Whats Makes Scott Pioli
what makes Scott Pioli so good is his negotiation skills and his scouting skills.
So I was looking over last years draft and this is what I came up with.
1st Round pick Tyson Jackson: Jackson is a versatile defender who can play inside or outside on the defensive line. He has outstanding size and a quick burst off the line. He’s strong at the point of attack and sheds blocks cleanly to make plays in the backfield. He has the quickness to beat the opposition off the edge or to dominate with his strength and technique. - Chris Steuber, Scout.com/ I know your thinking oh hey he's a bust but i think he will develop into a Richard Seymor.
3rd round pick Alex Megee Flashes good awareness and him and gilbery will be a good future for are defensive line.
4th Donald Washington I saw him in the preseason a little bit I saw some good speed but is way to raw of a prospect could take years.
5th Colin Brown IR
6th Quinton Lawrence Wow what can I say I love this kid his speed and quickness. Could develop into a deep threat.
7th Javarris Williams none
7th Ryan O'Connell None
7th Ryan Succop Are future Kicker and maybe is Rookie Pro Bowl material.
I am going to make up a list I would think Pioli would do.
Biggest Holes C,G,T,NT,SS,Pass Rusher,TE
1st Round Russell Okung OT Oklahoma State would fill a void at right tackle or Left tackle.
2nd Round Sergio Kindle Left Outside Linebacker Texas You put Tamba Hali in his right spot and you sign Carlos Dansby and keep Derrick and move Kindle to left side (Vrables in a contract year) thats a hell of a corps.
2nd Round Matt Tenant C Boston College probably needs to gain like 10 more pounds at 294. To Handle NFL lineman.
3rd Round Mitch Petrus Arkansas OG 6-4 315 pounds this line needs all the depth it can get. And he could compete for the job at RG.
4th Round Jeron Mastrud Kansas State TE 6-6 253 pounds perfect hands and athleticism. Cbssports compared him to Seahawks all pro tight end John Carlson.
5th Round Brian Jackson Oklahoma CB 6-1 202 good press corner I would promise you he would start opposite Brandon Flowers. Brian's a unbelievable underrated prospect.
5th Round Al Woods Nose Tackle LSU 6-4 327 pounds Fast mobile lineman like we need on this team because of all those teams who just run it up the middle against are defensive line.
5th Round Jordan Lake FS Baylor 6-1 210 maybe one of the best tackling safety's.
Undrafted Free Agents
Nick Stringer Kansas State OT
John Conner FB Kentucky
Clint Gresham Long Snapper TCU
Adrian Tracy DE/Outside Linebacker Murray State
Brian Simmons LG Oklahoma

thanks for the post 99
I still have some hopes for the 09 draft class… it’s too bad that there are so many “long term project” players instead of immediate contributors… but hopefully it pays off next year when the team may be more competitive.
I’m a draft addict myself, so I appreciate the complete mock including UDFAs!
I haven’t heard much about your 3rd and later picks… but IF they panned out as you predicted, it would sure fill a lot of needs!

like the udfa's
cant wait till the draft. this whole secondary needs to be scrapped except Flowers. We seem to be in a bigger hole than we started the year……

LOL......."that was horrible article"
You’ve got a good sense of humor man……that had me laughing hard. I’m okay with the thinking behind your mock, except I want us to address safety higher. Mike Brown was getting the business today, so let’s plug a solid coverage safety in this defense and taste the difference…..

I have one Problem with that mock draft....
Im even cool with O Kung @ 1, The 2nd pick though has to be Iupati or Norwood. I hate Kindle, Im sorry but he is overrated as hell. He doesnt ever drop into to coverage either. Norwood is a Vrabel Clone. He can cover the pass and the run, plus he is just as good at rushing the passer.
OHANA!

RD2 Brandon Spikes
RD2 Kris O’Dowd
RD3 Mardy Gilyard
RD4 Boo Robinson
RD5 Vladamir Ducasse

RD5 Chris Brown

That is pretty solid
However in the second instead of Spikes as an ILB, we need to get another edge rusher. Micah Johnson can be had later for a nice ILB.

exactly...
but other than that,… looks pretty decent to me

I can agree with that
I grabbed Spike their because of his leadership. If he’s there, we could go Von Miller at OLB, and grab Micah Johnson later.

I might take
Peek at TE instead of Hernandez
Jerry at G instead of Gilyard
I think the Chiefs are OK at WR for now… Bowe, Chambers, Long, Wade, Lawrence… I think they are solid enough.
If I were Pioli, I’d focus on S, C, OG, OT, LB, NT, TE, CB in the draft and FA… only take a WR if there’s a CLEAR upgrade (Breaston, Boldin, Jackson in FA, or Bryant, Benn in the draft)

I picked Gilyard for 2 specific reasons
He adds supreme speed, and he is a terrific KR and PR. He really reminds me of Desean Jackson

well, if that's the case
I wouldn’t complain if they got him :)
Get Jerry (or another top G) instead of Boo… who is undersized for a NT

Who I really want
is Golden Tate in the 2nd. But we can’t afford to draft a WR in the 2nd. The kid is gonna be nice in the NFL. He just reminds me of Boldin and Steve Smith (CAR) combined. I heard Pioli was checking him out at practice last week.

Yeah i can write a good article about a
terd sandwich, but it dont erase the fact that none of the draft picks have been hardly worth a selection. Before last game Jackson had 5 total tackles…wow! lets crown him the next best thing. Magee?? who?? oh yeah 3 total tackles (i think). I will stay optimistic, but how long do we wait and hope for the big time pay off…..bad buisness to have to hope your money turns good…

whats up buddy...
Iam sorry…i just get alittle ticked when i watch the highlights and continue to see Jackson on the wrong side of the line…he needs some speed and some attitude….ya know it? Hard to blame it on the “rookie” thing when you compare his numbers to Orakpo, E. Brown, or L. English all taken later in the draft….

he is doing his job
and looked much better yesterday

he did look better yesterday..
and the guys mentioned above are DE/ LB hybrids that “suppose” to fit a 3-4 defense. If you dont like that, then how about M. Williams rookie season, or J. Allen’s rookie season (9 sacks), J. Peppers???? remember he was 3rd overall….you dont draft a project there, he is the man.
by Sea of RED on Nov 9, 2009 1:02 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
jackson isn't a project
he’s doing his job. period.
Mario Williams did not have a good rookie season, and there wasn’t a hybrid guy that I would have wanted with that pick.
The only argument that holds water, IMO, is that they should have taken Monroe to attempt to solidify the OL.
But, again, I think Jackson was a good pick and is doing what he’s supposed to do

i agree..
Monroe next to Albert had to help our situation. And with a DE/LB heavy draft, we could have gotten another player later in the draft with the same numbers. I really hope he turns into a stud, but its all a gamble now…and with that much at stake, it shouldnt be a gamble
by Sea of RED on Nov 9, 2009 1:10 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
"gamble"
well, actually, jackson was a VERY conservative pick
YES OL was needed, but so was DL… and Jackson was a safe pick to be a solid NFL player, in a position of great need.
a gamble would have been Crabtree, or even Orakpo… who many questioned would be able to make the LB transition well.
