The 10 Biggest Problems with 2009 and the 10 most important moves for succesful 2010

 1. We should have stuck with the 4/3 for one more year all the pieces for Herms D were in place.

2. Tyson Jackson although Ideal for the 3/4 would of fit inside or out in the 4/3 for one year or drafted LB instead.

3.Our LBs were a better fit and we would not of had a need for to slow Vrabel (my opinion only)

4. Cassel was a terrible move.

5. Cutting Pollard was a horrible move and coming back to haunt the team.

6. If we still had Gonzo that speaks for itself he is still the best TE in football.

7. That second round pick could of got us a REALLY good LB or O-Lineman

8. LJ should have been dealt before the season for a 6th or 7th rd pick

9. Getting Pendergast and Gibbs to run the D (I hope they are both gone before 2010)

10. Haley taking over as Offensive Coordinator

After all that Pioli has a lot to prove.

10 moves that must be made for success in 2010

1. We must get a Center

2. Cassel needs to go (for people who actually think he can be good atleast bring in comp)

3. A #1 TE

4. LT needed Albert to LG where he will excel

5. Waters hopefully can get us a 5th rd pick if not take a 6th for him.

7. A starting RG

8. A starting safety

9. Get a good O coordinator

10. Bring in diff D coordinator

Our roster should go something like this without naming the draft picks

QB. FA / Cassel / Rookie

HB Charles Savage Williams

FB Cox/ FA

WR Bowe Chambers Long Wade Rookie KR/PR

TE. FA or Rookie, Pope, Ryan- preferred Ben Watson

LT Rookie

LG Albert

C Rookie

RG FA, Ndukwe or rookie

RT O'Callaghan, Brown, Richardson

LE Dorsey

NT FA / Rookie, Edwards-  prefer Wilfork, Suh or Cody

RE Jackson

LOLB Hali

LILB DJ but something tells me he won't be here so Williams

RILB Belcher

ROLB FA or Rookie- Preferred DANSBY

CB Flowers Carr Washington Leggett

FS Rookie (Berry PLEASE)

SS Page Brown or FA

Will start to look at Mock drafts after this week to see what players could fill the wholes post next week.

Suh at NT?

Suh splitting time at DE with Jackson or Dorsey, with Hampton or Wilfork at NT.

Realistically I expect Seymour and, Wilfork or Hampton brought in and Dorsey shipped out. Suh being the #1 pick for us. That gives Suh a year of playing here and there to learn the trade while Jackson and Seymour or Dorsey anchor the DE positions.

Dorsey being shipped will end up being one of two things, either he’s used to move up to take Suh or he’s an extra first or second round pick, possibly held onto to be traded for even more next year.

TE Ben Watson, Algae Crumpler, before you start throwing rocks over me even mentioning Crumpler, he’s still better than anyone else we have on the roster at the position.

Round 2 LT is taken, does this automatically slide someone over? I highly doubt it, unless Waters is dealt for a late round draft pick, but that’s still doubtful. Niswanger, Brown, Alleman or Ndukwe will step up at right guard at some point and a center will be taken, you might see Wade Smith at LG until they feel the rookie is ready to take over at LT. Beginning of next season Albert LT, Waters or Smith at LG Rookie C, Niswanger, Brown, Ndukwe, or Alleman RG, O’Callagan RT, End of next season 2 rookies along the Oline LT and C, Albert at LG, Niswanger, Brown, Ndukwe or Alleman at RG and O’Callagan at RT. Our RG is on the roster, or IR.

Second, second round pick, CB or WR, I know there’s going to be some calling for my head over CB but is Carr really our #2 corner of the future, he’s been a great late round find, and probably a great nickel, or dime corner but not really a #2 corner. With the Washington pick I think Pioli is wanting to play more bump and run coverage, so a bigger, more physical corner will be wanted.

WR- Bowe, drops, Chambers this year so far in SD Drops, Wade, Drops, Long upside, NO true KR/PR unless Long gets that chance, so a WR in round 2 is plausable.

Rounds 3-5 we’ll get our coveted center and a either a corner or a WR whatever isn’t taken in round 2 with that second pick. Safety I doubt will be taken, an OLB/DE will be picked up, ILB I doubt it, we’ll be picking them up in FA.

On the flipside I could see KC making all the same moves but taking Okung in the first and picking up a DE with the first pick in round 2. To me that makes more sense right now, Dorsey or Seymour holding down that DE spot until the rookie is ready to take over. If Dorsey is held onto for one more year and continues to improve at the pace he is, he’ll be worth a high first and possibly a high third in next year’s draft to a 4-3 or a 3-4 team.

