Chiefs Struggling as the Fourth Quarter Begins

The Kansas City Chiefs have still not scored a touchdown today. It's 17 to 6 Jacksonville.

Almost every phase of the game is sub-par for the Chiefs. Right now, we're lucky the Jaguars only have 17 points. They could easily have another touchdown in there.

I find it hard to believe that deactivating WR Bobby Wade gave the Chiefs the best possible chance to win today. He's not a super star but he was one of the better wideouts the Chiefs have.

The fourth quarter is starting. The game isn't out of reach but the way the Chiefs are playing it's going to take a heck of a fourth quarter to move ahead of the Jags.

GOOOOOOOOOOO CHIEFS!!!

Give Charls the Ball!

For the love of Christ, the guy is making positive plays of more than 2.7 yeards! I really don’t understand why he hasn’t been touching the ball more this game.

Well

Down two scores, now in the fourth quarter, I think they’ll be favoring the pass from here on out.

by Joel Thorman on Nov 8, 2009 2:16 PM CST up reply actions

We shouldn't go too pass heavy

We are only down by two scores, plenty of time left. There’s no way we should abandon Charles yet

by PistolP on Nov 8, 2009 2:18 PM CST up reply actions

Cassel

Won’t win this game for us, he’s the definition of mediocre to me. Sorry guys, I know it’s a dead horse, but MC is inaccurate, tentative, and lacking in pocket presence. He’s had plenty of time to throw the ball today, but he’s simply not getting it done against the worst pass rush in the league.

by PistolP on Nov 8, 2009 2:21 PM CST up reply actions

Draws

We actually haven’t seen too many of those today because the pass rush isn’t the issue.

NO

because when he does, he sits there for 5 seconds then pulls it down and runs

Right, and that's been 1 out of every 15 snaps?

So the one time he does have time, we are to assume his WRs are open or he is just suppose to be able to dial up a strike when getting put on his back the whole game? I don’t know any QB in the league that could do that.

Did you see the Falcons onside last week?

They had 3 on each wing and 4 in the middle that the Saints had to cover. The kicker at the point, at his discretion, can choose which way to kick the onside based on the coverage. Was pretty interesting, and they got it back in much the same way we did.

60 rushing yards on 14 carries – a big improvement. Maybe we’ve found some receivers that can get open in Chambers and Long. O line played better – and Charles and Savage did a good job in blitz pickup. Still a lot of problems, but I’m most happy that we may have found the rudiments for building a running game.

You're right about that

But, I think the idea here is to get this team to execute the plays that are given to them…. to change the culture?

There is a fine line between adapting to what the defense gives you and completely changing your offensive identity (do we even have one?) because the OLine is so awful.

To that effect we’re just each an every opponent dictate how we play our game, which is not where you want to be as an offense.

But what do ya do?
