Chiefs Inactives: WR Bobby Wade, FS Jon McGraw
As expected, Chiefs free safety Jon McGraw is not active. He's been suffering from an injury and is expected to be replaced by SS DaJuan Morgan.
The surprise here is the deactivation of WR Bobby Wade. I considered him possibly the second best receiver on the team. Well, that's before Chris Chambers came on board.
It's possible Wade is the victim of Chambers addition. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
WR Lance Long is active and probably beats out Wade because he plays special teams. He's definitely a "Haley guy."
Here are the rest of the inactives, courtesy of Josh Looney at KCChiefs.com.
QB Matt Gutierrez (3rd)
CB Donald Washington
S Jon McGraw
G/T Ikechuku Ndukwe
WR Bobby Wade
TE Jake O’Connell
TE Brad Cottam
LB Pierre Walters
Notable inactive from the Jaguars: Former Chiefs T Jordan Black.
Dang.

Surprised with Wade too.
I think the more “weapons” the offense has to use the better. But I have a feeling that Chambers will get the ball early and often, and Long keeps up his targets from the last game.

Agreed re: Long
I would like to see him more involved.

Though
As I’ve said before, a few other Chiefs receivers have had good games in their first w/ the Chiefs.

So, who is returning punts?
Not that Wade actually “returned” them anyway. :)
Erykah Badu, I have accepted your proposal. So, Mrs. DTR, let's get to consummating...you are on notice.

Good question

Yes, very good question
Hasn’t Savage been back there before?

Love Mo-Leg, but...
I hope to hell he isn’t returning punts!
Hopefully its Long or Savage…

Just seems odd that we suddenly don't need him at WR or PR
I would think if we had better options, we would have used them before to keep Wade’s aging legs rested in all of the previous games.
I am curious to see if we finally have someone who has stepped up as a PR.

yeah its a very curious decision
its not like hes been ineffective. He has had some nice catches for first downs recently. And like you said, now we have to fill two positions.

I want to see Pope as PR
That would be hilarious.

Too Bad about Wade
He must not have had a good week of practice. I know its a numbers game, but he’s shown himself to be pretty reliable.

re: wade
Could iit have been something sudden like the flu or maybe he tweaked something this AM?
by golfbard on Nov 8, 2009 11:04 AM CST via mobile reply actions 0 recs
could be... but probably just "numbers game"
wanted to get Chambers involved, and long, along with Bowe…and Bradley
didn’t want to carry 6 active WR

* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

I would've thought Bradley would be lower on the totem poll than Wade
Maybe with LJ out they have to have Savage active as the 3rd RB and so are going to use him as PR instead.
But still, I would have thought they would have deactivated Bradley ahead of Wade.

Dunno
…but Bradley is our only WR with respectable speed.

I was thinking the same thing.
Something might have happened so recently that its not on the injury report. Flu is going around after all. It just doesnt make sense to bench one of our few productive offensive weapons on a week where we are already without our starting RB

Wonder how many o- lineman are active? As many injuries as we have had not sure why dukwe isn’t active

I'm surprised more people aren't more excited
about Chris Chambers… he’s been a pretty good WR througout his career
by callmesir on Nov 8, 2009 11:37 AM CST reply actions 0 recs
Mike Goff was a "pretty good" Guard during his career too
Chambers is over 30 now. Hopefully he still has some in the tank.

Why not Copper?
Why would Wade fall victim to Chambers coming on board? I understand that it has been talked about that some players will sit in place of others, but why would you not sit Copper instead? Copper hasn’t produced any for this team, Wade has! He has to be inactive for some other reason.
