Another Big Day For An Enemy WR...
What is it going to stop these big plays that are killing us every game? No name to mediocre Wrs are looking like Pro Bowlers every game we play here are the guys that have beat us so far this year.
Week 3:
Desean Jackson: 6 receptions for 149 yards and a TD

Week 4:
Steve Smith: 11 catches for 134 yards and 2 TDs
Week 5:
Miles Austin: 10 receptions for 250 yards and 2 TDs

Week 7:
Vincent Jackson: 5 receptions for 142 yards and a TD
Week 9:
Mike-Sims Walker: 6 receptions for 147 yards and a TD
Mike Who? What is going wrong in the secondary? I for one thought we had a decent pass rush today (multiple holds that didnt get called) but the defense still gets beat my someone I have never even heard of. The teams "strongest" part of the D has looked horrible at times this year. What do we blame this on? We have a better pash rush than last year. Is it the change in defense? Injuries? Or lack of talent? We also seem to be having sophomore slumps by Carr and MoLeg. Im just curious to see what you guys think is making us get beat every week in the secondary...
Today def. made me join the Eric Berry bandwagon and Im all for anyone who wants to get in there and make some plays. Morgan didnt look too bad today but we need some more playmakers. I say the next player cut needs to be Mike Richardson he isnt doing any worse than MoLeg was throw him back in or see what Daniels can do Ive not seen Richardson make one play that made me think he deserved to be out there.

Agreed.
We definately need to shore up the secondary. With the exception of maybe Flowers (who I think might be a better #2 corner) we need an overhaul (although Carr has some talent, he might be better as a nickel corner).
If someone wanted to put in the work...
Id love to see how many of those yards and tds were either a result of a missed tackle or bad angle by Mike Brown.

to be fair
those guys aren’t really “no name” WRs… they are all having very good seasons and have become their teams’ #1 receivers
But, I do agree that the secondary HAS to figure out how to stop those big plays to the WR… and the Safety play is a HUGE part of that
I thought Morgan and Flowers played fairly well, but Brown had a bad game, along with Richardson

The passing game is killing us on both sides of the ball.
I did a post a couple weeks ago that said that winning in today’s NFL depends on the passing game more then anything else. We haven’t passed the ball very well (until the very end of games) and we are HORRIBLE in coverage. I think the passing game is starting to show signs of life but the secondary HAS to be addressed this off season. I think we need at least 4 new quality players in the secondary (2 corners and 2 safeties) and one of those four needs to be a big time play maker (Eric Berry?).

4?
that’d be tough to find…
I think they are 2 players, one being Berry, away from a pretty good secondary
Maybe Berry at FS, Morgan at SS?
draft a SS in the late rounds for depth?
I think there could be enough talent at CB, once they have the Safety help they need

Still perfectly inexcusable
we have to fill a hole at SS when it never one was before, and how much disrepair the secondary is now in when it was just a year ago our teams strongest suit. I realize how bad we were and that my standard of ‘good’ is effected because of that, but we werent this bad. Page AND Pollard were not great but nonetheless a respectable duo that played well together. This revolving rotations at safety is ‘retarted’. Grubble grubble grubble

Don't kid yourself.
Pollard couldn’t cover worth beans. This isn’t to say Brown is the answer, but the KC secondary had a lot of questions in the offseason that most of us weren’t even asking.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
I LOL'd when you said "Mike who?"
I know he is OK but I didn’t think this would happen…
Bowe and Wade FTW.
When you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail.
I'm all for Eric Berry, at this point, but you've missed a lotta football if you didn't/don't realize those are good WRs.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
I was hoping against hope to see Flowers, Carr, Leggett, Morgan show us something.
Such a secondary would have far more athleticism than the one with Brown and McGraw. Anybody notice if/when this position grouping ever transpired?
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
The most blatant "team breakdowns" by the secondary seemed to be by Brown and Carr.
No question. Otis Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame.
I'd love Carr in the nickel
Seems like a great candidate there. In fact, there are times when I think I’d rather have Carr on the split end with Flowers on the slot when the nickel package is in there. The problem is that KC needs to find the guy to play the flanker in that scenario. I still contend that Malcolm Jenkins would’ve been a better choice than Tyson freaking Jackson.
