get out of this year
Some HC experience and a probable “Jason Garrett” type gig after the other HC hangs it up.
Some outside the box thinking is all.

Not quite the same.
After he was fired as Head coach of the Chiefs he went to Tennessee as linebackers coach for 3-4 years. He then came back as DC.

Right
But… I would add that the situation with Cunningham was one time – perhaps the only one in NFL history – where it might have been possible for the HC to stay on as a coordinator in a new regime.
My opinion at the time was that Peterson completely blew that transition. It would have been a long shot at best, but if he had approached Gunther the right way, he might have been able to persuade him to stay. Instead, Gunther found out the same way the rest of us did: on TV. Like anybody would do in that situation, he punched a wall, and went to Tennessee. And then we watched Greg Robinson dismantle an outstanding defense.
I have always believed that if Peterson had handled it better, Vermeil could have made it to the Super Bowl again – possibly more than once.

Let's try the blame game, even though I think it doesn't apply
Pendergast gets demoted if not released. Who replaces Clancy?
What Offensive coordinator comes into this situation with Haley as HC?
What if Pioli decides to change HC’s?
Does Haley have a resume to say “I’m gone” if offered the OC job under
a Defensive minded HC.
Haley has a year of HC experience and a “wink nod” from Pioli.
The new HC has no say over the Offense just like Haley has little say over the 2009 Chiefs D.
Did anyone notice that Haley was with Cassel on the bench when the Jags were driving late in the game?

I'll play
Pendergast gets demoted if not released. Who replaces Clancy?
I don’t know if Pendergast will get released. He’ll probably get another year if for no other reason than continuities sake and the fact the offense under the head coach is doing even worse. But if he did, it would probaly someone we aren’t familiar with from the Parcells / Bellichick tree. I think the only reason Pendergast got the job was because he was available. I certainly haven’t seen much utilization of the talent we have on defense and there IS some talent there. Krummrie has to be gone.
What Offensive coordinator comes into this situation with Haley as HC?
Haley REALLY blew it by kicking Chan Gailey out the way he did. Aside from the obvious reasons, Haley lost his scapegoat. He could have blamed all the offensive problems on Gailey and instead of everyone being down on Haley, they would be calling for him to take over playcalling. Haley seizing control like he did makes him target #1 for the offense being so horrible. I don’t think any big name O.C. would want to come in with Haley already showing he wants absolute control of the offense. Our biggest hope is one of his lacky coaches could take over the bulk of the playcalling with Haley giving major input.
What if Pioli decides to change HC’s?
Pioli has to stick with Haley. If he fires his first head coaching pick in his first season, he instantly loses all credibility. His entire first season would be a false start starting all over again. He would have been better off keeping Herm Edwards one more year to build on what was already here than hire a guy for 1 season, fire him and start all over again the next year.
Does Haley have a resume to say "I’m gone" if offered the OC job under
a Defensive minded HC.
Are you saying Pioli hires a new head coach and Haley stays as the Offensive Coordinator? Hell no. That would never work and he would lose all credibility with the team.

No one's getting fired or demoted
As much as i think haley looks amateurish at best, a coaching carousel is never good for a team, especially one that just got gutted to lay a foundation for a specific vision.
As much as I hate the idea, we are todd haley’s training wheels, for better or for worse

Exactly
Although I am hardly a fan of Todd Haley – at least not yet – the Chiefs have to let this play out. It might be different if Haley hadn’t made wholesale changes to the roster in order to accomodate the scheme changes he wanted. But now that he has, a coaching change after this season would only make things worse.

Clancy can be replaced by Romeo Crennel.
If Haley gets demoted to OC and QB coach then they can bring in someone like Cowher or
Fisher (providing he gets canned) and say it was the plan all along to get a jump on installing the offense and getting the “right” players.
Note: I dont believe this is the case or would happen at all; Im just posting a possibility.
Joe
I will call for Haleys head if we cant beat the Raiders by a TD.