I expect both lines to be solidified, O-line through the draft and in house, D-Line through both the draft and FA. Our starting TE next year will be a FA pickup, ILB will also be dealt with through FA and another OLB/DE will come through the draft, a new corner will also probably be picked up in round 2-4. Will all the holes be filled no, but a play-off push will probably be coming next year.

Any trades next year will be sending players away, I highly doubt it will be bringing in new players. We have a possiblility of a shaky foundation to a very good team, and the 2011 FA season and Draft will make or break this team.

Actually

I’m saying FU Carl for putting Herm out and maiking this a bigger mess than it was. Herm SHOULD have got his third year.

Just remember...

we traded for Herm… Saints picked up Sean Payton.

No matter how wrong a person is I guess theyre entitled to their opinion.

Comments about the D coordinator are the only ones I can agree with and I think it was apparent they didnt get their first choice.

Other then that if I’m reading this right with your “plan”, we’re going to need four first round draft picks for Berry, Suh, a guy who can come in and start at LT and a QB worth a crap.

the rear view mirror is clearer than the windshield

it’s easy to look back and say “shoulda, woulda, coulda”… but that’s irrelevant.

It’s hard to see the future of this team right now, because there are so many changes, and things have looked bad at times on the field.

But, things have looked good at times too… though it’s easy to forget those things when you’re coming off of a bad loss, bye week, and LJ.

I disagree with most of this post, because I believe there is a direction for this team, and a vision… it’s just hard to see, and I understand why people get frustrated.

Frustration mid-season is not a reason to panic or start over.

* The OL is NOT as bad as you think it is... give it time, and you'll see improvement this season

amen brotha

4) cassel a terrible move- how do u figure, hes shown he can be a leader and an avg QB on this terrible offense, hes only gonna be as good as the talent around him, which isnt good…..you can not truthfully say you would rather have brokie starting, he would be dead if he was behind that line.
7) really good LB or Oline- we could have a servicable one but not a REALLY good one

I am impressed...

With how brief and abrasive your comments have been in the past I thought you might have a troll post….But it was well done…Even if I don’t agree with all.

One last thing...

You do realize having that many starting rookies would more than likely mean that we would be terrible next year too right? At some point you have to stick with some of the guys you’ve got.

Also I think if you upgrade the O-Line so we can run the ball a little and get 9 guys out of the box blitzing the be-Jesus out of Cassel I think he can be fine. I still believe that he just needs to get a little more familiar with his receivers then things will start to click. He isn’t making bad decisions and I can think of at least 2 INT’s off the top of my head that weren’t his fault.

my problems with your plan

Your 10 biggest problems:

1. stick with 4/3 one more year? what does that accomplish? maybe have a bit better year this year and suck next year during transition? no – just rip the bandaid off all at once this year like we’re doing

2. don’t understand this – but similar to 1. Don’t stick with a system and draft players for a system that you are planning to dump – just dump it.

3. I guess same as 1 and 2.

4. dead wrong – Cassel is real, he just needs a real OL. Franchise starting qb for 2nd rd pick and including a LB? good move

5. I can go either way on Pollard. He wasn’t great, wasn’t horrible. Non issue.

6. We all love Tony. But, he didn’t want to be here, he’s not part of the future. Get it over with and give him his opportunity.

7. I don’t understand this. This is regards to Tony? We GOT a 2nd for him – didn’t give one up.

8. LJ should have been gotten rid of, yes. We wouldn’t have gotten shit for him.

9. Agreed. But with late hires of Pioli and Haley all the good ones were gone.

10. Agreed, but I think there is more to this story than we know. I do not think Haley had intended to take on this role originally.

Your 10 important moves:

1. right on

2. WTF. I do not understand this and it is so wrong. Who the hell do you think we’ll scrape up in FA? Do you really want Tarvaris Jackson?

3. I agree I guess. I think we all love TE around here. But, I don’t get the impression that Haley’s preferred offense uses a catching TE. But, even so, we do need a good blocking one in that case.

4. OK, I"m all for anything that will improve OL – our biggest need by far.

5. See #4. However, I’m also confused. You clearly see OL as an area of need just like at TE. Why are you ok with this plan but not with the identical plan of trading Tony G for a pick?

6. You missed #6, so you owe yourself another important move.

7. See #4.

8. This is true with or without Pollard if you want a star safety. He was ok but…c’mon.

9. Agreed.

10. Agreed.

The rest.

I still think we need a better RB than we have right now and should pursue someone.

We need more help at WR – you are showing the same ol’ patchwork bunch we have now.

Air Cassel - approved for takeoff
