Only 40,000 Show up to Watch Chiefs and Jags
Joel tweeted this out earlier but I wanted to mention it here to go with this picture. The attendance at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium today was 40,541.
The stadium's capacity for Jaguars games is 67,164.
Judging by that picture, I'm not surprised the game was blacked out in the Jacksonville area. Could you imagine a Chiefs game blackout? That would be the ultimate disappointment.
One positive take away is that it seems like our fans came out in droves to Jacksonville to watch the game. It seems like we've been traveling better as fans than I remember in the past.

I wouldn't call it the ultimate disappointment
I reserve that for Lin Elliott….or Christmas Day 71….or the Elvis Grbac Bowl…..
The only measure of true success in the NFL is the Vince Lombardi trophy. Anything less is a rationalization.

Apparently the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce had a big "Visit Jacksonville" campaign in KC over the last few weeks.
With the game, fair, and air show being the big draws over the weekend.

Yeah it is the biggest problem now
Bigger then the passrush. I heard there were many Chiefs fans at the game. Thank you.
(by the way 45.00 tickets were sold to the game)

Yeah
Its good to have fans that still support your team even when the team is struggling. If the Jaguars haven’t won three in a row and gotten more than a 2 minute spot on ESPN you can bet that game is going to be blacked out if its in Jacksonville.
If hip hop is dead, then it happened the day that Dilla died.

You would think people would go to watch MJD

You know...
if we have a few more seasons of garbage football Arrowhead will be empty too. People can only handle so much before they don’t want to spend their hard earned money on disappointment.

The Jags havent been playing junk football
They were a really good team just 2 years ago. Still didnt sell out every game. People spending all there money on tebow in those parts
Predictions for 2009:
LJ breaks Chiefs all time rushing record at home
Bowe's numbers regress due to lack of decent QB play.
The D gets better in the second half but still is plagued by big plays
Cassel looks more like the guy Pioli almost cut in the '08 preseason instead of the franchise QB he hoped he would be when he traded him for
Chiefs 6-10

And even though KC is a small market
compared to NY, Dallas, Chicago, etc. KC does have a large catchment area. As long as gas prices are reasonable people will drive the hundreds of miles to get there.
But watch out if gas were to go thru the roof for a long period of time.

They will draft Tebow just to make one attempt to sell out

its going to look very good next year when they finish the touch ups in the stadium and all the fans are staying home - with theese 2 jackoffs running it

Yeah...
There were quite a few chiefs fans in Washington too. I was pleased.

I was @ the game
and yeah they definitely should have closed/covered alot more seats to make the stadium look more packed.

I'd be fine with 9-7 or 10-6 and competiting for the divsion title
